Cracker Mom –

You are correct in that the Special Olympics is for those w/ intellectual disabilities and not physical ones. (I believe that is the Paralympics, which is a separate thing.) And yes, it is true that - technically - I have a different type of disability than those who participate in the Special Olympics. I totally understand your point.

I guess when this whole thing happened, my immediate thought was wanting to defend those w/ developmental disabilities because I feared they couldn’t defend themselves against what was being said about them online. By that – I mean, the remarks that Obama’s comments were “no big deal,” “small potatoes”, that they should just “learn to take a joke”, etc…. Being physically disabled, I felt I could “relate” to those in the Special Olympics in a way able-bodied people couldn’t, so I felt justified in pushing back against the comments I saw online. Despite all the comments I’ve exchanged w/ others, I still feel this way, since I see those w/ developmental disabilities as sharing in some of the same struggles that I am.

Hope that explains my stance.

I magine what would happen if Bush had said such a thing. I see the pitchforks and torches just as clear.
You’ve got that right, they would want to tar and feather Bush! And can you imagine what would happen if Bush had suggested that our military have private insurance to cover their war injuries or had recommended 4 tax cheats for important positions?

Obama seems to be trying soooo hard to be COOL and SMOOTH and POPULAR…
… how can we expect him to be COMPOSED, SENSITIVE and POLITE at the same
time??? The “folks” got what they voted for. Now we ALL have to do the PENANCE!
Code:
Like my 19 yr-old nursing student at Franciscsn U. said the day after the election...
"Let's give Obama to Our Mama"...Our Lady, Mother of the Americas, pray for us!!!

Im not an american, so my confidence does not matter on the whole. But certainly on election day me and a lot of people i know where glued to the tv hoping that Obama would get in, actually to be fair McCain wasnt all that bad. I just didnt like Palin.

I know that he has upset a lot of people with his stance on abortion, which is understandable considering. However i do think that he will do you all proud in the years to come. He has a really tough time of it. He has inherited a country in serious trouble. The finanical system has gone arse up, their are wars in 2 countrys still being fought. And generally their is a lot more anti-american feeling in the rest of the world.

He has an uphill struggle, but i think at the end of the day despite his appauling sense of humor he will end up doing great things for your country.
Hi Squishy,

I’d like to be able to concur that Obama will help our country, but I cannot. If a nation’s government blatantly disregards God’s commandments regarding life issues such as abortion and embryonic stem cell research, etc.; and mandates gay “rights” when this lifestyle is a known abomination in God’s eyes, then God removes His protection from the nation. Just look at the OT to see evidence of this. I pray for him every day for his safety and conversion.

Another concern is that if he gets assassinated by a white person, there could be retaliation by blacks and many innocent people could be killed. People think that civil unrest cannot happen in this country again but I do think that it can happen in these uncertain times.

I have no confidence in Obama. I keep hearing how smart he is. If he’s so smart how come he keeps announcing tax cheats for important positions BEFORE checking them out first. He selected Bill Richardson for Secretary of Commerce when it had already been reported that he was under investigation for ‘pay to play’.

He wanted our wounded military to pay for private health insurance to take care of their war wounds. I can’t imagine any of our previous presidents suggesting such a thing.

When he was an Illinois senator, he voted at least 3 times to deny medical treatment for a baby that survived an abortion.

I think this guy is in over his head but the adoring media won’t call him on it.

God help us to survive this guy.

Has anyone seen Bernard Goldberg on Book-TV this weekend? His new book is about just that.

Much ado about very little…
I (and many others) am tired to the death of the “political correctness” that over shadows all people say, do & think.
