If you are fine with that, it is your business. I do not trust them and believe them unreliable. I resent the heck out of the illogical conclusion that I am less opposed to abortion because I am opposed to the techniques of LifeSite News.
I’m not sure where the last statement originated. My point was simply that headlines by all media are designed to attract eyeballs. This is as true for the mainstream like NYT or WaPo as it is for LifeSite. It is not a technique that is only used by LifeSite. They all do it so good luck in finding a credible news source if you are unaware of how the ALL try to manipulate readers with somewhat outrageous or overblown headlines.

I haven’t found LifeSite reporting to be lacking in facts. Clearly they have a pro life slant. At least, unlike the MSM they do not pretend they are unbiased. What I can’t accept are the clearly anti-life, anti-religion, pro Left media outlets that pretend to be objective. They must think we all fell of a turnip truck on the way through town.

Indeed, at least they own up to their slant, thus making it easier for us (even those unfamiliar to them) to filter their slant out of the writing to see the facts. That is harder to do, if the slant is hidden in a claim of “unbiased news” especially if you are unfamiliar with the source. (Don’t know NYT’s or Fox’s agendas).

Isn’t that the Unitarian Church ? Or Universal Church ?
Michael Wear, hmmm. I’ve a feeling, like Judas…follow the money.

Anybody wanna bet what his “non-denominational” church views are on abortion, homosexual “marriage”, and other “chic” sins, the “cool” churches embrace?

How about : lifenews.com/

The CNN article cited by LifeNews is at this link:

religion.blogs.cnn.com/2012/05/15/in-face-of-faith-based-attacks-obama-campaign-hires-faith-outreach-director/

LifeNews is an unreliable source of news. The get some things right, but the heavy spin and misinformation distorts so much of their “reporting.”

The Obama administration wants to message its policies to younger Christians, not just Catholics in a fashion analogous to previous outreach by Republican administrations to Jerry Falwell and the Moral Majority. Obama is not the first to value the votes of Christians of various denominations, and this is not just about the Catholic response to HHS policies.
We’re REALLY in trouble when we epitomize CNN as a truth source! Ouch!

I’d trust a “slant” of an organization trying to follow God’s ways anyday.

:)So True! I believe True Catholics are smarter than that:)
Here’s a little experiment you can try: once the campaign gets into full swing, take note of the number of pro-øbama bumper stickers in your parish parking lot when you go to Mass on Sunday. I think you will be shocked. The minister of the liturgy, a leadership position in a parish near here, still sports one from 2008 !

Isn’t that the Unitarian Church ? Or Universal Church ?
Haha I resemble that remark…or I did. My parents were atheists but liked the Unitarian “Church” because there were no creeds, no standards, no there…there. It is the “church” of what’s happenin’ now!

BTW it’s the Unitarian Universalist “Church” so you get two non-believers for the price of one! Nice people but they believe in nothing and look down their noses at us great unwashed who believe in “myths” and “fairy tales” written in the Bible.

They make great cover for a secular agenda though. People hear the word “church” and equate it with other mainline denominations.

… My parents were atheists but liked the Unitarian “Church” because there were no creeds, no standards, …
What kind of religion believes in nothing? I thought the whole idea of a religion was to believe in something. To carry my analogy one step further, it sounds like a car dealership that doesn’t sell cars.

No wonder the govt is over budget.
The guy’s previous job was as “executive assistant to the executive director of the White House Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships
I wonder how big that department is, and what they do?

It’s saddly funny that they have to hire a staffer that thinks about faith (because the rest of the staff are athiests)
Of course, that initiative was started by gw bush. Are you saying that he was an atheist? Wouldn’t surprise me. He obviously used Christians to gain political office.

All I want from a politician is one who is honest about his beliefs so I can make an informed decision. I am sick of the subterfuge to get votes.

It’s an old faith and to some extent is a legacy of Arius who did not believe in the Divinity of Christ. There was also a movement later with the same theory. One of their leaders, Michael Servetus was burned at the stake by John Calvin for his blasphemy.

Basically they eschew creeds or a set of beliefs. It’s been defined as “a mattress for skeptics who still want to think they must belong to a religion” for social purposes or to feel like they are part of the mainstream. Like many such organizations, their membership has declined pretty substantially. These days skeptics/atheists/agnostics no longer feel they should belong to any sort of ‘church’ so there is less to draw them in. However in the day when everyone felt they must belong to a church it was something that was good cover for non-believers.

The truly interesting thing is that if you read the IRS Code regarding what makes a church, there are reference to creeds, sets of beliefs etc. I suspect if anyone made the case Unitarianism would have a difficult time qualifying now.

Interesting. Thx. I know the Church of Scientology battled the IRS in court for several years to get recognized as a church.

'Scuse me PNewton but have you read ANY newspaper or even the headline when you open up a web browser? Headlines are DESIGNED to grab people’s attention. The NYT often has extremely misleading headlines that are invariably perjorative with respect to traditional values, religion or conservatives. Read the article and buried near the end is an actual piece of news that is likely not nearly as sensational as the headline. This is a journalistic technique.

Lifenews has an agenda. OK so what? People who read it are likely to share that agenda. They make no excuses for their prolife position. OTOH the NYT, WaPo and many other mainstream papers CLAIM to be NEWS not position oriented when in fact they are often pushing an agenda that they think we are too stupid to figure out.
Lisa
Would be nice to find a non-partisan news outlet that you can trust. Lifenews nor the NYT are not part of that group.

Well good luck with that. All of them have an agenda although some pretend or claim they do not. I particularly get a kick out of NPR claiming they are non-partisan…yeah right.

You just need to read beyond the headlines, verify the information with multiple sources and I imagine you will get the truth.

As to LifeSite news do you have a particular incident where they provided false information?

Lisa

I think this tactic of Obama’s demonstrates his complete disdain for religious & moral convictions. & this also reveals his beyond-words arrogance. Manipulate the conscience of the confused or ill informed Catholic? Twist and distort God’s law for Obama’s re-election? There is something very dark and sinister going on. Do you notice how many in key positions to promote the anti-Catholic/Christian tactics of this administration id themselves as Catholic?
