The only part of Medicare that’s “free” is Part A. Medicare people already pay a premium for Part B and Part D.
The concept is not all that foreign.
A minor correction, while people pay a premium for parts B and D, I know that in the case of part B the premium covers only about 25% of the cost, the rest is picked up by people who work for a living. I know it is a good deal because my state makes it’s retired state workers (who get free health insurance) buy part B and the state reimburses them for the full cost of the premium.

Hi, Mickey Finn,

Well ‘labor guy’ looks like you have some real choices to make. You see, it is the Dems who are pushing for abortion on demand, taxpayer funded abortions and gun control. If you think withholding votes from Republicans are going to further the interests of pro-life groups - and the lives of babies themselves - then there are probably not many people joinging you.

If you want to punish Republican lawmakers so that unions can continue to gouge taxpayers - well, prepare to be gouged. And, while you can grin and bear it - what about the other issues that you support? And, just to put it in perspective, for the Catholic Church being pro-life is not just one issue among others - it is the only issue that we can focus on right now. Secure the rights of the unborn first - who knows, some will grow up to be ‘labor guys’ too! 😃

God bless
I believe I already support the Pro-life movement. I’m just not going to feed a dog that bites me.🤷

I’m sorry, but there is nothing ambiguous about that statement. That is the most racist statement I have read on this forum.

Some members asked me to share what I know about post riot Detroit, and white flight. What I know, is that it was Racism. Not the sort of thing you can sugar coat.

I never worry about the rich, and rarely think of them at all. Around here, it’s impossible to tell the rich from the poor by appearances. The local joke is that the only way you can tell which person is a factory worker and which one is the millionaire is that the factory worker’s pickup truck is newer.

What all out assault on workers’ rights have you deemed sufficiently important to support abortion for, as you seem determined to do?

Hi, Mickey Finn,

Better find another policy ‘flag’ to wave - the so-called ‘Buffett Rule’ was defeated by the US Senate - with the aid of at least one Democratic crossing over to vote against it! 👍

You know, there is nothing in the Declaration of Independence, Constitution, Federalist Papers or any Supreme Court decision that claims ‘fairness’ is what our country was built on, that ‘pay your fair share’ is the motto for moving the 13 Colonies into a real country or that Big Government is the Best Government or that Socialism is the philosophical principle that has made our country great. The ‘Buffett Rule’ was a failed policy before the Senate voted it down.

So, tell me, just what possible benefit do you see in the ‘Buffett Rule’?

God bless

But it is not what you “know”, it is what you believe. Whites had a goal to seal Detroit’s fate? Really? When did “whites” get to gether to come up with this goal? Do you have any documentation of this plan? Or are you sure that it was “whites”? Maybe “blacks” had a plan to run of “whites” so that they could have Detroit to themselves, but it just didn’t work out as well as they planned. How do you know it was only “whites”?

Is racism a one way street?

Hi, Orogeny,

One of the posters had a quote under his signature that I thought was pretty good.

“To those with only a hammer, everything is a nail.”

Listing states doesn’t tell us anything. Be specific.

We know you’re for the Buffett rule. How do you feel about the other “Buffett Rule”. In 2010, Berkshire Hathaway (Buffett’s Fund) bought Burlington Northern. One of that railroad’s chief cargoes is oil from Canada’s tar sands, going to refineries in Texas. Buffett is a big political and financial supporter of not only Obama but Neb. Senator Ben Nelson. Nelson happens to own $5 million in Berkshire Hathaway stock. Now, the Keystone Pipeline would take a lot of freight business away from Burlington Northern, and therefore from Berkshire Hathaway, and therefore from Buffett and Nelson. Nelson is the principal opponent of the Keystone Pipeline and has enlisted two Buffett-supported environmental groups to make all the fuss and propaganda. And so, Obama won’t approve the Keystone Pipeline, and thereby hurt the financial interests of one of his major supporters, even though it would create jobs and improve America’s fuel supplies as well as making them less costly. (Keep in mind that the Keystone Pipeline would not use a cent of government money…and, yes, it’s “shovel ready”)

“Buffett Rule #2” then, is “Buy politicians to make money even if it is detrimental to the country”.

So, the questions are: 1. Do you also support Buffett Rule #2? and 2. If not, and if you see the corruption in Rule #2, why do you think Rule #1 is any more honest than Rule #2?

“Buffett Rule #2” then, is “Buy politicians to make money even if it is detrimental to the country”.
Or Buffet Rule #3

Make massive donations to the president’s party and also make loud public statements claiming to support higher taxes for the wealthy while not paying the largest delinquent tax bill in the history of the IRS.

BRAVO! This is exactly the reason Buffet’s claims are SO disingenuous. He’s gotten his pile of money using the very rules and laws that he now begrudges for others. Further when asked why he doesn’t just write a check to the Treasury instead of giving money to various foundations that support causes dear to him, he says well he thinks those foundations use the money more effectively than the federal government.

Nothing like “do as I say not as I do” to make an argument totally without credibility.

My problem is with that mentality - a mentality that leads to a lot of ill-feeling towards the poor. Just listen to the ugly and hateful rhetoric towards the poor in today’s political climate. Personally I am disgusted by it.

In the past, Christians use to call poor people unfortunates. They were unlucky. Now people look at them with contempt and derision. Why? Because they think poor people deserve their lot in life. It’s all their own doing. Everything is on them. That’s wrong, and it’s time people started saying so. Find some compassion in your hearts, for God’s sake…
Another strawman set aflame! Like many on the Left you forget those essential details. For example the Left claims that Conservatives are against immigration or that they hate Hispanics. Ridiculous. What Conservatives object to are illegal immigrants who come here to utilize our resources whilst sending the money they earn back to their home country. That many in this category are from Mexico allows the Left to claim Conservatives hate Hispanics. Were the same number of illegals to come from Greece then we’d be hearing that Conservatives hate Greeks.

To bring it back to this discussion, tell me you hear contempt for the poor simply because they are poor. Tell me you hear your fellow CAB members hating on the needy or refusing to give time, talent and treasure to organizations that help the poor. That’s not what I read in the objections to INCREASED GOVERNMENT INTERFERENCE AND HIGHER TAXES. You need to separate the two issues.

I pay a lot of taxes, state, federal, property etc. I consider it the price of living in this wonderful country and I don’t resent that I pay thousands every year to the local school district although I have never had a child who used those resources for example. But what I DO resent is the know it alls in Washington who think my hard earned money should go for their pet projects, their wasteful and ineffective programs, their political cronies and their anti-life agenda.

So my position is that every government program should start at a zero budget and justify itself. I think we’d have far fewer Solyndras and HHS mandates and GSA boondoggles if someone were watching the store. But instead we have the Left when faced with an ever increasing deficit demanding more and more of our money instead of seeing where funds can be cut and applied to those functions that ARE truly the province of government.

I am a faithful Catholic and I’d be happy to compare my contributions of TTT to anyone on the Left who claims I’m hating on “the poor.” I’m not. I"m “hating” if you must use this word on the likes of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid and Chuck Schumer who love playing Lord or Lady Bountiful with other people’s money.

Well written LisaA.

I don’t understand how one can say that many Conservatives hate poor people. Most reasonable minded Conservatives I know advocate some form of personal responsibility or accountablility.

Simply handing out government benefits like candy does not help anyone in the long run.

It’s what I know. Granted, it doesn’t go along with the most recent outbreak of revisionism. But, it is the truth none the less. I’m not sure what someone from Houston knows about Detroit. But, if you around the web. I’m sure you can find some documentation of racism in 1960s Detroit. Matter of fact, look around *your *town. I’m sure you can come up with some instances of racism.

See Lisa I think your pretty far off the mark here.

1.You start off with a false premise. What conservatives object to… They object to anything that doesn’t serve their own greed. Persuader is right. Think back to the recent budget crisis. Remember all of the freshman Senators, and Reps. Chanting shut it down, shut it down? These “Libertarians” Have subverted the Republican party. They would shut down the government to forward their twisted austerity measures. Their austerity is twisted, because it centers on privitization. Why? Because it helps to feed their greed. The top one percent have seen unprecedented expansion of their wealth. While the wages of workers, whos toil actually creates the wealth. Have either remained stagnant, or decreased. When Wall Street, ran the worlds economy into the ditch. Rather than learn, that unbridled greed and risk taking are bad. They immediately started in on diverting blame. People who are in fear of losing their very homes. Are easy to spoon feed a scape goat to. They reason that they have had pay cuts. They gave up their pensions for the promise of wealth through their 401Ks.
Public workers. They make too much money! They still have a pension! They get to take vacations! We are seeing the same in your “PIGS”. The EU (GERMANY?) was only willing to extend aid as long as the austerity measures they proscribed, were adopted. These center on privitization of public holdings and works
  1. Solyndra was unable to compete with equipment imported from asia. China to be specific.
  2. An estimated $290.89 billion were gifted in 2010. So, your not the only person giving to charities.😉
