I just posted this on the world news site. (the President’s Nun) Guess you could have fit this into either “Catholic News” or “World News”. IT IS A MUST READ!

The headline is completely misleading. The CEO said it “absolutely” was one of the factors but not the precipitating factor in the decision. Then another statement was issued by the CEO that made zero mentioned of Obamacare. And a third statement stated that any direct linking of Obamacare to the decision to sell is a mischaracterization of what the CEO was trying to say.

Basically, Obamacare was one of many factors that were consdiered. However, no mention is made that without Obamacare the hospital would not have been sold. So it is equally valid to conclude that the hospital would have been sold anyways and that Obamacare was deemed to have done nothing to change that.

The headline apparently takes a quote out of context to make a political statement.

I’m not sure how to take the series of exchanges, especially the impact of Sr. Keehan on the explanation. Reading a bit between the lines in the opening and closing statements it sounds like negotiations were ongoing and Obamacare may have negatively influenced the outcome, not to say the outcome may have been any different without it. Sorry to be uncharitable but I get very leery when Sr. Keehan says anything.

I feel the same way. She allowed herself to be used by those Catholics who do not take the life issues seriously enough and needed some “catholic” backing.

However, after reading the above article, even the CEO of the hospitals backpedaled somewhat.
