Hi Aydan,

If I might go back to something you said earlier …
tha’st just it I’m having doubts but I believe strongly in the papacy besides I don’t have any Eastern Churchs in my area so I really have no choice because I want to remain Catholic so I feel I have to stay in the Latin Church.
Please note that there are both Eastern Orthodox Churches and Eastern Catholic Churches. The Eastern Catholic Churches are just as Catholic as the Latin Catholic Church is. Eastern Orthodox Churches are non-Catholic, i.e. not in full communion with Rome.

So, to get to the point, if there were an Eastern Catholic parish in your area, you could go to it and still remain Catholic. (Of course, that doesn’t do you much good since aren’t any in your area. :o)

I’m fully aware of that actually the situation has been resolved so I would appreciate it if we could please drop the subject on this particular threadthanks

Alright. (Yes, I have notice this thread has become a little confrontational. 😦 ) I just hope you will continue participating in other threads. 👍

of course I will continue to do so. In fact if you look at my posts you’ll see that that’s how this problem got resolved on another thread. I’m a prayer warrior after all so I’m going to keep participating for sure.

Hi Aydan , did a little research on St.Ahmed , really heart inspiring and it gives a lot of understanding to all of the eastern christians and being of eastern background , I am very happy of the many contributions that the eastern christians gave to the body of Christ.
When G+D unites all of the body of Christ , all four corners of the globe , perhaps we can all appreciate one another.

I agree it’s been great learning about all the wonderful traditions that we have as Catholics in our church and I really hope that people can learn from all of these traditions because it’s so neat how you can have all these different traditions but anywhere you go it is still a single Catholic apostolic Church and that is awesome! Yeah I found the story of St. Ahmend to be very inspiring as well. I have two patron saints St. Michael and St. Christopher but I decided I needed to have a Turkish patron saint so I chose St. Ahmed after reading about him.

You said an eastern theology is outdated. That indicates that the eastern churches are outdated.
No I did not, Jimmy.

I NEVER once said “Eastern Theology is Outdated”. If you think I did, please show me where you claim I said that.

Hello all.

I am trying to understand the move from Latin Catholicism to Eastern Orthodoxy.

In the process, what goes through your mind?
  1. I retain the good things that are Latin, but appreciate the Eastern understanding more.
  2. I have reinterpreted my understanding of Latin theology in light of what Eastern Orthodoxy teaches about Latin Catholicism.
  3. I never appreciated Latin theology that much to begin with, and found Eastern theology more satisfying.

Perhaps you are confused. This forum is for Eastern Catholicism. “Orthodoxy” would be discussed in the Non Catholic Groups forum. This forum is for Catholics.

perhaps if you have any misunderstandings contact your bishop or a priest instructed in byzantine studies , no war , no war , just peace.
Catholic churches remain Catholic , no matter the day or time.
eastern rites and western rites all glorify G+D , St.Peter pray for us.      :highprayer: We all could learn from one another!!!

This question comes up once in a while, both here and on the “Non-Catholic Religions” forum. It was dealt with by Catherine Grant on the thread “What is the Catholic response to the Orthodox view of Heaven and Hell?” Quoting from that thread:
I’m rapidly coming to the conclusion that this entire thread ought to be moved to a different forum, such as “Non-Catholic Religions”.
