Occult Items-what should I do with them?

This is in regards to throwing possibly possessed items into a body of (unfrozen :)) water or burying them. I have heard of running water also recommended for disposal.

This question is looking towards the future, sort of like what happens to depleted uranium? Indian burial grounds, former residences where evil never left, etc.

Will someone in the future who inhabits an area where these objects were thrown be harassed by a possibly recalcitrant demon(s) who inhabited the thrown out object and refused to leave?

Should the ground or area these objects are thrown in be exorcised or blessed to reduce the chances of any future problems with those ‘unwelcome’ demons?

Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question, (I practice a lot).

dona
I don’t know honestly. It could be that because I had these items and some were made specifically for me and charged for me that they won’t bother anyone else?
All I know is that I’m in the process of following his advice. It took me over 2 hours to burn just a few of the vast library I have here, and the ground/lakes are all frozen here… so getting rid of this stuff looks like it will be a process over time (when things thaw).

actually, my understanding is that the idea of burying things where they wont be found for a while, or putting them in a lake/water is that things do decay and break down… and they do so in God’s own time, naturally.

by the time someone finds them the bonding of any spiritual energy to them (if it was there at all) will have broken… and its possible the item will have been damaged beyond use.

funnily enough, most seriously problematic items… well. they are made “ritually” and therefore rarely use things that dont break down or decay, like plastic. bury even a stainless steel item and it will rust and tarnish soon enough…

so lets say you have… umm…
a wand… made of wood, with a crystal in it. and a wire wrapping.
you can break it before burying it, of course! but lets say you just bury it in a unlikely to be disturbed place.
any metal will rust or tarnish… the glue will likely decay or break… the wood will likely rot, and be chewed on… if the crystal had cracks or flaws then thawing and freezing will slowly crack it. if anyone finds it ten years from now? its a crystal or two and some organic material…

i know i buried things you wouldnt think would rot in my yard… and drnd if i can find them now! and i have a TINY yard. (plastic though. or nylon? still there)

the only exception to the “most dangerous stuff is most degradable” that i know of is … ouija boards… the commercial ones, not the home made kind. those things dont burn worth a darn, they float, and are nearly indestructible. the only way i know to get rid of them is to break them, possibly with a sledge hammer!

I realize this thread is long and tedious…but RAchel, would you mind explaining your NDE—or we could start another thread:)
Reason being, I got hold of the video Conversations w/ God (not the movie)—a documentary of many people who’ve had NDE’s—they ALL said the same thing! I then went to some NDE web sites and again, the vast majority say the same thing…and it resonated with me about Jesus (some said the Light) did not ask them about their church affiliation, attendance, etc…it was all about Did you Love Your Fellow Human Beings? Is your being growing in Love?

Let me know if you start a thread. THanks for educating us!👍

This is the problem, it is not the medal or the water or the scapular, it is the blessing of Christ through His priest that holds the, for lack of a better word, “power.” It’s our faith in Him that gives this sacramental its place, not the medal.

I had a pod cast from Catholic Answers Live Radio about six months ago that explained it the best way I had ever heard it put. The talk was on the “brown scapulas”. A person is consecrated to the scapular and if you are truly consecrated to its true meaning when you die you will see heaven. But it not the scapular, it is faith in what the sacramental represents, forget the item and see the meaning, it’s Jesus Christ!!!

With true faith in Him we will all see heaven because we will lead a righteous life. If we do not, we won’t; doesn’t matter what sacramental you have in your pocket or around your neck.

I believe in sacramentals, but not for the item.

If I can find the pod cast I will link it.
So what is your problem. She is asking for help This is what happened to me. Its an anointing not power - Of course God is powerful. Its his presence on the sacremantal with your belief. Its a visual aid or call it whatever. Would you have the same discussion over the Ark of the Covenant. This is blessed and endorsed by popes thru out history. Either your Catholic or your not. Nobody asked you to explain how it works. How can you explain everthing of God. Rachel your going to and fro because you need deliverance. Go to the special priest on monday but in the mean time go to a local Catholic store or call a local parish to see if they have a Bessed St BENEDICT MEDAL if not keep praying but to go on when this poor woman needs help. Did you know I had oppressive spirits trying to block me from telling you this, my login for this website went down on the original message. I never had that happen on this website before . If the presence of God is on the Medal and you wear the medal Is not the Holy Spirit going to help you live a better life. You might as well throw out the BIBLE.The Bible is filled with sacramentals. What your worried about is she replacing objects to more objects. No because the occult objects are evil and cursed. THe blessed objects are anointed from God . The devil can’t stand the presence of God. She is a baby Christian in Knowledge and your going on with nonsense when her first priority is real help not theological arguement. I am sorry if it sounds too strong, but you got to get to the point. You need help. I don’t think too many have gone thru real strong occultic presences who are talking to her. But thats my advice its all Pro -Catholic Christian -STILL PRAYING FOR YOU AND everyone please also keep praying for Rachel which I know some of you are. I love you all in Christ but I just feel she needs to know whats availabe to her- always in love:thumbsup:

I’m currently wearing a Miraculous Medal, which has been blessed and I’m in the process of doing as the priest told me to do (although the ground/lake are both frozen).

That will do it, my mother always wore Miracalous Medal, She passed on to heaven so I gave it to my cousin because she named her granddaughter after my mom. Now I have the St Ben Medal. Now I have to get the M medal in memory of my mom. I sorry if came across wrong I just care thats all. IN HIS NAME John. I will now say Divine Mercy for you Bye:thumbsup:

I get that you want to make a clean break from your past and get rid of items which you feel will be a hinderance to development on your own path. However, this has taken a turn that is ultimately going to take you into a place of much more darkness and craziness if you stay on it. Your concern about these objects is tilting toward obsession, and that has been encouraged by all too many posters here.

As a former Wiccan, it should be second nature to you to understand that thought forms have power. You, and especially many posters, are imbuing these objects with FAR more power than their makers or the high prietess ever imbued them with. You are according them a power that is on par, or even in excess, of your own Christ. You are ignoring the real grace that is supposed to come from your baptism/confirmation. You are still engaging the world as a pagan, and one who believes herself to be under a curse. You are seeking nothing less than the help of another spellcaster, in the guise of an exorcist.

I am no longer speaking to you as my presnt pagan self seeking to raz you. I speak here as a former Catholic and one who knew his business at one time. Yes, the Church does in fact believe in demonic troubles and exorcisms, but it’s not the bread and butter of the faith. It’s considered to be rare. Very, very rare. 99.9% of people will never encounter it, and at least the same percentage on this forum have no idea what they’re talking about. If the priests you contacted seemed dismissive, it’s because there is no credible reason to believe you are afflicted with demons. Yet, this crowd of do-it-yourself demonologists is trying to sell you on the idea that they, and not your church, know the real score.

The overwhelming majority of pagans are not troubled by demons. Personality disorders? Yes. Failure to take their meds? Sometimes, but not demons, unless they are so foolish as to seek out and engage with dark entities for favors, or engaged in truly predatory behaivor. You have said nothing to indicate you have done any such thing. It’s quite a conceited thing to presume that you would be the front line in a battle between angels and demons. That tiny slice of humanity which falls victim to these things are VERY evil, or in a very unusual state of grace so as to threaten evil, or just damn unlucky.

IF you don’t get past this, you are going to fall in with a very spooky, fringy crowd, and it’s going to lead you far away from what the church is really supposed to be about. If you mean to be Catholic for real, all of you, you need to be doing the unglamorous work of serving the poor and the suffering, not jostling for the glory of who fancies themselves the best demon-fighter or which lake or volcano to throw Rachel’s poor items into.

*You’re very wise.

I must have missed the posts where she thought the items (or herself) were demon possessed. I thought she just wanted to rid herself of the energy the items project, not because they’re evil.

To rid the energy, a person should put them to rest period. That’s with anything though not just a bunch of New Age books. If a romance ends in a bad way, you burn pictures or letters. Not because they’re evil or possessed. Just because you want to rid the negative energy behind them. I though her point was to make sure nobody gets a hold of them, and it was also her way of shedding her old life and starting anew.

Truly, though, books are books, and I was told by a two different priests that we could study anything we want. Priests study non-Christian religions so they are well informed. I, myself, am very interested in other religions, including paganism, because I have an interest in European history. And historically, Europe was pagan. So there’s absolutely nothing wrong with books. There’s nothing wrong with crystals, and there’s nothing wrong with Tarot cards. I do have issue with Oujia Boards but not if they are dormant.

In all my years of studying non-Christian religions, NEVER ONCE have I EVER considered leaving the Church. I know exactly what’s out there and what the world has to offer in terms of non-Christian religion, and I willingly choose Christ. We should be much more secure in our DECISION to be Catholic Christians. If the slightest little thing influences you or sways you to the point where you have to frightfully avoid it, you’re NOT secure in that choice.

There’s a saying I heard once before that goes something like this:
Those who follow Christ out of fear would bow to ol’ satan if he should appear.

Perspective is a very good thing! 😉

Rachel…do not listen to the last two posters. Do what you are doing and listen to the Priest you spoke with and God bless you!

*Did I (or the poster prior to me) say that she shouldn’t do what the priest said?

You know. its funny. rachel has NOT been obsessing… she just asked what to do with stuff she has already had boxed up because she wants it out of the house… and she wants to dispose of it “properly”

no different than disposing of any HazMat.

you dont just dump your batteries in the trash, you dont just put paint or smoke detectors in the trash… you have to dispose of them so they cant hurt anyone else.

thats not obsessing

she consulted a priest, he didnt know what she was talking about… she asked here… she got some advice…
then she talked to someone (a different priest) who is trained in exorcism and etc a Catholic “haz mat specialist”

then she repeatedly posted what HE said to do here, so the various people who have been commenting would know.

she never said she was possessed, or cursed, or anything. she never said these items are so powerful oh noes!
she said they shoudl be properly disposed of so no one gets hurt.
she asked how to do it
she found out
period

now a lot of people are continually telling her (and us) that she is obsessing…
sorry, i dont see that at all… she has a box of stuff and a good Priestas advice, and is dealing with it as she has time and the weather permits.
i think, frankly. that thats “all she wrote”

God Bless!

Thanks for your perspective and it is true. When anyone wants to get rid of bad energy from any negative situation or person…follow the directions of Christ Jesus…and you don’t need a lighter or matches…pray for your enemy or who or what you are upset with.
Mixing paganism with Catholicism will be frustrating and fruitless.
But as far as thus stuff Rachel has…go to the Priest and do as he says…and she did! God bless her.

(Virgil Michel, O.S.B., PhD.):
Code:
"Christ casts out devils. The powers of Christ were transmitted to the Apostles and their successors; and the Church's ordinary rite of ordination to the Priesthood includes the order of exorcist, in which Christ's power to cast out devils is transmitted. The Church has a special rite for such exorcisms, and throughout the ages she has witnessed the effective use of it. Her long experience also explains her extreme caution, her extensive investigation of a case, before permitting any exorcism...
To a great extent the essential matters of Christian faith are beyond the field of natural knowledge. However, any viewpoint that is flatly contradicted by true natural knowledge cannot be a matter of Christian faith. In regards sin and the Kingdom of Satan, Christian faith teaches Christ's conquest of Satan and Satan's dominion by His death and resurrection...
Satan is regaining something of his hold on men in our day. For we have in several centuries witnessed the increased abandonment by men of the Catholic Church, and among non-Catholic denominations the increased abandonment of the sacraments. What is this but a great surrender to the powers of evil?"
(Fr. Carl Vogl):
Code:
"That Satan has succeeded in making man so indifferent regarding his actions of misleading men is one of his greatest and most advantageous accomplishments. People rarely listen to anything of a supernatural nature...
The priest has frequent opportunities for using his power of exorcism. The blessings of holy water, its various uses in the blessing of houses and in the many other blessings and benedictions of the Church in her sacramentals, are dependent upon this power."
For Cure of Ars, Patron Saint of priests, the sight of hell was constantly and really an ordinary experience, for 35 years.

first you mock her, and now you are completely misrepresenting her words.

you made a conscious choice to leave the Church and now for some reason you are here telling her what the Church teaches in these matters. yes, possession is incredibly rare, but oppression is not and that is something the Church teaches. and before anyone misrepresents what i just said, please note, that in no way am i saying rachel is demonically oppressed. it’s pretty obvious Christ is alive in her!
You are seeking nothing less than the help of another spellcaster, in the guise of an exorcist.
only someone in the dark can’t see the difference. there is Holy work done by the Church and then there are those that seek to invert Her practices or try to copy them in a false and invalid way.

from Pope Benedict:

“The more one understands the holiness of God, the more one understands the opposite of what is holy, namely, the deceptive masks of the devil. Jesus Christ himself is the greatest example of this: before him, the Holy One, Satan could not keep hidden and was constantly compelled to show himself. **So one might say that the disappearance of the awareness of the demonic indicates a related decline in holiness. **The devil can take refuge in his favorite element, anonymity, if he is not exposed by the radiance of the person united to Christ.”

and regarding sacramentals, i really doubt any Catholic believes that an object has powers. however, (and maybe Becky can help me out here) there have been accounts of where people brought items to be blessed by Padre Pio and he could tell if they were already blessed or not. so if he could discern this “mark” that is attached to sacramentals, that means that the blessing does change this object into something different. it is also clear God wants us to “use” these items, but i don’t know any Catholics that aren’t aware that the source of all this is from God and God alone.

peace.

Wow, you know me so well from what I’ve typed out here on this forum lol… dude, I’m very far from obsessing, as I sit here typing this to you, most of the objects are still sitting in my dresser put up. If I were obsessing, they would all be outside or something right now. The priest advised me to either throw them in a lake or bury them, both of which are difficult right now because of the weather… the lake is frozen, and so is the ground, until the time that it warms up some, most of them will continue to be where they are right now, does that sound like obsession to you?

You don’t know me, you are judging me where it’s not really your place to do so. Most of the time when reading your posts here, it seems your intent based on what you write is to bait me or something, I hope I’m wrong though about that.
I’m not the type that likes to fight, argue, or debate, it doesn’t serve any good purpose as far as I see. So with that, I’ll just let you know that you’re off base with how you see me and my walk with Christ.

Am I possessed? NO… I think I’ve clearly stated that a few times. Being that the thread is long, you may have missed it. I’m aware that the percentage of folks that contact exorcists aren’t demon possessed, that’s why they go through counselors and stuff too, to look for other explanations.
According to the Church, telltale signs of demonic possession include:
  • Speaking or understanding languages which the person has never learned (different from “speaking in tongues,” which is considered a sign of religious ecstasy, not possession)
  • Knowing (and revealing) things the person has no earthly way of knowing
  • Physical strength beyond the person’s natural physical makeup
  • A violent aversion to God, the Virgin Mary, the cross and other images of Catholic faith
First, I have a hard time with spanish, let alone any other languages I’ve not learned.
I don’t even pretend to know stuff I have no way of knowing.
I may be able to pull off number 3 only because I work out a lot and I’m still in the process of losing weight, therefore under my fat I have a lot of muscle. I don’t look like I’m strong, but I am lol. The good news about this is, when all the fat does come off, I’ll be nice and toned 🙂
Number 4 is soooooooo not me. I love God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit with all my heart and I ask Our Mother to pray for me all the time, I wear a Miraculous Medal, and I have a Crucifix hanging in my room.
So this means I’m totally NOT possessed 🙂
On the other hand, I do believe that evil is in the world seeking the ruin of souls, not just mine.
Being that you were Catholic and “knew your business”, I’m curious if you ‘knew your business’ so well, why you would even leave the Church.
It’s quite a conceited thing to presume that you would be the front line in a battle between angels and demons. That tiny slice of humanity which falls victim to these things are VERY evil, or in a very unusual state of grace so as to threaten evil, or just damn unlucky.
If I may be so bold to say that I believe it’s quite a conceited thing for you to presume all you have about me 🙂
IF you don’t get past this, you are going to fall in with a very spooky, fringy crowd, and it’s going to lead you far away from what the church is really supposed to be about. and presuming all you have about all the other posters here…

All this being said, I’ll pray for you, and I hope others here will as well. 🙂

All I could speak from is my own experience, I had to burn them, I was experiencing poltergeist activity in my house. It was becoming dangerous for me and my children. After I burned all my occult items, and had my house blessed it STOPPED. If you choose to hang onto this stuff, and you see it every day, it does affect how you look at them. It affects your mind whether you believe it or not. Subconsciously, at best, the teachings alone are still there. I’d throw the stuff in the garbage at least.
! You will find out I’m right in the long run, if you don’t. One who’s been there. By the way, mollyvrog means little devil, in croation, I will always have 2 horns holding up my halo, because I’m only human, and even if I don’t want to, I still end up doing the things I don’t want to do. The apostle Paul said that. The stuff I end up doing may not be occult related anymore, but I still have problems staying on the straight and narrow as it is. Why would I want occult items around, to remind me of my past life, I have enough problems doing God’s will as it is!!!

This is very funny…two horns holding up the halos. You’re not the only one, even those of us with no occult background have plenty of YUCk to claim! To be honest, and I could be wrong, but i think God is more concerned w/ Religion and its clutch on people than the occult…IE pride in thinking some are better than others…as in Jesus and the Pharisees. It’s the HEART that God seems to care about and not the other junk. Your heart is to follow Him and He will keep you!
I just get disgusted with the religious people who think God is somehow impressed with the keeping of the law, even within Catholicism. I’m a new convert and I love the Catholic Church…but it’s tough to see people who still think that if they Do all the “right things” that God will let them into Heaven, instead of loving Him from the heart and simply desired His ways…I don’t get it…maybe there’s not many of those people left…but it still grieves me.😦

Gretahope. Don’t let it grieve you. Read how the first disciples went on, not much has changed.
