While that is true, our moral duties concern the situation that exists now, not the one we may wish for, or hope to come about years from now.
As it stands now, when you buy pot, you are contributing to a huge contraband market that people do, in fact, get hurt and killed over. The money is just that big. And it gets worse, not better, for other drugs. Saying “that wouldn’t happen if it was legal” doesn’t cancel your moral duty to NOT buy into this criminal marketplace.
This moral issue only vanishes if you grow the pot yourself. And then you have to ask if “getting mellow” is worth the significant risk to your freedom; IMNAAHO, that’s NOT what GOD made us free for.
God Bless and ICXC NIKA.
Ok lets look into the past, get into your wayback machine. Lets take alcohol for instance. Now it was legal for many, many, many, many years well ever since it was invented. Then here in the states, not so long ago, they made it illegal and what happened, HMMM there was alcohol trafficking other wise called bootleggers, now what do you think happened then, well there was harm to people, killings because of it, people put in jail or prison because it was illegal. Then they made it legal again and what happened, HMMM all that stopped, no bootleggers, no harm to people, no killings because of it, no people put in jail or prison, unless you are caught in a DWI. As it stood then you contributed to all the killings, bootlegging, harm to people and helped put people in jail or prison. Did the moral issue vanish then. Does it go away if you make your own alcohol? I can’t see how you can say yes when one criteria for altar wine is to have alcohol in it or its not considered sacred.
Marijuana has been around since recorded history. First use dates to circa 7,000 BC. It was used as a medical herb by ancient Chinese, Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans for stomach ailments, cramps and pain.
It was first used in the states for medical puropses in the 1800’s
Its recreational use did not become wide spread until alcohol was banned during prohibiton (1920-1933). Prior to that it was used in the states for hundreds of years for its medical qualities.
In 1936 the government financed the movie “Reefer Madness” spreading untruths like it caused, people spiraling out of control. Hit and run accidents, sucide, homicide and rape.
It was called a powerful marcotic in which lurks, Murder, insanity, and death. The government spells it “marHuana” not “marijuana.” It was made illegal in 1937.
Now all studies in the 1950 concluded that marijuna has medical qualities and is NOT a marcotic and is NOT physically addictive.
How is “getting mellow” a rist to our freedom?
Do you have a bank account do you buy into that criminal market? Do you have a morgage do you buy into that criminal market? Both are criminals. The only difference is they have the government backing, Other than that people get hurt by them, families suffer because of them and the occasional murder happens.
We can talk about moral values. Do you or have you ever bought a dimond? Do you know that children as young as infants get their hands cut off by dimond cartel so they can’t take their dimonds?
