Denver police forced stubborn protestors out of Civic Center park early this evening, tearing down illegally pitched tents.

About half of the protesters had started to leave Lincoln Park and Civic Center after a parlay with police. But half had voted to stay and some of them blocked Broadway about 5:15 p.m.

Riot police moved quickly to clear Broadway. At 5:30 p.m., Broadway was closed by police between Colfax and 14th avenues. Lincoln had been closed earlier as police gathered.

A city garbage truck pulled up as some protesters continued to chant anti-police slogans: “You look stupid in your helmets and with your clubs … This a peaceful assembly — no weapons allowed.”

Around 4:30 p.m. officers invited two protesters to come speak with them at a command post near Lincoln and East 14th Avenue.

I just have a bad feeling that these “Occupy” groups are being funded by special interest groups and the media to pull the wool over our eyes. Not trying to be a conspiracy theorist but, I feel like our president is behind all of this nonsense. 🤷

With a former job title like “Community Organizer?”
Now whatever gave you that idea?
Curiouser and curiouser …

Things that make you go “hmmm.”

Here let me show you what I mean with your own words, again…

“I will support Peace rally but not Anti War, Pro life but not Anti Abortion, Gay rights but not same sex marriage”

So…what exactly are you saying?

Your response…😃 ? Isn’t an answer. We can move the dialogue foward with clear articulate response’s

Do you actually have an answer? How does this reconcile with your Catholic religion? Seems to be the basic issue with OWS. 🤷

Just go to You Tube…Find me prayer the message… aside from Islamic:shrug:

Well here let me give you an idea of what I am seeing. Since you seem to think otherwise.

Hate, Violence. lack of Religious tolerence. 🤷

You know what. I wish there was a Constitutional based Christian message. I’m in NYC bi-weekly, I wuld get involved. But this? Not my idea of a America based on our forefathers constitution.

Sorry, I wish I could say otherwise.

MY PRAYERS are with you…Forgive them Lord, for they know not what they do!

Madea Williams, who said she was the shooting victim’s cousin, said he had shared a tent with her at the camp.

Police have not released the man’s name, but said he appeared to be in his 20s. Williams said his first name was Alex.
While the OWS crowd may not be directly involved in a crime, it is still possible that the disorder caused by their demonstations could lead to crime. There are reasons why demonstrations are permitted. If public safety is threatened, then the free speech must be exercised in some other venue.

I really hate to give people the wrong impression. I grew up in the 50s and 60’s. I know that good can be accomplished through Peaceful demonstration. Its part of our history which I witnessed.

The Catholic News in the early 60’s with the Fathers and Sister, Thomas Merton, Dr King. All good Christians. Civil and Human Rights, Peace, Stop the War. And yes without a doubt it escalated to violence at moments. Yet there was a clear constant, articulate message.

When violence prevailed it was immediately corrected and re-focused. I can think of half-dozen incidents just off the top of my head which turned into violence and ignorance. The troops returning, Chicago, New-Haven, Kent State along with other Universitys,

However as bad as some events became, the message was constantly re-focused to the real issues. Yes, many jumped on board to promote a message of hate and violence.

This is what must happen here. More important a clear definition of the actual issues. There have been all kinds of attorneys, public speaks whom are civil rights activists. Most of their offers to help have been denied. And they all offered to work Pro-Bono.

I have seen the mayor or Portland in a interview with a speaker from OWS. Both spoke articulate, However the context of the message was to protect to abilty to organize in a Peaceful protest, though the constitution. And rightfully so, yet no issues of substance were addressed.

To me I find all this fustrating when there is a conscious rational effort being made with the 2012 elections, to place America back on the track of the Constitution defined by our forefathers. Not what its manipulated into though the incorrect understanding of seperation of church and state.

Who would have ever thought Catholics/Christians would be fighting for Religious Freedom. Yet here we are, and with the CC being not only the largest non-profit Social Service provider in the state’s, but world-wide.

To me OWS has a “potential” of being a help in this difficult period. But not with the majority of them concerned for their own individual agenda’s.

Because one owes on a college loan, thats their agenda. Because one is in the mist of foreclosure, thats their agenda. Or union, pay scales. etc.

I’m astounded we could even be still talking “Wall Street” as the issue. We all know how we arrived in this situation. Geez, you just do a search here, we discussed this in depth. Bob and a few others posted some very good threads/posts clearly identifing this issue.

To me, there’s an inability to effectively communicate with OWS.

Peace

If he likes them so much, maybe he can turn over his mansions in Chicago to them, so they’ll have some place to stay.

Report: Woman raped at Occupy Philadelphia camp

Showdown at Occupy Portland, western camps

Occupy Portland encampments were nearly empty on Sunday as protesters packed up and left after warnings by city officials that they would be evicted over the weekend.
Fewer than a dozen tents remained at two downtown parks where protesters have camped since early October as part of the nationwide Occupy Wall street movement against alleged economic injustice.
City officials said they planned to put up fences around the two Portland parks to close them to protesters on Sunday afternoon…
The mood at the parks on Sunday was “peaceful and respectful” after some raucous marching overnight, said City Council member Nick Fish.
“It’s almost like the fever broke last night,” he said.

MY PRAYERS are with you…Forgive them Lord, for they know not what they do!
Only God has a right to say that not you. You exhault yourself as if you know better than them.

The proper way to say it is, Lord have mercy on us!

Preach Love and Compassion not Hate about other people, my brother!

Only God has a right to say that not you.
Where in the world do you get that idea? Are you aware that St. Stephen also prayed this prayer? The problem I see is that if you are going to post your prayers here, others have the same privilege.

It is okay to say it but make sure it has to be quoted from the bible. Those are the very words of Jesus. It was hypocrisy in my own opinion when it was not quoted and directed to the OWS protesters.

Eternal Father, we offer you the body and blood soul and divinity our your dearly beloved son our Lord and savior Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world." For the sake of his sorrowful passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

Then you turn right around and quote…

St. Faustinas, Divine Mercy Chaplet
Those are the very words of Jesus…
And
It was hypocrisy in my own opinion when it was not quoted and directed to the OWS protesters.
I have no idea what your talking about…🤷 HOWEVER,

I’d rather re-direct this conversation to the OP and OWS. How about that? And “THE” comment of yours which you seem to want to avoid!!! This one…

Still waiting for an articulate response from you on this “quote” of “yours”?

HERE"S THE QUOTE YOU “FAIL” TO RESPOND TO…

“I will support Peace rally but not Anti War, Pro life but not Anti Abortion, Gay rights but not same sex marriage”

I’d like to hear your elabortion on all three statements? 🤷

Grace and Peace

“Owner of Panini & Co. Breads, located across from Zuccotti Park: “…demonstrators broke a bathroom sink, flooding the shop, and clogged the toilet — setting her back $3,000 in damages.” On Friday, a crazed squatter burst into the shop and demanded that workers fill a 10-gallon container of water. “He said he was entitled to have it for free.” This isn’t a protest movement, it’s psychotic street theatre. Obama and the Democrats own it.”

Once there was a summer of love. People were protesting not to take rights away, not to hate, but to grant rights, and to love. Welcome almost half a century later to the winter of hate.

Sunday night from NECN news, Boston and NYC, OWS, the crime rate is becoming out of control. Also the News stated both camps literally “stink”, as hygene has become a major issue.

Occupy Boston BOSTON (CBS) – Three people arrested Thursday night inside the Occupy Boston camp have been charged with dealing crack cocaine.

WBZ NewsRadio 1030’s Carl Stevens, who spent the night at the camp a few weeks ago, talked to a man who spends most nights at Occupy Boston. He said things have gone downhill.

“Things have changed drastically. It seems to be deteriorating,” the man told Carl. “A lot of drug use, alcohol use, people getting into fights… It’s deteriorating pretty quick.”

Mayor Menino’s sentiment reflects that concern…

“They have a message that’s not a clear message. The problem we have today is that we have different groups infiltrating the people who have the message [whatever that unclear message is]. We have anarchists who are part of the group. We have homeless individuals who are part of the group,” Menino told WBZ NewsRadio 1030.

And…

Mayor Menino continued, the problems which OWS “are” relating to have nothing to do with individual states in the US, and they really need to take their concerns to Washington DC. "The problems are down in Washington. And nobody’s even addressing those issues of what Washington has done to our economy, to job training, to housing, to education. They’re directing their anger at the wrong location’s.”

And well stated basically daily by members of CAF also.

Peace

Such fine outstanding citizens…

I was watching the news last night and they were covering the police uprooting some of the “occupy” people across the country. One of them said to the reporter, “They have no place to go.”. Really? My question is, where the heck did they come from? The woodwork? I’m sure some are homeless, but this was too well organized in the beginning.
