As we mark the 39th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, we must remember that this Supreme Court decision not only protects a woman’s health and reproductive freedom, but also affirms a broader principle: that government should not intrude on private family matters. I remain committed to protecting a woman’s right to choose and this fundamental constitutional right. While this is a sensitive and often divisive issue- no matter what our views, we must stay united in our determination to prevent unintended pregnancies, support pregnant woman and mothers, reduce the need for abortion, encourage healthy relationships, and promote adoption. And as we remember this historic anniversary, we must also continue our efforts to ensure that our daughters have the same rights, freedoms, and opportunities as our sons to fulfill their dreams.

I’m still looking for the clause of the U.S. Constitution that grants “reproductive freedom”.
 
Even though I didn’t actually vote for him, I wholeheartedly regret voting for him in our (Catholic) high school’s mock election.

I agree Suudy. Why would they want to reduce the need for abortion if it’s a fundamental right? It’s like saying you need to reduce speech, even though that’s a fundamental right as well? :rolleyes:

What on this earth could be more barbarous than the killing of an unborn child, by the choice of its mother, through the agency of a doctor and with the blessing of the state?

My daughters will have every opportunity that anyone’s son has, but because my wife and I teach them the value of hard work, perseverence, temperence, and the value of human life.

That line there makes my heart ache 😦 To hear someone indicate that abortion is simply a means whereby a woman can have a life without the interference of a ‘pregnancy’ to dash her hopes and dreams, while dismissing the option to keep her legs together and abstain from sex; simply blows my mind away. (And I’m not saying it’s a females problem only, men need to be abstaining too!)

I read that 51% of the Catholic vote will support Obama’s re-election.

I am sure there are lots of girls who dream of killing thier children when they grow up-NOT. And yet there are catholics who will still vote for this man depsite this despicable attitude.

My son doesn’t dream of killing his own kids in the future, so I am not sure where he is going with this.

Or, for that matter, the “right to privacy”. No such phrase exists anywhere, including the amendments.

Pretty sure abortions do not always protect women’s health…rather, it is bad for many women.

I’m pretty sure that sex causes pregnancies, not abortions.

Allowing women to undergo the tragedy of killing their baby is not supporting them.

Well, let us all keep the March for Life participants in our prayers and continue to pray for an end to abortion and its legalization!
 
What’s really sad, Obama thinks himself a Christian. As do the various others in his administration who vote for programs that continue the systematic killing of the innocents and then they attend church services and Mass on the weekend.

EXACTLY. I asked this is another thread on this same news bit.

I wish someone to whom the President must publicly answer would ask him why he says we should “reduce the need for abortions” after he’s just said we should “fight to protect the right to have them”??
