Occult Items-what should I do with them?

We are fighting a battle for a person’s soul and for spiritual salvation! This is serious.
Choose. I find it troubling a Catholic would choose another person over the Love of God and put others to temptation by their conduct.

Wow… that’s all I can say.
Do I sense a hint of judgmental tone in your writings here?
It’s so wonderful and enlightening to know that Kevin is able, through a computer screen, to know exactly where my heart is and who I may or may not be choosing over the other.

Ok, in all seriousness Kevin, let me set you straight on where I stand so you can rest at ease. When I first announced to my husband that I was going to start going to Church I was told multiple things from him and the rest of my family. He first thought about leaving me and kind of freaked out. My daughter, who was living with me at the time with her husband and my grandchildren, advised me if I became Catholic I would no longer be allowed to see or talk with my grandkids. My other daughter told me I was crazy, and my one son attempted to debate me every chance he got. The only one that was ok with me becoming Catholic was my agnostic son!
I prayed for all of them everyday, and still do. Let me explain where we are at now in life almost 9 months later.
Now, my husband has went to Mass with me multiple times, he has asked me to teach him how to pray the Rosary, and has an interest in Saints and Marian apparitions. We’ve had our marriage Convalidated also. He’s not ready to become Catholic yet but the difference is like night and day. As a matter of fact, he turned down a bachelor party this Saturday night w/ going to strip clubs because he wants to attend my Confirmation on Sunday morning. If that’s not God at work, I don’t know what is!
My daughter-She’s actually gotten to know some of my Church family, and guess what, she LETS me take my grandkids to Mass with me now!! My oldest grandchild, just turned 5, is now learning to sing along, prays, kneels, loves going up with me when I receive Communion, and loves to say the Hail Mary. My granddaughter (4) loves going too, although she’s not quite into paying attention as much as my grandson is. My daughter and I pray together now, and both of us pray for our husbands. While she’s not Catholic she’s praying, and learning.
My other daughter, she’s went to Mass with me too, and asked for a Rosary. She’s got her issues still, but I continue to pray for her.
My son who’s into debating still debates me LOL, but his debates now have turned into wanting to know more about what Catholics believe because he had a lot of misconceptions.
And my agnostic son who approved of me becoming Catholic, he’s also been asking some questions about what I believe, and I’m just waiting on God to work in all of their lives even more.
Ok, so there you have it, I became a Catholic and chose God over my family and prayed for them.

I’m curious what part of what I said above makes you feel as though you need to say the things in bold (quoted bold) to me?
Is there something I said in my response above that makes you feel as though I don’t take things serious?
Is there something I said in my response above that makes you feel that I take God for granted?
Is there something I said in my response above that makes you feel that I believe that God owes me something?
Is there something I said in my response above that makes you feel that I’m being a hypocrite (the alcoholic response of yours to me)?

As far as Christ causing division in families… yes, I’m very much aware of that based on my earlier response to you… however, Christ can also reconcile families, especially with a spouse that prays daily for the other spouse.

I think most have seen my story and how I came to the Church.
I was baptized as a baby Catholic, but not raised Catholic, and God miraculously brought me out of witchcraft to the Church. I’m still in RCIA but I’m being ‘fast tracked’ to Confirmation and the Sacraments before Easter. My husband is still living the pagan type life.
I’ve had all sorts of bad stuff happen to me recently and I’m fairly certain that these things are a spiritual attack of some sort. Tonight while praying for another member it hit me… like a ton of bricks why I may still have this ickky stuff going on with me.
I still have all these occult items in my house… they are ‘put away’ (my stuff, not my husbands), but they are still here because I’m afraid my husband will freak if I get rid of them… we have A LOT of this stuff in the house… tarot cards, a handmade wand made by a ‘high priest’ that has a ‘spirit’ attached to it, crystals with ‘spirits’ attached to them, channeling boards, massive amounts of occult books (not put up) etc.
So I’m feeling really gross right now as it hit me all this stuff is still here even though most of it is out of sight except the books. I have this feeling of utter despair right now after praying and realizing this.
I know my husband will likely freak out, but I’m planning to burn all the books, channeling board, tarot cards and all burnable stuff on his next work day (Tuesday), maybe he won’t notice ~shrug~. My question is, what do I do with the stuff that’s not burnable, like the crystals and things?
FYI- if you’re pagan and ask me for this stuff, the answer will be no.

I don’t that it’s a good idea the Church profitting from the sale of occult items; intention may be well-meaning but the application I think is lacking - it implies the items have merit!

=Shawn Ravenfire;6650488]If these items are so important to your husband, you should DEFINITELY talk it over with him before getting rid of these things. Maybe just give them to him. Or if you’re successful in convincing him to part with them, you could always have a yard sale, put them on e-bay, or just sit them out on the lawn under a sign that says “free.” I hate to see quality merchandise destroyed, especially books. Remember, these just inannimate objects. They can’t hurt you, unless someone deliberately put a curse on them, which I think is highly unlikely, seeing as how they’re just books and tools.

Trust me, once they’re no longer your property, you’ll feel a whole lot better.

I do pray for him daily as well as the rest of my family, and he knows it. I see God working in him in small ways so I know I’m being heard

Hey I did not even notice you were in Louisville. It is a really great to meet someone so close on here. God will answer and more by living your life For Him amd showing your life in Christ with those prayers will you lead him out of that dark path home to God. Do not push but gently lead.

In my case (the veggie oil books that you dismissed as not disposed of well enough) I had only really been dabbling in witchcraft and never got to a point where I could feel any real power in anything. For that reason I didn’t feel like I needed to do anything more than simply throw the books/tools/etc. out and try to make sure they didn’t get used by anyone else down the road.

I am well aware that there are people who get much, much deeper into the occult than I did. And I believe with all my soul and mind that this is a way for Satan and his demons to enter into and get firm control over people in a literal way. In those very serious cases I think it is perfectly sensible to use caution. There is a reason exorcist priests are trained. The Church recognizes the very real threat. In some cases it is perfectly acceptable for a pious person to fear the demonic power in these items without being ‘superstitious’.

It is not so much any power that the object itself has. It is the emotional and spiritual connections to it that allow the Devil to work through them. It is also the message that is sent to others when they seee them. Sort of a guilt by association thing. Also if you are a person that has used them in the past haveing them around is not a good isea as that is placeing temtation in fromt of you.

1. Destroy the object so that it no longer resembles what it was. If burnable, then burn it, if glass, break it up into pieces, if some other material, take it apart or damage it as best you can.

Dig a hole in the ground and place the remains of the object in the hole, sprinkle the remains with Holy Water once more, place a St. Benedict medal on top of the remains (if burying the object is not possible, bless it with Holy Water and then throw it in the garbage, but first wrap it in newspaper or something so that a person looking through the garbage will not casually see what it is), and then pray the following prayer:

Keep in mind that this procedure is not magick. The primary power of the sacramentals (holy water and the medal) is in your faith. The sacraments do have a secondary effect in that they are items that have been blessed and made holy by God. Demons do not like being around such things.

Destroying the item so that it no longer resembles what it once was removes the attachment that it had for the demons, or the curse, or whatever.

Even with blessed items like a Rosary, once the Rosary falls apart or is taken apart and no longer resembles a rosary, the blessing that was attached to the Rosary is no longer there.

Bury it in the ground as the earth has this symbolizes a cleansing from the good earth.

**I don’t want the answer I received lost in the thread, so for those who missed it due to all the responses. I’ll paste in what I was told months ago: **

Ok, I just got off the phone with the exorcist.
He is one of only 12 officially trained and recognized exorcist priests in the US, so I’m going with his recommendation. I also let him know that there is this thread here, which he was already aware of this forum.
He said what I should do with the items I have is either a) throw them in a lake or b) bury them. He said that the books can be burnt with the rest of my garbage (I live in the middle of nowhere just outside of city limits so I burn my garbage).
I have a lake near my house (actually two), so the heavy items I’m going to toss in the lake (or I’d have to dig a large hole lol), and the rest I’ll bury. He also said that I want to make sure that where ever I bury them or whatever lake I use, that it should be somewhere that nobody will find the items.
There you go… .a clear answer.
Hopefully, this thread will help others coming out of witchcraft into the Church

well one good thing to come out of people ignoring the dates and not reading the comments is that we all got that wonderful update.

i was wondering how you’ve been doing, and reading about the changes your family is going through is so beautiful! i will definitely keep you in my prayers. the misconceptions and flat out hatred towards Catholics i have seen in the south is incredible, but it’s also so cool when you engage people that really are after the truth. i’ve seen eyes get super round and large (like puss in boots) when they finally examined all the data and were convinced what they had been taught all along was in error. i’ve no doubt incredible changes will occur through praying the rosary.

I don’t know honestly. It could be that because I had these items and some were made specifically for me and charged for me that they won’t bother anyone else?
All I know is that I’m in the process of following his advice. It took me over 2 hours to burn just a few of the vast library I have here, and the ground/lakes are all frozen here… so getting rid of this stuff looks like it will be a process over time (when things thaw).

Did you destroy anything of your husbands?

Also, you didn’t hold any séances did you? Because if you don’t say the final banishment incantation any spirits you invoke don’t leave and get stuck there, get mad and can malignant and even poltergeists

I’m not trying to scare you, just saying that if you didn’t the spirits will linger behind and any purification you do may not work fully, it’d be like trying to wash clothes on too cold a wash, some dirt’ll still be left behind, if you get what I mean
