This is so true! If Obama had spent 10 yrs actually working in the Senate, he would have been a far more capable President.

Maybe even if he had administered a Govt agency of even modest size just for a few years, and been responsible for achieving goals, hiring, firing, and managing a budget, he would have been far more capable as our Chief Executive Officer.

than most Americans. Obama did a lot of thngs wrong.
 
I don’t agree with Maureen Dowd on everything, but she often has some interesting insights.
Emotions are still running very high, but future historians stand to make names and reputations (and book sales profits!) for themselves with “2016 US Election Studies”.
There is so much to unpack…
 
He certainly pushed too hard with the ACA even though it was the right thing to do and it ended up distorted.

ACA was a complete and utter disaster in it’s design and implementation.
Sibelius was so bad I wonder if she was secretly against it all

He should have just added a 10% tax on existing plans and used the money to extend medicaid to the truely needy, just above those not already qualified.
 
We know how he damaged our country - perhaps his ego has been crushed enough to let him question his life. Do Moslems believe in reincarnation? He can ponder how his next one will make him the Supreme Ruler he wanted to be.
 
He caused a whole lot of people to part with a whole bunch of money for nothing.
 
LOL…let’s take any focus on today, and divert it to yesterday…Obama, Clinton, and the rest are gone…its time for the right to address the indiscretions of Trump instead of tippy toeing around them and pointing back in history.
 
President Trump’s Administration has accomplished more good news for all Americans, and efforts for a nuclear/ peace with N.Korea has been getting everyone’s hopes raised . Pretty good for 18 months in office, right? “Accent the positive, eliminate the negative, and latch on to the affirmative, don’t mess with Mr. Inbetween”! (so goes the old song).

OK, fair enough…but how does dragging previous Presidential administrations the current administrations positive contributions. Or, is only the negative of the current administration that should be eliminated?

How does that differentiate him from Trump. Don is not a model of humility.

The better idea would have been to completely privatize medicare parts B and D and eliminate the government subsidies to those programs. That would have freed up plenty of money to provide healthcare to the poor.
 
I’m not so sure. Typically Senators have a difficult time winning the Presidency.
 
The framework of the ACA (no more prexisting conditions, reduced commissions, instant signup) would be difficult to repeal even when physicians do not accept certain coverage.

There is no doubt the rollout of the exchanges was a disaster in 2014 but it seems to have stabilized.

I don’t agree with Jesse Jackson about much of anything. But he was right when he said Obama was, ‘talking down to black people‘. Of course Obama talked down to everyone. That is part of the explanation for why the reaction to him was Trump. Obama helped Trump win. Of course he has too high an opinion of himself to ever realize that.
