The charity and work of pope pius XII during world war II so impressed the chief Rabbi of Rome, Israel Zolli, that in 1944 he was open to the Grace of God which led him into the Catholic faith. As his baptismal name, he took the same one Pius had, Eugenio, as his own. Later Mr. Israel Zolli wrote a book entitled “Why I Became a Catholic”.

I know enough about history to tell you that, by the late 1940’s, the war was well and truly over.

The ‘Holocaust’ was nothing of the sort - in fact the first victims of the Nazis were members of the Social Democratic and Communist Parties but that wasn’t the ‘Holocaust’ either.

Which has absolutely nothing to do with the topic of your supposed ‘Catholic Holocaust’.

Most of whom were Poles, killed because they were Poles.

Err? For the last couple of posts, it seems quite evident that you haven’t read the posts to which you’re supposedly replying. Quite why this is so, I can only guess - either don’t reply or reply to what I’ve said.

As to your comments, both here and before, about the superiority of your historical knowledge, these are both inappropriate and, well, in your dreams.

For many people, the slaughter of children for the crimes of their ancestors…these constitute as the highest form of injustice. If you have a young child, look at her/his face and imagine them being slaughtered as payment for your own personal mistakes.

I too, could never understand why God did it. I just accept it because it is recounted in the Bible as harsh reality of the consequence for those who were not on the good side of God. You do have a point there. I wish I could defend God there and come out with the Holy Zone thing but I know in my mind that would not absolve God’s guilt of cruelty (in a human mind) of eliminating an entire race.

But thanks God, today we have Jesus. He makes the difference. The old laws and the nature of things being replaced by the new ones.

Well, 1-many pagan religions involved human sacrifices, for one thing. Not the Israelites… except maybe Jephtah! Ever since God’s test on Abraham over Isaac the son that had been promised to him by God.
2-The pagans used to worship many gods. The Israelites, only one God.
3-The sabbath, which is unique to the Israelites.

That certainly changed in the time of the prophets Jeremiah and Ezechiel ( maybe even before? ) !!!

In ancient times I guess the peoples used to believe “Like father, like son” quite more litterally and more absolutely, maybe something like: “Like the leader, like his people” …
