Wow. A little cranky today. Did your priest give a different homily than ours? Ours was about the whole love God with all your heart, soul and strength and love your neighbor thingy. 🙂

I hope you were kidding. We pray the Common Prayers in Latin during our OF Mass, but the readings and homily are always in English. If the homilies were in Latin, we would be in bad shape! :eek: 😛

Of course, I was kidding! If we had a Homily in Latin, I would sit there looking stupid. I follow our Latin Mas okay, but a Latin Homily would convert me to the Presbyterian faith! 🙂

Obviously it couldn’t because there are too few choices. But using what guidelines the church has given us, it’s clear you can’t vote for anyone who supports intrinsically evil policies with the exception of when there are no other choices. If we could only vote for either Romney or Obama, one could legitimately vote for Romney. But the fact that the Constitution Party offers at least one pro-life option, you shouldn’t vote for either Romney or Obama. At least that’s how I understand it.

Please don’t provide any unofficial voter guides or opinions by some ex-bishop of Galveston in 2004. They have as much standing as my opinion.

Well, I have to disagree with you here, my friend. Breitbart is not a more reliable site than Pew IMO. However, I think in this case that Breitbart’s analyst did proper math and deductive work with Pew’s statistics and came out with reasonable conclusions. I cannot assert that Breitbart would do that in every instance, but I think they did a fair analysis this time. For what it’s worth.

I think there is a problem of always comparing things to the worst rather than what is ideal. Romney is way better than Obama, but so is Bill/Hilary Clinton. I’d rather vote for who is best than to mindlessly follow the exaggerations and half-truths of the GOP and democrats about the other guy. But that is me. Of course voting for the lesser of evils is reasonable, but we need to be sure that our faith isn’t being “leavened” by the GOP and democrat agenda but rather our Catholic faith leavens the parties and brings both parties to the truth. Romney isn’t close enough to the ideal to warrant my support.

I’m less concerned about the HHS mandate than I am about catholic institutions and families effectively promulgating the faith.

I agree, and we are in a tough spot. I could see an argument for Romney, and see an argument for Goode. There is no argument for Obama.

The latter concern you mention begins with our Priests and Bishops. No politician is going to promulgate the faith. Not one ever has as President. They have presided with morality, and ethics based on their faith, but what you refer to seems to be in line with our Church, which is and has been sorely lacking in both areas for 30 years.
 
Wisconsin State Journal endorses Romney, becomes latest paper to flip from Obama in ’08

In the final hours of the presidential campaign, the largest endorsing newspaper in the swing state of Wisconsin has thrown its support to GOP nominee Mitt Romney. This endorsement may be even more significant since the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel decided not to endorse either presidential candidate this year. The State Journal becomes the eighth large paper in a Swing State to flip from an Obama endorsement in 2008. How is using basic math skills twisting anything? Look, Breitbart just showed how the numbers would be positive for Romney, not dispute the numbers.

Goode is no good, per a respected Catholic theolgian friend of mine…he’s pro-torture. If you are going to go with ideal, you have to shoot a little higher.

Everyone should learn to follow our Latin Mass - it is a “Novus Ordo” or Ordinary Form Mass. The only difference is praying of the Commons, in Latin. Per the Pope, everyone should be encouraged to know those prayers: Gloria, Credo, Sanctus, Mysterium Fidei, Pater Noster, Agnus Dei. 🙂

Heck, due to convenience I often go to the Maronite 12:30 liturgy on Sunday which is in Arabic from beginning to end. No english.

It’s the best I can do sometimes as someone who can’t drive!

It would be nice to have at least the readings and the homily in English but it’s their church so. . . . . 🤷

I have no need to rehash Church teaching, voter guides or Bishop’s statements with you. We all know that it is legitimate to vote for the best of the two major party candidates OR a third party candidate OR not vote. I choose the first option…to pick the major candidate who will lessen evil.
