That is precisely why you live in a right-wing bubble parallel to reality, and I don’t. I live in actual reality.
Please elaborate.

If you knew my life story, you’d be embarrassed for a remark like that.

Did you think I was implying more?

Christine is careful when she chooses a charity to support and so checks how their dollars are spent. I do likewise. My comment went to the fact that even some Catholic charities are badly managed. 🤷
Fair enough, thank you for the examples!

Perhaps. But if Ann Romney’s recount of how they lived when they were first married is to be credited, he’s no stranger to it.
Oh, puleeze. You’re bringing tears to my eyes. What he had that many of us don’t is a well-to-do father to bail him out if things got rough.

Right, they had to, oh horror, dip into their stock portfolio from time to time. Does anyone else have that luxury?

She often went to class with a baby at her breast.

I started googling, because there was a thread here about their early years where they lived in a basement studio apartment. I gave up because those stories have all given way to nasty slandering and put downs. It was making me ill.

Again you’re missing the obvious point. Nice try – try again.
Al, you need to dial back the “I’m vastly more intelligent than any of you twits” attitude. It’s getting old. Your “opponents” here want to follow the Church’s teaching and not vote for the most pro-abortion president in US history. With all due respect.

But you wouldn’t think peoples’ allegiance would come so cheaply. I can sort of imagine the well to do being grateful for their “cash for clunkers” subsidies, which ran into thousands of dollars, but is it really possible in this country to buy womens’ votes for $4-$8/month worth of contraceptives?
Another of those, “Ain’t that America something to see, …” moments or if you prefer, “Things that make you go Hmmmmm.”

27Sep2010: Obama -3 (48 to 51) on the economy. Among committed voters: -14

Midterm landslide

27Sep2012: Obama -3. C.V.: -14

Draw your own conclusions 🙂

Goodness, what sharp teeth you have today, Grandma!

St. Francis of Assisi had a rich father too, but gave it all up and lived very plainly though he didn’t have to. Do you think of him as poorly as you do of Romney for doing the same thing?

Fact is, his father did not bail him out. We don’t know whether he would have. What we do know is that Romney lived in a very spare situation and knows what it is.

I think we’ve finally reached the tipping point where the takers are equal in numbers to the makers. If you rely on the government for your living and don’t pay taxes, then you want the government to increase in size and strength so as to keep the checks rolling in. It’s just a numbers game now and it’s only going to get worse.
.
Which is why the country is doomed to a modern Grecian tragedy. It will not stem the tide or reform until all the money is gone then it is too late. It is a question of time. 🤷

Did I say it the first time? Maybe you are missing the point.

At the rate our government is going at, we may implode like Greece and Spain.

Then, our government will help a very small amount of the poor or none at all.

Obama’s big friends with big government and big labor. Just as rich as anyone.

And with this remark you are again missing the point. If you want to claim that that is another example of my alleged “I’m vastly more intelligent than any of you twits” attitude, then be my guest. I don’t have that attitude.

Your failure to see certain things has nothing to do with lack of intelligence, but with ideological blindness. Even people who are vastly more intelligent than the both of us suffer from that. And I have suffered from it in the past as well.

Gymnastics no less complex than those necessary to come out for Romney. Neither Obama or Romney is worth my vote (or anyone’s vote IMO), so it’s third party or no vote on my part this time 'round.
You may then have to live as a Catholic with the possibility that your lack of voting for Romney caused a pro abortion president to remain.

Of course you may believe your solo vote has no impact but if large masses of Catholics thought as you do the impact on the abortion issue would be sadly ineffectual.

This is well said.

Though the Government has no real Constitutional Duty to take care of the poor, it is our Christian duty and Christian nation or not, we feel impelled to do this.

But a lot of this government spending is wasteful.

And then, the truly destitute may end up being denied help.
