World’s most prosperous nations with the most happiest people are Scandinavian countries which are generally socialists in policy and governance with a 40-60% tax rate.

Scandinavian countries have continued to dominate the top of the global index, which takes measurements from across eight categories: economy, education, entrepreneurship & opportunity, governance, health, personal freedom, safety & security and social capital.

TAX RATES PER NATION

Praise God! I am so glad he won and I’ll tell you why. I appreciate that he is crystal clear on where he stands. Remember that verse that says it’s better to be hot or cold than in the middle and lukewarm? I saw Romney that way. He waffled so much I could not trust him to take any sort of stand or even be telling the truth at all. I know we’re talking politicians here. Romney made millions off of disposing aborted fetus’ and was a shareholder in the company that manufactures the morning after pill. He was lying to get the Christian vote and God exacted his vengence for lying to His people.

Obama has backed off some on HHS and I think if we keep pushing we can get it back. I see him as willing to cross party lines and he doesn’t change his mind 100 times a day. I was ecstatic becuase I truly believe Romney, who takes companies and sells them to China, was dangerous to our economy.

I am grinning all day. If Romney would have won everyone would have said it’s God’s will. Now that Obama has, we must say the same, after all–you can’t have it both ways. God will bring out His will in His way and at least as a social worker I don’t have to worry about my mentally ill clients having their benefits cut. I am so relieved.

Thanks be to God.
It has been said many times before, America has become a nation of leaches and those who take wealth from productive members and feed the leaches which justifies voting for Obama.

TAX RATES PER NATION

Do you want us to repost (again) the net effect on the deficit and debt of jacking the tax rates?

Which of those countries have 16 trillion in debt, and a comparable economy?

Why not compare the budget of Vermont to the US budget too?

blah blah blah…
Except you left out the little fact they have higher suicide rates than most nations…hmmm trouble in paradise?

Oh and many of those top countries have extremely small populations?

There are elements in the republican party that need reform and people such as Paul Ryan, Marco Rubio, Rand Paul, Bobby Jindal, Susana Martinez, Nikki Haley etc are the people to do it

What do you think needs transformation in the democrat party?
While I voted for Obama, as you know, I did not approve of his handling of the HHS mandate by limiting religious institutions in the name of women’s rights. Liberals must learn to be more sensitive to believers and not violate or crack down on their religious freedoms in social settings, even as conservatives must learn to at least tolerate diversity of religious beliefs and non-beliefs and not feel so constantly threatened by this.

Obama has been persecuting our Church. He has been persecuting the unborn around the world and the survivors of abortion.

But he did not prosecute DOMA.

He is an enemy of Chastity through ongoing support of sexual licence, so is he not an enemy of the Holy Spirit Who supplies all virtues?

Whatever the other candidates, grinning for an enemy and thinking God will say “you’re welcome” to those who persecute His holy bride shows a grave lack of understanding of truth, of reality.

My understanding is that the correlation is not to tax rates, but to parity of income distribution. The countries with the narrowest gap between rich and poor, also perform the best in every measure of social welfare and happiness. It even seems to be true, that the rich don’t do as well in the countries with the widest income gaps. Their counterparts in other countries who are not as rich, are happier and healthier by just about every measure.

This effect does not appear to be related to HOW income is distributed. Japan and Sweden are both at the top of the list among wealthy nations. Japan achieves a healthier income distribution by limiting top pay. Sweden achieves it with high personal income and inheritance tax rates. The net result in terms of social welfare is about the same in each country.

Unfortunately for Americans, the US is exactly last on the list. People in the US are less happy and less healthy than other prosperous nations. They also have the widest income gap. The correlation appears to be entirely linear.

More research needs to be done, but they are interesting findings.

Youi’d better pray that they don’t get downgraded to part time or get fired (due to the high costs of Obama Care that employers will have to pay) or they will lose their benefits.

BTW, where are you getting the HHS mandate information…because Obama has NOT backed down. Catholic charitable organizations and schools, etc, will be forced to pay for employees contraceptives, sterilization and abortions and the VERY narrow religious exemption will NOT be applied to most Catholic organizations because they HELP everyone REGARDLESS of RELIGION.

I agree. Sooner or later something’s gotta give. All these services do not come from a never ending cornucopia of plenty.
You mean there isn’t a magic wallet that belongs to someone else to keep reaching into with a never ending supply of cash?! I am stunned to learn that!

One example is the term “war against women”. I personally find it insulting that something as important as women’s health has been reduced to free contraceptives and abortions.

Meanwhile women are worrying about jobs and affordable healthcare.

Too bad my thread was deleted, because it raised a very valid point and had a news story to report it. I guess challenging any issue that doesn’t fit with mods idealism is not going to be tolerated here. You can read the story here:

news.yahoo.com/obama-bets-electorate-matches-2008-wins-100747098–election.html?bcmt_s=m#ugccmt-container

This republican party is not gong to make any progress until they abandon their extremist ways. Keep abortion and gay marriage out of politics, and lets focus on the things we actually can work on. Quit trying to tell women what they can and can’t do with their bodies. 55% of women voted for Obama in this election, and it’s no surprise. Whoever the next republican candidate will be in 2016, it will without a shadow of doubt be more of a moderate without extreme religious views. Paul Ryan is not going to be an option.

Look for the real inflation rate to approach double digits as qualitative easing leads to hyperinflation.
À la Germany, 1923.

P.S. FYI, you don’t have to turn fonts on and off for each paragraph.

Do you consider the Catholic Church and other mainstream Christian demoninations to hold extreme Religious views?

There’s no reason to believe liberals will change their position.

Why do you want ppl that advocate baby murders ? :tsktsk:

You got your wish… just hope you can afford all the taxes and being able to sleep at night with all the babies being killed with your own tax dollars. And if you can still sleep… smh
I’ll admit I’m thrilled with the outcome. And because Dems picked up Senate seats it will be easier to get liberal justices on the court.
