What freaks me out is that Washington apparently legalized recreational Marijuana.

I have suffered bad asthma since I was a kid. My community has A LOT of smokers. I can smell it from down the street and it makes me weezy. I can’t imagine how it will be if I have to smell it everyday and can’t complain.

42 million aborted babies. Rest In Peace.

I live in the Far East.
I’m just curious. O:
Oh, well, in the US, we have a lot of outreaches to the general public, all run by dioceses and parishes and so on. They’re all going to have trouble with a new law called the HHS mandate. That new law is Obama’s pet project.

So in order to avoid paying huge fines, we’re going to have to change things around with respect to how many employees and all that.

Don’t worry, the Church isn’t going to change what it teaches on our account. The Catholic Church in the USA is only 5% of the global Catholic Church. We’re sort of a goofy afterthought. Everybody expects Americans to be goofy…and we are. We have to do things the hard way sometimes. 😦

Bread and circuses. The Romans survived it, most of them anyway, and so will we.
If you’re referring to the Roman Empire (?), then they most certainly did not survive their excesses. That nation perished due to its immorality and excesses. Our nation is following a similar pattern. Yes, individuals will survive, but there is no guarantee that America will if we keep following the current path.

Ah yes, I’ve heard of that.
Seeing as our side would not obey it, then the Obama administration can outlaw our religion, sadly.

I don’t know what that all means, but what I do have a sense of is that for the first time in our nation’s history the number of people who expect the government to solve all their problems now exceeds the number of people who believe each person should take responsibility for themselves. That was also reflected in today’s vote, and I believe this new demographic landscape could very well put this nation into a death spiral from which it cannot recover. The new majority will eventually cause the bankruptcy of our country as they continue to elect politicians who promiss to take care of all their needs.
This is an interesting observation , not least because this is something I see here on this forum a lot…people wanting their priest or the church to make their decisions for them rather than wrestle with them themselves, in the company of the church. It is very easy to say that one candidate was pro life and therefore one should vote on this one issue. I’m not in the USA nor am I catholic but I am personally glad that it is not Romney in charge of the USA nuclear arsenal…which could wipe out whole nations.

The empire fell, but there were still people living in the city of Rome, Chris-WA, just fewer of them with less influence and far less wealth. There have been residents of Rome since about 800BC.

Im not even American, Im English. However I am Catholic and I love you all and Im thinking of you and just try to believe that everything will be alright in the end. God is on your side. Just remember; “Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”

I don’t know how you get from pro-life Catholic to nuclear arsenal in one short paragraph, waterbrook. That’s the loosest-strung-together thing I’ve seen in a long time, and I’ve seen some loosely-strung-together stuff.

Thank you Rachel.

Not sure what you mean to say, Crescentius. Can you be more specific?
Seeing as there are Catholics in the U.S. who oppose the HHS mandate among other absurdities that are supported by the Obama administration, then it can outlaw Catholicism for all sorts of reasons (such as hate crime charges).
Also, you missed the whole “Obama is going to control the population of my people” response. O:

Another suggestion is to fly the Confederate flag. That will upset the liberal-progressives.
I fly the flag of the Confederate State of Louisiana. It was under this flag that my great-great-great-great-great Grandfather Elias was taken captive at Vicksburg.

I guess I still don’t understand what you’re trying to say, Crescentius.

Where would you ever get the idea that Romney would somehow be more likely to use the nuclear arsenal to wipe out whole nations? The guy is as stable as they come. He is no more or no less likely to deploy nukes than Obama. I don’t know what information you’re getting over there but you need some more reliable sources.

Iloveangels, which of my statements you do not understand?
First you said something about Obama trying to do something with population control in your country, but I don’t know where you are, so

And then you asked me about something I had said which I explained.

And then you said something about freedom of religion, to which I have no answer. I mean I’m not jumping to conclusions about anything like that. We do have the HHS mandate. Have you read anything about that?
