We have heard over and over again that people are more important that property as a means of excusing the wanton lawlessness. At what point does that no longer apply?

Resisting arrest. At what point when you believe your life is in danger, do you have the God Given Right to start fighting back to save your life. At some point the Cops have become the Criminals. The resisting arrest law does not address this. Do you think it should?

They left out the part about one of the cops being Mexican.
Anyone who actually thinks this is a relevant rebuttal to accusations of police racism is not an intelligent person.
They also left out the part about Rodney’s two partners obeying police orders, staying on the ground, and emerging unhurt.
Why are these types always such boot lickers? Why is it always those who are so afraid of “Big Government” who are some of the biggest apologists for police brutality? We’ve seen countless examples of police brutality on film, there is nothing you can do to convince people it doesn’t happen. The truth is already out.

The problem with this article is that the author seems to think that racism is merely a product of nasty ideas that certain individuals have in their heads, rather than viewing racism as part of broader social systems. “It isn’t racist if black cops kill black people, because racism is simply a product of certain white people believing the wrong things!” If this were true then we would have to say that colonialism was not a racist institution, since generally colonial empires ruled with the cooperation of non-white ruling classes and other collaborators.

It’s interesting that the author notes that black people commit more crime but doesn’t seem to think that has anything to do with a racist system that condemns a disproportionate amount of black people to poverty. Police brutality, black crime, black poverty and racism generally are all connected, but the author can’t see that because they’ve reduced racism to “wrong ideas” about other races that individuals hold, which is frankly a stupid position to take.

The trouble with society is too many are either unwilling or unable to apply a call for justice or law and order across the board.

Many will turn a blind eye to killing an innocent by accepted authority figures, while calling for quick and severe punishment for violent crimes such as looting.

And, many will offer justification for those who turn legal civil disobedience into criminal mayhem, yet expect certain justice be administered to, in this case four Minneapolis police officer.

We can’t have it both ways. We can’t pick and choose which actions are immoral, unethical, illegal, and unGodly.

We should recall the Letter of Saint James, (Jas 2:10), who’s inspired word made it clear that we can’t choose which laws to obey, and which to overlook and still claim righteousness.
