No, just opinions that were written and reports of what groups show up at these events.

The Tea Party rallies, in the begining, varied across the nation. It wasn’t until the negative reports came out that the organizers took better control.

The OWS doesn’t have close to that sort of organization, so the anarchists and thugs have had free reign.

In Boston, the leaders of the OWS have been working with police to arrest the thugs and those who are committing crimes.

Can’t say the same for Oakland.

Jim
The most “radical” ones I met were generally the night watchmen minarchist stripe of “anarchists”. Legalization of drugs, prostitution, no restriction on abortion, etc. Not the black bandana, rock-throwing kind. But even these were for LESS centralized government and control, not MORE, as “facism” would suggest.

I don’t believe there is any organization to OWS by the looks of it. I still don’t know what they want…

Agreed.

I guess I forgot to allow for the fact that most people that use the word facist have no idea what they are talking about. Imagine that, followers of fascism taking part in a protest for a smaller, weaker less centralized government. Kind of like expecting a Christians Against Christ group to form.

Not to divert the thread, but do you have any proof of this (that doesn’t consist of an op-ed)?

I went to several local and national rallies, and didn’t see even a hint of such.
Well, didn’t you see how the evil Tea Party effectively controlled the mid-term elections with its Fascist element?

For all those comparing OWS to the Tea Party protests I can’t understand how you cannot see the difference. Are the words lawful assembly too difficult for you to comprehend? 🤷

OAKLAND, Calif. - A day of demonstrations in Oakland that began as a significant step toward expanding the political and economic influence of the Occupy Wall Street movement, ended with police in riot gear arresting dozens of protesters who had marched through downtown to break into a vacant building, shattering windows, spraying graffiti and setting fires along the way.

“We go from having a peaceful movement to now just chaos,” said protester Monique Agnew, 40

This was never intended to be a “peaceful” demonstration. The organizers wanted to gather the people and have them mill around until they got so frustrated that they started to do what bored, frustrated people do when they believe that everything and everyone is out to get them.

Van Jones calls it the Top Down, Bottom Up, Inside Out approach. You have to get the bottom to rise up and begin to riot (Bottom Up). The “sensible” people in the middle, afraid for their safety, will beg government to restore order, even if that means sacrificing “a little liberty in exchange for security” (Top Down). Then, in order for this to never happen again, we have to change the system from the inside out.

Glenn Beck went on about this over a year ago. He predicted it. He showed pamphlets and booklets written in Europe that discussed the tactics and strategies for starting a global insurrection. If you look at Greece, Italy, Spain, the MIddle East, and now here, it is going almost exactly the way it was predicted.

Ya, I am the Tea Party 😃 and I bet you couldn’t pay someone to honestly be able to brand me a fascist.

Well. This *is *Oakland. Is Oakland ever not in chaos? :ehh: As soon as OWS hit Oakland it was a disaster in the making.

National Journal, Voters Viewing Occupy Wall St. Unfavorably: According to a Quinnipiac University poll released this morning, American voters have an unfavorable opinion of the Occupy Wall Street movement by a 39 – 30 percent margin.

The Columbian, Occupy Portland man pushes police sergeant into moving TriMet bus: An Occupy Portland protester pushed a cop in front of a moving bus Wednesday night, before running back into the crowd. The officer suffered only minor injuries and the occupier was caught and arrested.

The Wall Street Journal, Europe’s Greece Ultimatum: European Union leaders are demanding to know if Greece wants to stay in the euro currency union. “Does Greece want to remain part of the euro zone or not,” German Chancellor Angela Merkel said. “That is the question the Greek people must now answer.”

The Washington Post, House Republicans make cross-party pitch to embolden debt supercommittee: A group of 40 House Republicans, more than a dozen of whom have signed the Americans for Tax Reform pledge, signed a letter telling the Super Congress that “revenues must be on the table” in negotiations. The letter does not call for any tax increase, but does open the door for the possibility.

The New York Times, Fed Lowers Its Forecast for Growth, but Takes No Steps: The Federal Reserve released a report lowering its expectations for U.S. economic growth next year. Before, the Fed had predicted the economy would grow 2.9 percent. Now they predict it will only grow 2.5 percent. The Fed also predicts unemployment will be 8.5 percent by the end of 2012.

The Hill, Obama administration mulled Solyndra bailout days before company’s demise: The Obama administration considered a taxpayer funded bailout of the solar panel manufacturer Solyndra before it went bankrupt. In exchange for converting debt to stock, the Energy Department would have placed two members on the company’s board.

There were black hooded anarchists out in Oakland last night committing acts of violence. It’s high time the peaceful protesters ganged up on these thugs and started making citizens arrests. If some of them happen to be as I suspect, police agent provacateurs, they along with anyone who authorized there actions, need to be sent to prison.

I think that anarchy is precisely what the various OWS mobs want. Peaceful protest is not their wish, nor even reasoned demands, or electoral influence. Anarchy leads to violence, which leads to police crackdown, and it is precisely such conflict which they desire, since it can be used to further stir up the crowds. Unthinking mob action, it seems to me, is the desired end. It reminds me of the days prior to the French revolution when the volatile unthinking mobs of Paris essentially controlled the government. And the ordinary people were worse off after the mobs worked their destruction than before.

For those who do not know, shutting down the port of oakland is a federal crime

Go and get your riot gear
Something stirring in the air, a victory?
A time-bomb ticking to explode-3, 2, 1 and go
Something passive, something not
Billy clubs out, call the S.W.A.T.
Rabid dogs without a leash
Is this how you keep the peace?
You want riots? Wear your riot gear
You want violence?
Then shoot some tear gas in the air
It is written on your badge
‘To serve and protect’
It seemed you only served yourself
Protecting your own neck.

Controlling with fear, menacing and threatening
You want my respect?
You better start respecting me
(Chorus)

Go and get your riot gear
Swing your girlie all around
We’ll be dancing on the cinders
As the town is burning down
Swing her around, burn it all down
Something smelled of power tripping
Crowd control was rank
Tear gas everyone downtown
What you did really stank

Legislation never made you judge and jury
Marshal law now
Beat the kids down with no worries
Ironically written about the riots in oakland after a football game…atleast from what I was told.

I wonder if they are being charged as such? I’ll bet not.

What I would love to know is why, WHY has the National Guard not been called in yet. The police obviously can’t handle this group. Since they can’t then it’s time to go up to the next level of defense. For the record I’m not talking about just Oakland. Police in other cities are also having an extremely hard time with this group of anarchist.

For those that don’t know, that is exactly what they want. They want to be so difficult to control that the call in the national guard, and maybe implement martial law to restore control.

As far as I’m concerned if that’s what it takes then go for it. This group has done nothing but hurt, maim, and destroy. I don’t know anyone irl who supports them. How much longer do they need to allow this to continue? How many more people need to be hurt? How much more property needs to be destroyed? How many more need to suffer a loss of their livelihood before this is stopped? This group does not care about the American who has to work for a living. They only care about their own selfish wants and desires.

They want it so that they can get the current government to say “in order to preserve the stability and peace, we are suspending 2012 elections until further notice…:”

Gaurd troops are probably deployed to Afghanistan and so the cops are on their own.

Right, and the military cannot help. Violation of Posse Comitatus…unless the President is willing to commit US troops to restore order with Congressional approval. But, given his liberal hand in applying US military intervention, its probably not out of the question. Maybe he’ll send some predator drones.
