I was wondering, is it okay to pray the Holy Rosary while having a glass of wine?
If your day is stressful, perhaps you should add some prayers prior to the source of the stress. Perhaps you should slow down your rosary a bit, meditating and conversing a little with Mary in between decades, or even pausing on her name to imagine her splendor. Thanks for the replies. But what if the glass of wine is your 3rd, 4th or 5th? I take it as long as one is sincere, it doesn’t matter?
I do not drink everyday. But some days are more stressful than others, and I hope when I do have some wine it doesn’t have to change my prayer life.
Thanks…
I would think that if that glass of wine/spirits causes some abuse than praying the Rosary while you have it may very well be one of the best things you could do!!!Thanks for the replies. But what if the glass of wine is your 3rd, 4th or 5th? I take it as long as one is sincere, it doesn’t matter?

Think about it. You’re praying. And having a glass of wine. But you’re still praying. Nothing to do with sincerity. Just getting a little mellow. Thanks for the replies. But what if the glass of wine is your 3rd, 4th or 5th? I take it as long as one is sincere, it doesn’t matter?

That’s an old story, and I think the moral is that although there are times when our full attention should be turned toward Our Lord, i,e, at Holy Mass, Saint Paul tells us to pray always, which would involve praying while doing other things. I once heard a story about a nun who attempted to pray the Our Father constantly during the day, and eventually, constantly running through the Lord’s Prayer while doing just about anything became automatic.Reminds me of a (sort of) joke of a conversation between a seminarian and his mentor. The seminarian asked if it were ok to smoke while he was praying. The mentor steamed back “Of course not!” Then, after thinking a while, he asked if he could pray while he smoked. The mentor then replied “Of course. Very good, my son.”
Padre Pio had a special gift that enabled him to concentrate of three things at once. Also, Padre Pio of Pietrelcina was often seen with one hand hidden in the breast of his habit. Underneath, he kept a rosary, and would say it constantly, even during conversation or work–don’t ask me how he did it; Saintly virtue, I suppose–
Most mothers of young children have that gift also. Maybe he learned it from his motherPadre Pio had a special gift that enabled him to concentrate of three things at once.
