President Obama said at a campaign event on Friday that the June jobs report shows the economy has taken “a step in the right direction.”

The report showed unemployment remained unchanged in June at 8.2 percent and the economy added 80,000 jobs.

“That overall means that businesses have creatd 4.4 million jobs over the past 28 months,” Obama said at a rally in Poland, Ohio. “That’s a step in the right direction… But we can’t be satisfied because our goal was never to keep on working to get back to where we were in 2007.”

“We’ve got to grow the economy even faster, and we’ve got to put even more people back to work,” he said.

The president’s reaction echoed that of the chairman of his Council of Economic Advisers, Alan Krueger, who pointed to overall growth after the report was released and noted that the unemployment rate, although unchanged in the past month, is down nearly one percentage point from a year ago.

Wait for the revised number to come out in a couple weeks. If unemployment has stayed the same and the number of workers looking for work has declined because the number not looking for work has gone up and the number have jobs also declined where did the 4 million jobs come from? 🤷

When your unemployment runs out and you can’t feed your family you suddenly have a back injury. Who can blame them.
I tell yah in this Leftist-Democrat-Obama economy…You’re a SUCKER for wanting to try and work.

When I was working at Kroger breaking my back on the First of the Month I felt like a real jerk…watching all these welfare deadbeats with their SSI and WICS, TANF and Food stamps and EBT cards…I really sat down on my 38 degree milk crate with an aching back saying to myself “Wow what am I doing wrong?”

It has been clear for quite some time that the direction he has chosen for the country is not what is generally considered the right direction.

When Obama says the right direction, you can bet that something has caused damage to this country.

who suffers a back injury from their unemployment running out???

there are a lot of people that have given up looking for work, so many of them have turned to disability. and believe me, a lot of them know how to work the system and qualify for disability when they really shouldn’t. there are some people with legitimate disabilities, but i know of many who are very good actors.

i know what you mean!! also, when i look at my paycheck after working my job for two weeks (which i am overqualified for) and see how little i am making and how much the government takes out for taxes to help pay for SSI. WIC, TANF and food stamps and state run health care, i feel like i am working more for the state than for myself!

i wish obama would just keep his mouth shut!! i can’t stand to watch him or listen to him.
this has been for 4 years now. it’s all mumbo-jumbo to me when he opens his mouth.
'TELL THEM WHAT THEY WANT TO HEAR!" ---- even if it is a lie!

I guess it depends on what direction you want to go.

The economy needs 200,000 jobs monthly just to keep the unemployment number even (without resorting to current methodology of simply lying). If your goal is 120,000 more unemployed each month then keeping walking that way Barry.
👍

Politico says the economy needs between 100000 and 125000 new jobs per month just to keep pace with the number of people entering US labor

I think Politico is trying to hard. I remember when it was 300,000 per month. But todays Wall Street Journal says 200,000 jobs per month:
And if the consensus proves correct, it could leave the Fed in the tough spot. Another 100,000 jobs likely isn’t bad enough to push the Fed off the sidelines and prompt Chairman Ben Bernanke to implement more stimulus.
Considering all the gloom and doom that has surrounded the economy of late, any upside to this report could be a welcome development.
Just don’t confuse a slightly upbeat number with an actual good jobs report. The economy needs to add about 200,000 jobs just to keep up with population growth. Anything less indicates the recovery still has a long way to go before it can get back onto solid footing.

Um, if the economy needs between 125,000 and 200,000 jobs a month to keep even regarding unemployment, doesn’t a number below that mean unemployment went up? And all those months where it was less than that, we were told that it wasn’t going up.

You don’t need to find a Higgs Boson or bosom for that kind of basic math.

Anyone who votes for this ineptitude in the handling of the economy deserves whatever they get as a result. Cry me a river about a poor economy and job loss if you bought into this mess. My sympathy is for the people who knew what a disaster this would and still pay for it.

He knew the state of the country when he ran in 08, and claimed he could fix it. Claimed he would be a transcendent president. A transparent president. A uniter.

Has he done any of that? The country is as divided as ever, he can’t even unite his part, much less congress. The economy stinks, and has not improved in 3.5 years! He is less transparent than the last president.

And this doesn’t even begin to address his stance on moral issues (“Hey, I am not personally a fan of abortion, but hey, let’s rescind that Mexico City policy on day one, mmmkay?”). Thank goodness I held my nose and voted for McCain. I’d be extremely embarrassed otherwise.

The government will report 7.5% unemployment by November no matter the real unemployment rate is.

I can’t imagine having such a disdain for others. You do realize that people shop for groceries when they’re not at work? “Deadbeats” is a rude term, and it shouldn’t be allowed here. I’ll say it a million times here if i have to, but not everyone is misusing government assistance, and it is uncharitable to assume that is the case.

To be fair, Obama could work miracles tomorrow and this forum would still find a reason to hate him.
