Evidence?
Watch MSNBC, Abyssinia: fair and unbiased reporting! Seriously, by curtailing early voting, for one thing, even though, as oldcelt pointed out, the lines are so long before election day. This may be due in part to the 10-page ballot. Waiting several hours on line may be discouraging to many voters, and they may decide to go home instead of voting.

If turnout remains so high that voters cannot be accommodated, you can bet that whoever loses will have a compelling legal case.
Christie today announced today that a variety of methods will be used to ensure that his people get a chance to vote.

John
Christie is having problems with Sandy results, totally different from what you are talking
about.
Here some polls had many people in line at 7 pm closing time. They were all allowed to
vote if they were registered. Some did come in during these past two weeks trying to vote who had never registered. Most understood, but a couple were very upset that they
couldn’t vote. They would be the ones who would file the lawsuits, with many lawyers
lining up in many places to take their case.
(Some of those not registered were given the option to cast a provisional vote, but most
declined.)

Our ballot was rather long, but I knew what was on it and was able to move quickly through
it. It’s understood though that some have no clue as to what is on it and would take longer.
Still with good organization and many voting machines, the process need not take very
long. Preparation is key.

So, based on your statement, Governor Walker is not trying to disenfranchise voters. If 43% Democrats and 40% Republicans are equally turned away for logistic problems, there is no issue. Your earlier statement in unfounded. All voters from both parties can show up on election day, if necessary.

Yes, they can, and wait in even longer lines; you should have first-hand knowledge of that. When I speak of disenfranchising voters, I’m not talking only about Democrats. The residents of Staten Island, New York, for example, are largely Republican and I’m concerned many of them may be disenfranchised due to the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.

What state does not have long waiting lines whether they have a republcian or demcorat governor?

Michael ‘Heckuva Job’ Brown asks why Obama responded ‘so quickly’ to Sandy
Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney’s campaign has a new, unsolicited surrogate in Ohio.
Even as President Barack Obama’s and Romney’s campaigns have halted their campaigning in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy, the former director of Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Michael Brown has stepped forward to criticize President Obama’s handling of the current natural disaster.
In an interview with Denver Westword, Brown speculated that President Barack Obama might have acted too quickly:
Code:
“One thing he’s gonna be asked is, why did he jump on this so quickly and go back to D.C. so quickly when in…Benghazi, he went to Las Vegas? Why was this so quick?… At some point, somebody’s going to ask that question…. This is like the inverse of Benghazi.”
As Bill Clinton said today: Bring it on…we’ll take that kind of criticism any day.

John

Voters waiting in long lines? It happens in any election anywhere. This does not constitute an intentional disenfranchisement of any voters by Governor Walker. They can simply show up on election day. You cannot make such a statement about Governor Walker without empirical evidence to support your theory.

None so long as in Florida and Ohio, if the media images can be believed. I’ve never experienced a long wait voting in New York State (NYC) despite its large population, but it’s not a swing state. My main point is that Rick Scott has curtailed voting hours and days and that hurts both Democrat and Republican voters.

What if the lines are still long at 8:00 pm on Tuesday? Anywhere…

The claim by meltzerboy is that Governor Walker is intentionally disenfranchising voters. It is an unsubstantiated statement and I will not stand for it. Long lines happen. There is no government action in place to disenfranchise Democratic or Republican voters. Period.

If voters are in line at closing time, they get to vote, period. The voters are either given a
number or some evidence from elections officials that they were in line at closing and
they are allowed to vote even if it takes hours. What’s so hard to understand?

If curtailing voting hours hurts republicans then doing such a thing would not benefit republicans so what would be the point? Republicans are 3% behind democrats in FL in early voting. Obama’s DOJ approved early voting as it stands in Florida

I’m not talking about Gov. Walker; I’m talking about Gov. Scott. His curtailment of early voting days, combined with the exceptionally long lines and multi-page ballots in Florida, is indeed tantamount to the disenfranchisement of some voters, both Democrats and Republicans.

It is totally proper to limit voting hours within reason. Governor Scott has acted reasonably. There is no evidence of disenfranchisement. Multi-page ballots are acceptable. You confuse disenfranchisement with inconvenience. You are trying to create an issue where none exists. Your implication of intentional misconduct is wrong.

Holy cow! The Governor of Wisconsin is Scott Walker; the Governor of Florida is Rick Scott.

My fault for substituting the wrong Governor’s name. I erroneously confused the name in my haste to clear up implications of misconduct against the Florida Governor. My point stands.
