You remind me of an aunt I have (Catholic side of the family)…she is a very devout Catholic, and loves animals so much. She bought a cute little St Francis medal made just for pets, and put it on her cat! Thanks, Sepharad. Yes, I agree with you that the Kosher way of killing animals is the best. Reverence for all life is most important. Cruelty to animals is awful. God made such a beautiful world, full of all kinds of life, we all should take care of His creation.
Why’d you stop being a vegetarian, if you don’t mind me asking? While I do agree that the kosher way of slaughter is more humane, I think I’m going to eventually go back to being a vegetarian. I just felt better, physically and emotionally when I was one. I find lately I’ve been wearing my heart outside my body (so to speak) when it comes to hearing about cruelty to any kind of creature of G-d.
Stupidity on my part…and laziness. Back in the days when I was a veg (1983-1995), veg food was hard to come by when you went out to eat…you pretty much were resigned to salads and French fries! So to make life easier for my husband and kids, I went back to meat eating so we could go out to eat as a family a lot easier. Why’d you stop being a vegetarian, if you don’t mind me asking?
Personally, I’ve never been moved by a love of animals to feel bad about them being slaughtered for food. That being said, there are other reasons that make vegetarianism appealing to me. I’m currently a pescetarian (though I don’t eat fish because I dislike the taste). I’ve been thinking about becoming vegetarian later this year. Here’s to the veggies!![]()
