So…I’ve noticed some strange things happening. 😳

Strange things.

This is a post just for you peeps, since I’m a little unsure about posting it on my blog or my Facebook, and it seems to be more a spiritual question than anything!

(If I ever DO become Catholic, I’m gonna be awful at confession. I promise I’m getting to the point! 😊)

This is gonna sound weird. But, have you all ever heard of odd things happening, whenever someone begins to deepen their spiritual life a bit more, etc?

I consider myself a pretty rational gal! After all, coincidences do happen…it’s all a part of life, right? 😊

Well…It started this morning.

Driving down the road, listening to good ol’ Bob Marley (Don’t worry, be happy~) I happened to notice a car coming onto the highway to my right.

Well, I do the regular thing and go to move to the left lane…

And the car ahead, in the left lane…SLOWED DOWN. On the highway. Until their car was beside mine. 😶

I figured, heeey, no biggie! Gosh, I’ll just slow down, until the car at my left was ahead, and so the fella coming at the right could safely merge.

And then I saw a motorcyclist right behind me.

There was one in front of me too, so no speeding up to try to pass the peep merging.

Okey-Dokey then.

It was really a close shave, somehow I managed to squeeeeeze into the left lane, I’m not totally sure how- the merging car almost whacked the car that had been in front of me. (Which hadn’t moved/attempted to move over and was strangely drifting over the yellow lines)

Okay, granted, that was kinda funky- and I was a tad shaky- but made it to work A-okay, without having to find out if this TabbyCat has nine lives (Lol, Kidding! Kidding!)

At work, get outta my car, and I notice a heavily pregnant lady has dropped her bag of groceries by the car next to mine. I go to help her.

And what bumper sticker did I see on her car??

AM 820 CATHOLIC RADIO.

So of course my inner self is freaking out and I hadta keep myself from acting like an overexcited puppy. (CATHOLIC. PERSON. BESIDE. ME. ❤️)

I’m pretty proud of myself for acting casual, “Heey, ma’am, I noticed that sticker. Ya go to St. Peter’s?”

She goes to the local St. Mary’s, as it turns out! She told me her brother- who is a coworker- is Catholic… (Um, unfortunately, her brother must not have told her he doesn’t believe, anymore - I didn’t say anything about this of course.)

~

Day goes by uneventfully, after that! And then, just as I was leaving for the night…

(This is gonna sound like something out of a movie, it’s pretty weird)

A fella walked up to me. Bald, sharp features, pale eyes. He hands me a card to a new shop he’s opening up.

It’s…an occult shop. 😳
He goes, “You’re that girl who helped me find the gluten free stuff the other week…You oughta pay my shop a visit, little miss ‘Snow White’.”

“O-Oh, I’m awfully busy! I- I dunno if-“ I tried to politely decline.

“What do ya mean?” He laughed, “Not judging my shop are ya? You’re not Catholic, after all…” He winked, and then went on his merry way, leaving me stunned.

Sorry for how rambling this is! 😅 My thoughts are very jumbled- lets just say it was an…interesting day!

In my mind, theses are pure coincidences. Say you are awakened by your bed shaking and no one else is there - now that is a supernatural occurrence - from the bad side. It would call for a spiritual warfare prayer.

And now might be a good time to learn The Rosary and The St. Michael prayer.

Whether or not you do convert, these are both beautiful and effective prayers.

Blessings,

Sounds mostly coincidental to me. However, it never never hurts to pray a protection prayer.

Be Blessed!

Hi, I want to disagree with others, I believe that there are no coincidences, only sometimes things happen and we are not fully able to understand them here on earth*.

It was sure an interesting day! 😅 The encounter with the occult guy seems creeeeeepy to me! Maybe there’s some struggling around your person in the spiritual realm, who knows? I would suggest simply prayer! Even if you’re not Catholic (yet?? 😉 ), talking with Good Lord is best thing to do! Neither be afraid of situations like this, nor draw near this weird occult stuff. I definitely would not visit that shop! Beside that, love your writing style!

*“For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.”[ 1 Corinthians 13:12]

God bless you!

I believe that there are no coincidences
Really? You don’t think that things can happen at the same time, or close to one another in time? If you don’t mean this, what do you mean?

Yeah! Let’s say the guy died in a car accident. Now – we can say that “things happened at the same time, or close to one another in time” (e.g. ice on the road, fog or flat tire) – and it’s all true. But what we really know as a believers, is that it was his (this car guy) time and God took him away from this world. This applies to our whole lifetime, I believe, not only our last moments.

This and other sections of the Catechism of the Catholic Church addresses the doctrine:

V. GOD CARRIES OUT HIS PLAN: DIVINE PROVIDENCE
302 Creation has its own goodness and proper perfection, but it did not spring forth complete from the hands of the Creator. The universe was created “in a state of journeying” (in statu viae) toward an ultimate perfection yet to be attained, to which God has destined it. We call “divine providence” the dispositions by which God guides his creation toward this perfection: By his providence God protects and governs all things which he has made, “reaching mightily from one end of the earth to the other, and ordering all things well”. For “all are open and laid bare to his eyes”, even those things which are yet to come into existence through the free action of creatures.
303 The witness of Scripture is unanimous that the solicitude of divine providence is concrete and immediate; God cares for all, from the least things to the great events of the world and its history. The sacred books powerfully affirm God’s absolute sovereignty over the course of events: “Our God is in the heavens; he does whatever he pleases.” And so it is with Christ, “who opens and no one shall shut, who shuts and no one opens”. As the book of Proverbs states: “Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the LORD that will be established.”
304 And so we see the Holy Spirit, the principal author of Sacred Scripture, often attributing actions to God without mentioning any secondary causes. This is not a “primitive mode of speech”, but a profound way of recalling God’s primacy and absolute Lordship over history and the world, and so of educating his people to trust in him. The prayer of the Psalms is the great school of this trust.
305 Jesus asks for childlike abandonment to the providence of our heavenly Father who takes care of his children’s smallest needs: “Therefore do not be anxious, saying, “What shall we eat?” or “What shall we drink?”. . . Your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things shall be yours as well.”

Providence and secondary causes
306 God is the sovereign master of his plan. But to carry it out he also makes use of his creatures’ co-operation. This use is not a sign of weakness, but rather a token of almighty God’s greatness and goodness. For God grants his creatures not only their existence, but also the dignity of acting on their own, of being causes and principles for each other, and thus of co-operating in the accomplishment of his plan.
307 To human beings God even gives the power of freely sharing in his providence by entrusting them with the responsibility of “subduing” the earth and having dominion over it. God thus enables men to be intelligent and free causes in order to complete the work of creation, to perfect its harmony for their own good and that of their neighbours. Though often unconscious collaborators with God’s will, they can also enter deliberately into the divine plan by their actions, their prayers and their sufferings. They then fully become “God’s fellow workers” and co-workers for his kingdom.
308 The truth that God is at work in all the actions of his creatures is inseparable from faith in God the Creator. God is the first cause who operates in and through secondary causes: “For God is at work in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.” Far from diminishing the creature’s dignity, this truth enhances it. Drawn from nothingness by God’s power, wisdom and goodness, it can do nothing if it is cut off from its origin, for “without a Creator the creature vanishes.” Still less can a creature attain its ultimate end without the help of God’s grace.
Here you go. Hope it’s not tl;dr for you. God bless!

I don’t like what the creepy guy said but the rest are just coincidences probably. Take it as a sign for God that you’re on the right track and I will pray for you

A few things…

First, I don’t really believe in coincidences, but there sure are a lot of bad drivers out there 😬.

Second, sometimes when you are making an important decision (spiritual, family, career, etc.), stuff like the guy walking out of the occult shop does happen. Random people slight you while seeming to know a lot more about you than they possibly could. On some strange level, I always took as there is something out there just trying wear you down. It happens.

Perhaps some advice…One thing that has really helped me is the Daily Examen Prayer. It is the primary prayer of the Jesuit order. In a way it helps you discern what is a holy influence, not so holy influence, and what is just a bunch of bad drivers. It also reminds you to be grateful to God about life.

It goes as follows; however, there are variations…

This is a version of the five-step Daily Examen that St. Ignatius practiced.
  1. Become aware of God’s presence.
  2. Review the day with gratitude.
  3. Pay attention to your emotions.
  4. Choose one feature of the day and pray from it.
  5. Look toward tomorrow.
It felt like this is what you were trying to do online with your original post. There is a prayer that does that 😀. Also, perhaps a suggestion is to poke around on the Ignatian Spirituality website, and see what you can learn.

With the 20/20 hindsight we come to realize that GOD moves in mysterious ways. HIS providence is at work 24/7 sometimes we go along sometimes we resist it. All the Universe is playing along and in the end HIS plan will succeed.
So no in reality there are no coincidences and we sometimes recognize the hand behind some others we don’t.
I’ll pray for your conversion. God bless and God speed.

I do not believe in coincidences, all that happens - happens for a reason. Two offers on the table - one from our Lord Jesus and one from Satan. Call it the cross roads in your spiritual directions, your free choice.

Our Lord Jesus letting you know that he is there for you by merging safely into the lane and then the pregnant women with the bumper sticker that gave you the opportunity to talk to her.

On the other hand you met a man who knew more about you than he should, called you 'snow white; who we know from the book is a rather naive young woman where she undergoes maturity once meeting the dwarfs then experiences death (sleep-like state) - could liken to spiritual death. Then reminded you that you were not Catholic. Such blatant ego. Who do you think the owner of the shop was working for?

@CheerfulTabby22 how did he know you werent catholic had you mentioned it ?

Thank you for the wisdom and advice!
I’ve never heard of the Daily Examen before- I’ll look into this! It sounds like a beautiful way to become more aware of daily life, in general. ☺️

He said it just in kind of a teasing, joking way, maybe just riffing on the stereotype of “Judgmental Catholics” (Which of course I don’t believe! Stereotypes are silly) But, it was a very random, strange thing to say out of the blue. 😯

If he didn’t know for sure and then he winked at you i’d have taken that in a very creepy way myself. Just as it is not sensible to assume everything is supernatural it’s equally not sensible to write everything off as ‘just one of those things’. Pray for him and let someone else deal with him next time
