I’ve checked, it was a mix of threads. On another thread a poster was proposing outlawing children to a unwed mother, comparing it to purchasing a car. If you can’t pay for the car, you lose it; if you can’t afford a child, you lose it. The discussion led to legislating such, as I took it as in stopping sex of unwed people. Sorry…as Gilda Radner used to say, ‘never mind.’ 😃

Jack is a legend in Ohio. Trust me, I’m a native. Jack has not only endorsed Romney, I understand he is campaigning for him. Very big in Ohio. At Ohio State (where my daughter is a senior), they have a Jack Nicklaus museum on campus.

We had Ghoulardi, the Ghoul, then Big Chuck and Hoolihan, which morphed into Big Chuck and Little John. I absolutely remember Friday night B movie TV with Ghoulardi. Awesome TV! On Sunday mornings, we had the Gene Carroll Show and Polka Varieties.

I guess the lawn-sign indicators are as good a way as any to predict the winner, certainly better than any of these confusing, conflicting, and contradictory polls, none of which, to my knowledge, take into account people who don’t own land-line phones but only cells.

Only Ohioans would know Ghoulardi. Remember the Kielbasa Kid and Stosh from ‘that certain ethnic group’?

I still watch Sports Time Ohio (STO) with Bruce Drennan and Chuck Galeti (“Last Call”) because I’m a diehard Indians fan. Go Tribe!

I;m serious about lawn signs. 15:1 ratio in south Pinellas County and 4:1 in our Fairfax area neighborhood. We counted them (until we lost track in southern Pinellas). Seeing is believing.

I saw Jimmy Brown play at the old Municipal Stadium. Along with Rocky Colavito, Vic Davilillo, Louis Tiant, Sam McDowell, etc. during baseball season.

Using your definition, what is the Church’s proportionate reason for not plainly speaking that Catholics MUST vote for ONLY one candidate? Millions of Catholics were divided on the issue last election. Using your definition, they went against Church teaching. Does the Church have no obligation to bring those sheep back into the flock by giving a clear statement that cannot be debated?

Or, is the debate is the body of Christ making a decision through the individual consciences of Catholics?

Notice how what I say does not ask that you change what your conscience leads you to do, and using your definition requires Catholics to go against what their consciences lead them to do?

Would the Church require us to go against another teaching with such a demand? I don’t believe it would.

Can Catholics in good conscience practice artificial birth control?

I would like to discuss your comments about conscience and how you have credibility problems with Mitt Romney. One should follow one’s conscience but it must be formed by Catholic teaching and morality.

While lying is a sin, moral theology would support that its not as serious (proportionate) as murder. E.g. Wife asks husband, “Honey do you think I am fat?” Husband lies and says, “No dear you look beautiful”. Are you suggesting that’s worse than the husband murdering his obese wife?!!

While anyone can have doubts about Mitt’s sincerity, his faults aren’t as serious as Pres. Obama.
