Paul Samuelson. The mention of his name takes me back. I recall being in college debate, and I used him on both sides when it came to economic issues. It was fun, particularly when I could emphasize by slamming his weighty tome shut dramatically at the end of the “crucial” sentence. All other quotations were on cards, but I carried his book around for that reason alone.
