Ok, do you consider protestant marriages as being invaild?

Consulting the parish priest can help. If he wants, or has more questions, he could call the diocese and ask for the number of someone on the marriage tribunal to speak with.
 
the best advice you give her is to see her priest and lay out all the facts of the situation. There is no one answer that is best because there are so many variables. She does not know the baptismal status of his ex, for one thing, and a dozen other things can change the answer. She has to see her own priest. Nothing third hand is going to be of much help to her.
Unfortunately she’s not willing to do that. She says there’s always a way. I was just trying to warn her.

Actually you can call the Marriage Tribunal yourself, at least in some dioceses.

Actually I should have said the relationship hasn’t got that far yet, and I was just trying to warn her. I don’t know all the details but I would want to check it out first before I went down that road, it’s easier to stop when it’s just beginning than to wait until later.
The only thing I can do now is to pray for her.
