Jack has already endorsed Romney
On Niclaus endorsement: The Golden Bear is liked by all (i.e. in Cleveland, Cincinnati and Columbus - without being a rival of any other Ohio city either). Not bad.

The younger crowd may not know him … but the Baby Boomers do.

Going from sports to celebrities … I wonder who Drew Carey is supporting. His show lionized Cleveland like Tim Allen’s did Detroit. In some ways celebs are smart to keep their politics to themselves until such time as gaining an audience is a bigger need than keeping all the fans you have without alienating any.

Yes, it exposes our ages.

Only Ohioans would know Ghoulardi. Remember the Kielbasa Kid and Stosh from ‘that certain ethnic group’?

I still watch Sports Time Ohio (STO) with Bruce Drennan and Chuck Galeti (“Last Call”) because I’m a diehard Indians fan. Go Tribe!
NOT from Cleveland at all … but somehow I like it in all sports when the Cleveland teams are good. Kind of an underdog city that doesn’t win Championships often even when they have teams that are just as good as the cities that win.

Rocky Colavito, the late Bob Feller, and “Sudden Sam” Mc Dowell come to mind as does Luis Tiant, Steve Hargan, and one mad year of Joe Charbonneau. And who can forget the greatest Indian hitter of all (current Cubs’ bench coach) Jamie Quirk. A home run every time UP in a Tribe uni! lol. In the same year he became the worst hitter in Chicago White Sox history at .000 yet had the same number of RBI’s for both teams!

midwestsportsfans.com/2010/08/the-clevehago-indian-sox/ - an enjoyable read for Indian or White Sox fans, including the blog posts at the bottom.

Hail to the featherheaded sons of the Cuyahoga! :tiphat: With a tip of the hat to Jim Chones of the Cleveland Cavaliers! Some campaign manager should get some of these guys to commit to swing Ohio!

From CNN:TRENDING: Axelrod: Obama closing argument 'from his loins’
David Axelrod described the message coming from President Barack Obama days before Election Day as “coming from his loins.”

“I’ve never seen him more exhilarated than he is right now. He believes in what he’s doing. He believes in what he’s fighting for,” Axelrod told reporters Friday after the president’s event in Lima, Ohio. “You can see in the speech that he’s delivering that this is coming from his loins.”
Ewwwww…

Some reaction from the Twitterverse:

Underwhelming.

Every single one? Wow, he’s a heck of a duper.
Nice word, “duper”, and it describes him well. Thanks for that. I guess you could call Mr. Romney the Super Duper.

The bishops are on a bandwagon. This happens in politics. They want to believe in certain things, and when someone lies to them in a way that is palatable, then they embrace the liar. This just means they are human.

The abortion issue is so salient, and for Catholics, contraception is also huge. I can understand why the bishops have blinders on about the insurance issues for Catholic employers. This is their turf which feels threatened, and they are reacting defensively, even if not wisely. It is a visceral and emotional response. Politicians are experts on playing these issues.

If you listen critically to Romney, you will discern that his platform changes every time he speaks. So, the big problem is to try to determine what he actually will do. Since it changes each time he talks about it (other than cutting taxes for the rich), it is very challenging to know if he will be of any help for the bishop’s concerns. Because he is so dishonest and vague, they are hoping for the best, because Obama has clearly stated policies opposed to their concerns. So, they are recommending the unknown and dishonest, to the known which is opposed to their interests, and hoping for the best outcome possible.

I am not a fan of Obama. I just point out that Romney is unprincipled and therefore unsuitable as a leader. At least Mr Obama is clear about what he stands for.

I am somewhat surprised that the bishops are not worried about his religious views. Either he believes in multi deities, directly violating a rather important commandment, or he is lying about that too. I guess the latter option would be the preferable one, and it fits everything else we know about him.

But really, and I would like an answer to this, which is not forthcoming from the bishops, or any of Romney’s supporters. Mormons are poly theists. They do not believe in one God. Does this not seem to be an important issue?

Alas true

Indeed. It is not even clear if he would govern as moderate, by his own conviction, or as Tea Party radical who would just be the "pen that conservatives need to sign on our plans " (Grover Norquist). Me like many others are afraid it would be the latter, since Romney has never shown any backbone. I hope we will never have to find out, and that this will always be a mystery for the history books.

_Abyssinia;9967858:
Obama voter said he had voted 4 times for Obama and planning another vote

Despicable.
How did he do that? don’t believe everything you read.

But yes, I agree with you. The corruption in politics is despicable.

Obama is a chicago politician. I will not be surprised to see corruption of the voting process in Illinois.

The Bush political machine has a lock on Florida, which is critical to this race. Don’t be surprised if the majority in Florida actually votes for Obama, yet Romney takes the state.

I guess one must have a sense of humor, and step back from the politics. Great wealth and power are at stake. Those who can do so, will manipulate the process.

Please state your source for Mormon belief in polytheism. I must be ignorant because I have never, ever heard this from any other source.

The Father, Son and Holy Spirit are separate Gods in Mormonism. They do not believe in the Trinity. Easy to fact check for yourself from any source you trust. I seem to recall the Nicene Creed from just a few days ago which contradicts the Mormon take on things.

Its tough being a Cleveland fan, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. When you have a $49 million payroll (Indians) and play teams with payrolls in the vicinity of $200 million (Red Sox, Yankees), it is difficult to compete. As for the Browns, I can’t explain that one. The NFL has a salary cap.

I read this on Wikipedia:

*In the Mormonism represented by most of Mormon communities (including The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints), “God” means Elohim (the Father), whereas “Godhead” means a council of three distinct gods; Elohim, Jehovah (the Son, or Jesus), and the Holy Spirit. The Father and Son have perfected, material bodies, while the Holy Spirit is a spirit and does not have a body. This conception differs from the traditional Christian Trinity; in Mormonism, the three persons are considered to be physically separate beings, or personages, but united in will and purpose.[1] As such, the term “Godhead” differs from how it is used in traditional Christianity. This description of God represents the orthodoxy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church), established early in the 19th century. However, the Mormon concept of God has expanded since the faith’s founding in the late 1820s. Joseph Smith said after his First Vision that God and Jesus both have physical bodies.

Being nontrinitarian, the teachings of the LDS Church differ from other Christian churches’ theologies as established, for example, in the First Council of Constantinople. Mormon cosmology teaches the existence of other “gods” such as is exhibited in the concept of the Godhead being three, separate, distinct beings.*

They believe in a ‘Godhead’ consisting of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit as distinct personages, whereas we believe in one ‘God’ in the normal Trinitarian sense. Same figures, different status. I understand your point, epan. Thank you for your post.

What needs to be exposed are crimes and predatory stalking, cruelties committed against family, the Law and the Police judging what is right or wrong, not some stranger creating a hostile workplace or other place and in effect, discriminating against people.

Not that one should witness an act of atrocious traumatizing violence against their own family and in turn be insulted about what this is all about. Stalkers should be seen that they give great comfort to the act of rape.

Crime is black and white, acts of hate should not be covered up and made trivial with people obstructing one’s rights to justice.

Libby is the most beautiful woman in the world by far, she is absolutely a reward from God from having to take some and in fact, victimized with some horrendous behavior, by complete strangers, by those who abuse in the workplace, by those who use the worst words of bigotry and discrimination one can think of.

We will be wed and have children as God has blessed us against the most obscene ignominious cruelties from the state that one loves.

And (not to cause you pain but) Le Bron James, Ohio native leaves for Miami and wins there.

HEY! *** Bob Uecker ***ought to get a call to endorse someone. He’d be a twofer. Loved in Wisconsin because he was a Milwaukee Brave and a Brewer announcer … and in Ohio because he was the announcer of the mythical Cleveland Indian team from the movie “Major League” made back when the Tribe still played in the big, bad, “Mistake by the Lake” Municipal Stadium. Which was great for football and the “Dog Pound” but not so much for
the smaller baseball crowds the mammoth stadium would get.

New poll shows Romney up by 4 in Pennsylvania
Miami Herald FL Poll: Romney 51%-Obama 45%

Yet today we have this from the Wall Street Journal:

The NBC News/Wall Street Journal/Marist College survey of likely voters put Obama ahead of Romney in Ohio, 51 percent to 45 percent, and in Florida, 49 percent to 47 percent.

I’m losing faith in polling (faulty sampling, methodology, bias). I want Romney to win, but I refuse to live in despair or elation based on disparate polling results. Personally, I believe Ohio is out of Romney’s grasp by the narrowest of margins. I also believe Hurricane Sandy stalled Romney’s momentum due to Obama’s perceived handling of the crisis. Finally, I believe liberal media bias is giving Obama a decisive advantage among the American electorate. Is the election over? No. Can Romney surprise us with a Reaganesque finish on Tuesday? Yes. Nonetheless, I am bracing for the real possibility that Obama will retain the Oval Office. 😦

Detroit gave out a tax break to the studio that made the movie Gran Torino but any research shows that it was written by a resident in the Twin Cities and about the Twin Cities, Minneapolis and St. Paul.

Great movie with the exceptions of the cursing; Kowalski is the big hero of the story, one has to wonder if truth inspired this movie. We see bullies in life and sometimes we see the White Knight ride in and be the hero.

Of course, that story is about the Hmong, Hmong women for the record through their culture and history get practically NO abortions whatsoever, the Hmong additionally are just a gift from God,

Walt Kowalski played by Clint Eastwood in the end gives no better example of what it is to be our brother’s keeper.

Meh. A slightly worse theology than some of the other Protestant groups. I know the Mormons weren’t around during the Reformation, but they’ve caused Catholics a lot less pain than some of the groups our theology matches more closely.

As for Obama’s last known Church there’s not much to choose from there either.

Technically Reverend Wright’s place in South Chicago might come closer to the Catholic Church regarding the Trinity (it is NAMED the Trinity United Church of Christ) -
but all I can remember is the famed quote from its pastor " … they want us to say God BLESS America … no, no, no, God D–n America … !" while the Mormons sing “America The Beautiful” with a full choir and four part harmony!

Technically the Obama’s left TUCC in March of 2008 after 20 years, citing Reverend Wright’s views on some things as their reason. They have been seen going to “Church” with their girls, I’ve seen them, but I haven’t caught WHERE or with what denomination.

Furthermore the story of Joseph Smith, the magic glasses, an angel called “Moroni” and a whole new book equal to the Bible makes for a Wizard of Oz-like fancifulness that (though not true) is whimsically entertaining and as made-up religions go - possibly less harmful than if people started taking Harry Potter stories for guidance and made THAT the latest religious “denomination” to make its debut.

I kind of like Mormons and their squeaky cleanness and family home evenings culturally - even though Utah felt like a foreign country to me after I saw “Stakehouses” everywhere and no Catholic Churches. Something about “not being able to drink” so easily made me “want to” for some darn reason. 😃 Even coffee! 😉

For now I will demonstrate my open-mindedness and vote for the first American candidate to have a father born in Mexico. Willard “Mitt” Romney. I already voted against him when I picked Santorum earlier this year. In all fairness voting against him twice in just a few months when he’s not even attacking my Church would almost border on*** intolerance!*** :tsktsk:

If you read that blog you will see this from the polling company:

Jeryl Bier forwarded us the following email from Jim Lee of Susquehanna: (Polling Company)

This poll is three weeks old, Jeryl. Not sure why this poll is still being circulated as “new”. Tomorrow the Pittsburgh tribune review will release a new poll they commmissioned us to do “post hurricane sandy”. It shows a tighter race. Jim:
