Would those adherents to OSAS please support their contention using Biblical reference only.
Not true. We just get sick of repeating ourselves. So to save my breath, a cut and paste will work this time.Trishie,I don’t think that anyone will have the courage to do so because it CAN’T be proven from Holy Scripture- it is entirely a man-made invention that is in fact a sin of presumption.
Which of course it most certainly does, for *what sin *can cause them to lose their salvation?Critics of the “once saved, always saved” doctrine claim that it gives Christians a license to sin.
“In the Luther corpus one can find a large amount of material that makes Luther sound like a typical minister or religious leader. He is opposed to divorce, adultery, prostitution, promiscuity, and everything else on the typical list for a moral authority. … But this paints a one-dimensional picture of Luther, one which is encountered in virtually every popular, and even in many scholarly, biographies—the expurgated, bowdlerized Luther.
“What is missing in the more conventional biographies of Luther is his willingness to make exceptions for anything. He embodied what came to be known in the twentieth century as situation ethics. Luther was, in fact, wonderfully contradictory and wonderfully resilient, willing to make exceptions in any sphere, provided they suited his own notions of justice and compassion. Consistency was not his concern.
"Thus when he gave Philip of Hesse pastoral approval for his bigamy, Luther knew full well that this was not consistent with his own preaching on marriage. There are many other instances where he took positions that were contrary to the ideals and standards that he, under normal circumstances, supported.
“When a Waldensian minister named Lawrence commiserated with Luther over having castrated himself for religious reasons as a youth, Luther responded, “I’d rather have two pair added than one taken off.” 26
“Six months after the Luther’s married, his dear friend Georg Spalatin was set to be married in another part of Germany, to a woman also named Katy. Luther regretted that it was not safe for him to venture on a journey to join the wedding party, given the numbers of authorities who wanted him arrested. So he sent Spalatin the following message [December 6, 1525]:
“‘I will calculate how long it will take my courier to reach you. The very night you receive this letter you penetrate your lovely Katy, and I will penetrate mine. Thus we will be united in love.’ 27.
“Luther was approached by a man claiming that his wife had syphilis and could not engage in sexual intercourse. The man complained that he could not bear the burden of chastity. Luther replied that the man had one of two choices, adultery or bigamy. Luther recommended the latter, with the proviso that he see that his first wife was fully cared for and not abandoned. 28
“Luther followed the same path here as he followed in regard to Philip of Hesse. He tried to balance security for the wife and the other woman with the man’s sexual needs. And on this issue he was no male chauvinist. A woman who came to him with a similar dilemma received similar advice. Her husband was sexually impotent. She wanted to have children, and she also suffered from a lack of sexual satisfaction. Luther advised her to seek the permission of her husband to take a lover, preferably one of her husband’s brothers.”

No surprise then that anyone with a grain of honesty and common sense knows that OSAS does indeed give Christians a license to sin! The gross immorality of Luther and his followers (with perhaps a few notable exceptions) proves as much. Or do you suppose that a certain Valentine Ickelsamer wrote the following to Luther for nothing?
The new creature (incorruptible nature) is the quickened spirit that results from having the Holy Spirit indwell a born again believer.Or the answer usually is because they’re a new creature in God they cannot sin(There goes free will)or if they do sin they weren’t really saved after all.Talk about rationalization and having your cake and eating it too.
Perhaps blindness impart prevents grasping of the concept. No surprise then that anyone with a grain of honesty and common sense knows that OSAS does indeed give Christians a license to sin! These jabs at Catholic beliefs and practices are unnecessary and not very Christian like. They are not appreciated and can be offensive.Perhaps blindness impart prevents grasping of the concept.
Plainly stated that if you repent, profess, and sincerely believed in Jesus and were saved, you will live according to Christ.
If you choose to continue in sin, you never accepted Christ from the beginning. These would be false converts. Understand? Simple concept!
And if I happen to die with unabsolved sins, I’ll have my family pay some indulgences to help me get out of purgatory.
- I’ll just go to the priest that the local parish brings in from somewhere else and so I’ll never have to see him again.
- Confess my sins (or least the ones I’m not embarrassed too)
- And perform some penence (Rosary or Our Father prayers)
Oh Shawn you are revealing your “knowledge” of the Catholic Church which is about an inch deep and a mile wide.Perhaps blindness impart prevents grasping of the concept.

This chapter of John is about believers (“Every branch in me”) abiding in Christ so that they bear fruit (good works) which glorifies God.I think this set of verses supports once saved always saved. How about you?
john 15
1"I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes[a] so that it will be even more fruitful. 3You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. 4Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.
5"I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.** 6If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. **7If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. 8This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.
Those IN Jesus Christ(the true vine) are saved, right? right.
Those IN Jesus Christ(the True Vine), can be cut off from the true Vine(no longer saved).
They can wither, be thrown into the fire and burned. (are these words of salvation? is it opposite day?
peace, rsh
