And she told him “I seek refuge with Allah from you”.
What a brave women she was 👍, it seems she let her brain works and avoided Muhammed’s polygamy.

I think Muslims women nowadays should follow her steps and say no to their husbands:takethat: when they want to take another wives.

**Sahih Bukhari, Volume 7, Book 63, Number 182: **
We went out with the Prophet to a garden called Ash-Shaut till we reached two walls between which we sat down. The Prophet said, “Sit here,” and went in (the garden). The Jauniyya (a lady from Bani Jaun) had been brought and lodged in a house in a date-palm garden in the home of Umaima bint An-Nu’man bin Sharahil, and her wet nurse was with her. When the Prophet entered upon her, he said to her, “Give me yourself (in marriage) as a gift.” She said, “Can a princess give herself in marriage to an ordinary man?” The Prophet raised his hand to pat her so that she might become tranquil. She said, “I seek refuge with Allah from you.” He said, "You have sought refuge with One Who gives refuge. Then the Prophet came out to us and said, "O Abu Usaid! Give her two white linen dresses to wear and let her go back to her family.

صحيح البخاري

And risk having to marry men like you? I think I’d prefer polygyny. :dts:

If it’s an authentic hadith , it proves that Prophet (p) honoured the choice of the woman & did not force her to marry him . I feel pity for her , she missed the chance to be an honourable wife of a blessed Prophet of God Almighty .

Hey,
You changed your quote. I liked the one about being kind to your wives. Oh well…
Well you could quote it yourself… would you like me to find it for you? 🙂 I changed it in Ramadan to one relevant to fasting… and it’s about time to change again.

Salaam/peace

I found one 🙂

“Treat your women well and be kind to them for they are your partners and committed helpers.”

From the last sermon of Prophet Mohammed (p)

In the same sermon, Mohammad also allows Muslim men to beat their wives if they disobey some commandments of their husbands.

**That post angelos was quite un-necessary. Coming to the topic, I admire the good heart of the prophet who released the lady from the bond of marriage at once.

Please note that she was married to the prophet. When he approached her, she said, “i seek refuge with Allah…” So the prophet did not touch her. he sent her back to her family. What a good behaviour !

The prophet is also reported to have said:

“The best amongst you are the ones who are best to their wives ( and children). And I am the best amongst you because I am dealing best to my family.” All praise be to Allah.**

once Prophet (p) was angry with his wives ; he went to mosque & spent few nights there . He did not beat any of his wives . If all married men follow this example , world will become almost like heaven for all married women.

SHOCKING Facts about WOMEN’ ABUSE in the ‘civilized’ West

VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN IN THE UNITED STATES

MURDER : :

Every day four women die in this country as a result of domestic violence, the euphemism for murders and assaults by husbands and boyfriends.

That’s approximately 1,400 women a year, according to the FBI. The number of women who have been murdered by their intimate partners is greater than the number of soldiers killed in the Vietnam War.

This but shows what Mohammad himself supposedly did was different from what he advised/asked Muslim men to do.

women are not slaves of husbands . A Muslim woman is allowed to end her married life if husband mistreats . Islam does not say that it’s adultery to marry a divorced woman .

The Arabic word used in Noble Verse 4:34 above is “idribuhunna”, … The word “idribuhunna” for instance, could very well mean to “leave” them

…"…Do not retain them (i.e., your wives) to harm them…(The Noble Quran, 2:231)"

"If a wife fears cruelty or desertion on her husband’s part, there is no blame on them if they arrange an amicable settlement between themselves ( 4:128)

“O ye who believe! Ye are forbidden to inherit women against their will. Nor should ye treat them with harshness…live with them on a footing of kindness and equity. If ye take a dislike to them it may be that ye dislike a thing, and God brings about through it a great deal of good. (The Noble Quran, 4:19)”

…"I went to the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) and asked him: What do you say (command) about our wives? He replied: Give them food what you have for yourself, and clothe them by which you clothe yourself, and do not beat them, and do not revile them.

women are not slaves of husbands . A Muslim woman is allowed to end her married life if husband mistreats . Islam does not say that it’s adultery to marry a divorced woman .
Islam does not also say that it is adultery to marry up to four women or have concubines.

Muslim men always use divorce as a weapon against their wives, walking in Mohammad’s footsteps:

Surah 66:5
It may happen that his Lord, if he divorce you, will give him in your stead wives better than you, submissive (to Allah), believing, pious, penitent, devout, inclined to fasting, widows and maids.
more info:

The Arabic word used in Noble Verse 4:34 above is “idribuhunna”, … The word “idribuhunna” for instance, could very well mean to “leave” them
This cannot be the meaning of this verb when used in this context:

Surah 4:34
As for those from whom ye fear rebellion, admonish them and banish them to beds apart, and scourge them. Then if they obey you, seek not a way against them. Lo! Allah is ever High, Exalted, Great.

Banishing wives to beds apart is already a form of desertion (leaving them temporarily).
…"…Do not retain them (i.e., your wives) to harm them…(The Noble Quran, 2:231)"
Let’s read the entire verse:

Surah 2:231
When ye have divorced women, and they have reached their term, then retain them in kindness or release them in kindness. Retain them not to their hurt so that ye transgress (the limits). He who doeth that hath wronged his soul.
"If a wife fears cruelty or desertion on her husband’s part, there is no blame on them if they arrange an amicable settlement between themselves ( 4:128)
Settlement means divorce or what?
“O ye who believe! Ye are forbidden to inherit women against their will. Nor should ye treat them with harshness…live with them on a footing of kindness and equity. If ye take a dislike to them it may be that ye dislike a thing, and God brings about through it a great deal of good. (The Noble Quran, 4:19)”
The accurate translation of this verse is as follows:

Surah 4:19
O ye who believe! It is not lawful for you forcibly to inherit the women (of your deceased kinsmen), nor (that) ye should put constraint upon them that ye may take away a part of that which ye have given them, unless they be guilty of flagrant lewdness. But consort with them in kindness, for if ye hate them it may happen that ye hate a thing wherein Allah hath placed much good.

and the next verse:

Surah 4:20
And if ye wish to exchange one wife for another and ye have given unto one of them a sum of money (however great), take nothing from it. Would ye take it by the way of calumny and open wrong ?

women are not slaves of husbands . **A Muslim woman is allowed to end her married life if husband mistreats **. Islam does not say that it’s adultery to marry a divorced woman.
Tell that to Pakistani women and Bangladeshi women and Arabian women and Iranian women. Tell this to women in the past, who have been forcibly raped, converted and then divorced when Muslims invaded Christian lands.👍

You act as though Christian women are never abused?
Or that Christian men have never abused them?
