Yes, what glorious freedom our churches would have if this addiction were turned on its head! It’s the same as having the same freedom within our homes considering the credit-debt many of us are suffering from.

I’m not sure that these teachings have been deliberately abandoned; rather, I think that they have not been clearly taught to the past few generations.
We need to redouble our efforts to create and provide strong catechetichal programs and support out priests as they seek to catechise their flocks…

My thinking, as flawed as I’m sure it is at times, is that we need to resist these violations to our freedom…as often and as frequently as is possible within the guidelines of the laws that, thus, oppress us.

I have property interest in Costa Rica. Brazil looks interesting as well. Great place for expats. Good job environment, no massive government looking to dictate your life to you. I am going to hold on a bit to see what Texas does. I have land interest there as well. I would be happy as a citizen of the Republic of Texas.
 
Shouldn’t we resist, instead of run? I’m not saying you would run, but I truly have the spirit within me, this night, that our Civil War brethren certainly had so many years ago.

Are you concerned that being in a higher earning tax bracket that you will have to pay more tax?

Resist? How? I firmly believe that God has handed the United States over to the Adversary for rebuking and chastisement. He’s done it to Israel on numerous occations. Read the old Testament. God’s covenant has two parts, His part, and our part. We have failed on our part, so why should He continue to bless and protect this nation? I suggest that people of sincere faith move somewhere where the government cannot compel you to violate your conscience and your faith.

True…but how many times did God come to the aid to his Chosen in the Old Testament, giving them chance after chance to prove themselves? We are only 200 years old as a country.

It would be wonderful to see schools beefing up their catechetical courses, requiring teachers to have received the sacrament of confirmation, offer additional training in apologetics, and require Catholic content in lesson plans. Perhaps the Obama administration will inadvertently spur on the New Evangelization and our schools will become centers for missionary activity even as they reclaim their Catholic identities.🙂

The new testament is pretty clear that people of faith should “flee to the mountains” during times of tribulation. I don’t think we should take that warning lightly.

"And then many will fall away and betray one another and hate one another. And many false prophets will arise and lead many astray. And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

So when you see the abomination of desolation spoken of by the prophet Daniel, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand),then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains; let him who is on the housetop not go down to get the things out that are in his house; and let him who is in the field not turn back to get his cloak.
