From the Wall Street Journal:
President Barack Obama delivered a blistering critique of the House Republican budget Tuesday, calling it a “radical” proposal, “a Trojan horse” and “a prescription for decline” and tying it directly to Mitt Romney, the GOP candidate the White House believes Mr. Obama will face in November.

“This is now the party’s governing platform,” Mr. Obama said of the GOP budget, which was passed by the House but has almost no chance of becoming law because of Democratic opposition. “It is thinly veiled social Darwinism.”
Social Darwinism? Perhaps a better alternative is societal suicide…that’s what the left wingers in the Executive Branch and part of the Legislative Branch will for this country.

Of course, another good bit of this situation’s irony was captured by Father Zuhlsdorf in his item, Pres. Obama invokes “social Darwinism”. Mr. President, look in the mirror.
(snip)

Do you want an example of true social Darwinism? Look at Pres. Obama’s eager support of abortion and even infanticide.

(snip)

This president is so dedicated to actual social Darwinism, dog eat dog lethal social Darwinism, that he is ready to violate the 1st Amendment and the consciences of a large number of Americans and ram paying for contraception, abortifacients and sterilizations down the throats of religious institutions.

And if the Catholic Church, for example, says it will not comply to his assault, he will, believe me, send the attack dogs.

He is pushing his aggressive agenda because he thinks he is stronger than than we are.

Want to find social Darwinism, Mr. President?

Look in the mirror.

Maybe someone can inform Mr. Outraged that HIS budget received a whopping ZERO votes in the House. Not even one from his own party. Seriously, this president is a numbskull. I am sincerely having a hard time understanding why anyone would vote for him.

Can this reply be somehow framed and stickied in this forum for the next 7 months? 👍

Because he is a Democrat.🙂

Obama is right about this.
Obama’s proposed budget received 0 votes. Not a single one. He is in no place to lecture anyone about anything on economics. He is a miserable failure in that regard. In fact, I don’t think any of his proposed budgets have received a single vote. He should resign and let someone else take over who knows what he/she is doing.

Quote:

It doesn’t make us weaker when we guarantee basic security for the elderly or the sick or those who are actively looking for work. What makes us weaker is when fewer and fewer people can afford to buy the goods and services our businesses sell, or when entrepreneurs don’t have the financial security to take a chance and start a new business. What drags down our entire economy is when there’s an ever-widening chasm between the ultra-rich and everybody else.
…
Instead of moderating their views even slightly, the Republicans running Congress right now have doubled down, and proposed a budget so far to the right it makes the Contract with America look like the New Deal. (Laughter.) In fact, that renowned liberal, Newt Gingrich, first called the original version of the budget “radical” and said it would contribute to “right-wing social engineering.” This is coming from Newt Gingrich.
…
This congressional Republican budget is something different altogether. It is a Trojan Horse. Disguised as deficit reduction plans, it is really an attempt to impose a radical vision on our country. It is thinly veiled social Darwinism. It is antithetical to our entire history as a land of opportunity and upward mobility for everybody who’s willing to work for it; a place where prosperity doesn’t trickle down from the top, but grows outward from the heart of the middle class.
…
Now, the proponents of this budget will tell us we have to make all these draconian cuts because our deficit is so large; this is an existential crisis, we have to think about future generations, so on and so on. And that argument might have a shred of credibility were it not for their proposal to also spend $4.6 trillion over the next decade on lower tax rates.

Barack Obama created more debt in 3 years than George bush did in 8, but Barack Obama in 2008 called George Bush ‘unpatriotic’ for this, then what does that make Barack Obama according to his own words?

Paul Ryan’s budget actually got support within the House, Barack Obama’s budget was voted down 414-0, not a single Democrat voted in support of it.

If Barack Obama cared about the poor why did he cut $500 million from going to Community Health Centers, which provide comprehensive health care to low income people in rural and inner city areas? But money going to Planned Parenthood, he was fine with that.

To be fair, that money was replaced by funds appropriated in Obamacare.

However, if Obamacare goes down in flames…

The only reason the medicine has to be so bitter is they allowed this to get so out of control. A lesson should be learned. Balanced budgets, no gimmickry, and prudent spending are the only cure. Sooner of later the bubble bursts.

This idea of balance and meet me in the middle has to be stopped.

But the hundreds of millions of dollars that go to Planned Parenthood isn’t cut and then re-appropriated, and Planned Parenthood does not even provide comprehensive health care.

I got my number wrong, it wasn’t $500 million that was cut from Community Health Centers, it was $600 million dollars.

Why, did Ryan’s budget propose more funding for Planned Parenthood?

“America’s First, and Longest Operating Social Darwinian Eugenics Program™”
Ryan is a devotee of Ayn Rand. Let’s not act as if that has nothing to do with his policy prescriptions. They are distinctly Randian (benefits for the well-off; sink or swim, you’re on your own for the not well off).

Scott: Obama no doubt has serious deficiencies, but he happens to be right about this, IMO.

So a guy who can’t convince one single person that his budget is acceptable wants to blast someone elses budget?

How about he sits down and comes up with a real budget? I suppose it must be time to tee off or fly away to another vacation. The guy is a joke.

He could call out Harry Reid and tell him to get up off his rear and do the job he is being paid to do–pass a d— budget. I have gotten more than tired of listening to the president’s lies and diatribes that when I see him on TV, I turn him off.
