I was diagnosed with OCD/anxiety about 16 months ago. It had got to the stage where I was depressed and didn’t want to get out of bed so I knew I had to do something. I was paranoid about what people thought of me & I would get embarrassed easily and blush when I was talking to people or in a group,so the doctor put me on antidepressants for around 6 months. I have been doing great for this past 8 or 9 months and have been working and it has built up me confidence, I felt like I didn’t care what other people thought of me and I no longer got embarrassed.
I started a new job about 3 months ago and I was doing great and I get on well with everyone, but just last week when my two bosses come and talk to me separately or ask me to do something I blush and I can feel my heart beating fast and I start to sweat! What is wrong with me? I don’t understand where this is coming from as up until now I have been fine when they talked to me. I am terrified they think I’m weird and wonder what is up with me! It keeps going round and round in my head, I wonder what triggered me to feel this way again? is it I’m intimated by them? but I have never been before now. Is this the anxiety part of OCD? really don’t want to go back to that again. I can’t help but wonder is this always going to happen throughout my life? For a period I’m fine and the next I feel bad with OCD again? Does anyone else feel this way? Please help?

I have dealt with anxiety and have been on antidepressants in the past. I encountered some people who didnt understand it and made fun of it a bit. I found the combination of prescription and a deeper look at my relationship with GOD really helped get me to the point I dont need the help of medication any longer. We tend to make up stories in our thinking which multiply the fears we experience. I would suggest some time in the adoration chapel and after making a good confession, look at the events in your life and do away with the things you cant control or are of little importance. That will begin to help you look at situations with reality.
Offering prayer for you, you are never alone

I highly recommend seeing a therapist who is experienced with anxiety/OCD. It is also important to know if you have an introvert personality. As a good therapist I know says, “it takes pills and skills.”

There’s nothing “wrong with you” as a person, but if you have a medical condition, and these are similar to symptoms of that condition, you probably should talk to a doctor and/or therapist.

But seriously, there is no need to be ashamed or think that this condition makes you somehow inferior.

I have had OCDs in the past. I am currently in treatment for anxiety and depression. I suggest you find a clinic or two and set up a payment plan if you have a low income. Talk to a doctor at the clinic of your choice and get a proper evaluation. I can’t give out medical advice but I do recommend seeing a doctor.

And yes, prayer and Bible reading/study helps. Really helps 🙂

God bless,
Ed

I have the same thing. It’s a form of social anxiety. You can ask your doctor what you can do to help this situation. My anxiety makes my whole body break out in hives when I get embarrassed or stressed

Mention what you just told us to your psychiatrist/psychologist. They are in a better position to advise.
