Obama certainly says he is a Christian despite that “we Muslims” gaffe. And I don’t doubt that it was a gaffe.

From the Muslim point of view, though, he probably is a Muslim, albeit an apostate Muslim. He lived with his father in Indonesia for quite some time and went to mosque with his father. “Becoming a Muslim” is pretty easy. All you have to do is know basically what Islam is, repeat “There is no god but Allah, and Mohammed is his prophet” and mean it. Once will do. Then you’re a Muslim and liable to death for apostasy if you change, or at least to some Muslims, apostasy is a capital offense.

None of that means he thinks of himself as a Muslim. But during his presidency, I sometimes wondered whether the Secret Service took that “death to apostates” business into account in planning his protection.
One would think it would add a layer of risk.
 
Eh, depends. WWIII might facilitate that particular change. Putin, Xi, and Obama Forever!

Umm…yeah, he pushed too far alright. Him and Kathleen Sebelius were relentless in pushing way too far in subjecting the Little Sisters of the Poor to enormous fines, for simply obeying their consciences and sticking to their beliefs and not providing contraceptives, abortifacients and sterilizations in their health benefits packages as per the HHS Mandate. So relentless were they in fact, that they fought the Little Sisters tooth and nail all the way up to the Supreme Court!
 
And Warren Harding said "“I am not fit for this office and should never have been here.” Sure did not like THAT President!!

If you thought so, you could have simply ignored the post. It was definitely outside your argument with Grotto, but I’m not part of that argument. Just seemed to me to be a bit of information people might want to know if they didn’t already.

  • The ‘birther’ movement was ridiculous, I also think Obama intentionally milked it as it made opponents look the fool.
  • I don’t care if a future POTUS is a practicing Muslim. 98% are great people, I just have a problem with the jihadists and that mainstream Muslims seem to tolerate this bad behavior.
  • I think Obama has more than your average sympathy for Muslims, but this is perfectly logical considering he spent several formative years in a Muslim country. I too have a deeper understanding of other cultures where I’ve lived. Voters just need full disclosure during the campaign season.

i was responding to post #9 about Obama questioning his life after being president.
i guess the difference might be President Trump was a self made millionaire before he became president. Obama seems to have used being president as a stepping stone to creating millions for himself.
was he elected for being a wealthy elitist?
i don’t think so, but dollar signs seems all that he is interested in now.

Ah Hah! I try to get to the truth of the matter. Obama’s only background story is from his book - the other records are sealed. They were sealed from the get go - those Chicago Commies know how to operate. William Ayers (Bill to his friends) was the lead in the Weather Underground out of Chicago. He was a Professor at the University of Illinois and they connected Bill “helped” Barry write his autobiography - Obama claims he changed his name but that is not documented. Too many empty and undocumented facts in his background. But - he was elected twice (much to our dismay).

I don’t remember any one complaining about insurance companies covering birth control prior to ACA. It just wasn’t politicized.
 
Self-made, hardly. He inherited lots of millions, not to mention the name. That’s a big advantage. I doubt we see too many 7 Sorrows or Pro Vobis on buildings we don’t own.
 
Most of it with borrowed money he had trouble paying back. And now no US bank will lend to him.

It was big deal to him that he had to settle to pay $25 million for his Trump University failure. So don’t kid yourself on how much liquidity he really has.
