(i don’t respond to ignorance, it bothers me)
Now, if we don’t agree with your interpretation, it’s ignorance?

We receive our interpretation through the authority given to His Church, since it is the pillar and ground of truth and the place where the manifold wisdom of God maybe made known. What is your authority for your interpretation?

Catholics will tell you, there is only ONE mediator and that is Christ.

Asking Mary, or anyone else in heaven to pray for you is no different than asking a person in your Church to pray for you…
You are right. It’s okay to asks others to pray for you in the name of Jesus. But you can’t pray to dead saints, they can not hear you.

No, its the personal opinions and attacks. I am speaking on ignorance in the Word also. I post scripture and if you don’t agree then provide scripture to back your claim. I welcome feedback, but only scripture based. Opinions and attacks are not needed. If you don’t believe me, read my threads and see what your catholics friends say. No scripture to back their claims. That’s what I mean by ignorance.

We can converse as long as it stays off of the personal level. I am talking to you aren’t I?

Again, what does that profit you. You only want me to answer that so you can attack me.

When I read I pray for the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Do you think that a person has to provide you with an interpretation for you to believe to be true. I put my trust in God not a man.
Well and good. . .but how can you be sure the Holy Spirit is answering you, and not an evil spirit?

Feelings? Feelings are subjective and can often be mistaken.
“Assurance” by the spirit? Evil spirits would be quick to ‘lie’ and to say they were good ones.
What else can you offer to ‘prove’ that you both ‘hear’ the guidance of the Spirit AND that it is the one and only Holy Spirit and not an evil spirit?

Circular reasoning won’t work. If you ‘read’ a scripture passage, think ‘it sounds like it COULD mean this’, ‘ask’ the Spirit, and get a ‘reassuring feeling’, you’ll say,

"I consulted the spirit and I’m assured that this passage means X’. .

But you haven’t proved a thing. You could be completely mistaken in your reading, completely mistaken in your ‘hearing’ or feeling. . .and there’s no way you can be positive you really DID hear the Spirit. . .

I was not understanding the protestant point on this before, but now it seems to be the only way to reconcile all this. On top of the fact, how do you reconcile being in heaven when KNOWING a family member is in eternal hell? That can’t feel like heaven unless your brain is numbed by God to not remember that person at all.
Not numbed, but perfected.

How do I reconcile being in heaven while I know a loved one isn’t there?

According to Revelation 21, where St. John speaks of heaven,

** “And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. AND GOD SHALL WIPE AWAY ALL TEARS FROM THEIR EYES; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: FOR THE FORMER THINGS ARE PASSED AWAY. And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.”**

While it breaks my heart on earth to know loved ones are living Godless lives and choosing in every way to live not according to the law of God but according to the desires of their flesh, my sadness on earth is what moves me to pray for them and to actively try to evangelize them. I can have a blessed assurance that I won’t feel pain or despair in heaven, because I will be in the very Presence of God.

Chapter and verse from Scripture that those who are dead in Christ cannot ‘hear’. Specifically, now.

I want to see’ Those who have died in Christ do not and cannot hear those on earth.

The problem with one claiming Holy Spirit guidance is the many denominations in the world, all with slight to great differences in doctrines, and all based on someone’s private interpretation and all claiming guidance of the Holy Spirit. Does the Holy Spirit give multiple ‘truths’ that conflict with each other?

Did you read Nehemiah 8? Those people had the scriptures explained to them.

**Nehemiah 8

1And all the people gathered themselves together as one man into the street that was before the water gate; and they spake unto Ezra the scribe to bring the book of the law of Moses, which the LORD had commanded to Israel.

2And Ezra the priest brought the law before the congregation both of men and women, and all that could hear with understanding, upon the first day of the seventh month.

3And he read therein before the street that was before the water gate from the morning until midday, before the men and the women, and those that could understand; and the ears of all the people were attentive unto the book of the law.

4And Ezra the scribe stood upon a pulpit of wood, which they had made for the purpose; and beside him stood Mattithiah, and Shema, and Anaiah, and Urijah, and Hilkiah, and Maaseiah, on his right hand; and on his left hand, Pedaiah, and Mishael, and Malchiah, and Hashum, and Hashbadana, Zechariah, and Meshullam.

5And Ezra opened the book in the sight of all the people; (for he was above all the people) and when he opened it, all the people stood up:

6And Ezra blessed the LORD, the great God. And all the people answered, Amen, Amen, with lifting up their hands: and they bowed their heads, and worshipped the LORD with their faces to the ground.

7Also Jeshua, and Bani, and Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodijah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, Pelaiah, and the Levites, caused the people to understand the law: and the people stood in their place.

8So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading.**

Having scriptures explained was not limited to Old Testament times as we see from the example of Philip and the Ethiopian eunuch?

Act 8:30 And Philip running thither, heard him reading the prophet Isaias. And he said: Thinkest thou that thou understandest what thou readest?
Act 8:31 Who said: And how can I, unless some man shew me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.
Act 8:32 And the place of the scripture which he was reading was this: He was led as a sheep to the slaughter: and like a lamb without voice before his shearer, so openeth he not his mouth.
Act 8:33 In humility his judgment was taken away. His generation who shall declare, for his life shall be taken from the earth?
Act 8:34 And the eunuch answering Philip, said: I beseech thee, of whom doth the prophet speak this? Of himself, or of some other man?
Act 8:35 Then Philip, opening his mouth and beginning at this scripture, preached unto him Jesus.

There are more examples and I would be more than happy to provide them for you, if you wish.

I am not attacking you. I am defending my faith from your assertions and I’m using scriptures to do so. Any honest person would admit that the Catholic beliefs come from an interpretation of scriptures, even if they do not agree with that interpertation.

I see you have found something to use against me. That’s how you do it.

Ecc. 9:5 For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.

Are you saying the scriptures contradict each other?

**Mar 12:27 He is not the God of the dead, but of the living. You therefore do greatly err. **

If I am mistaken then CORRECT me but use scripture and EXPLAIN it.
Well, you tell me so that I can know if you are mistaken.

How do you 'know" you have received guidance from the Holy Spirit? I asked about a couple of things and you never answered so please, tell me how you KNOW what the Spirit has said regarding any Scripture passage which you are studying.

Wait, you asked me to provide you with verse and chapter and I did. Let’s finish that conversation before you find something else to attack me on.

I see you have found something to use against me. That’s how you do it.
I am not ‘finding’ things to use against you. I am providing scriptures, the written word of God, to show you how Catholics believe as they do. Is it your purpose to use verses to somehow go ‘against’ Catholicism?

To receive a full context, you must read a passage that a verse is in. To receive the full context of a passage, you must read the chapter the passage is in. To receive the full context of the chapter, you must read the book (letter, epistle or Gospel) it is in. To understand the book, you must read the entire Testament it is in. To receive the full context of a Testament, you must read the other Testament. The Old Testament foretells the New and the New fulfills the Old.

Ecc. 9:5 For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.

Want more on the sleep of death?
Now, how do you reconcile that with the fact that this is the Old Testament and refers to those who die ‘before’ Christ, and that in the New Testament God is referred to as the God of the living, and that those who die in Christ (that’s why I was specific in pointing out “die in Christ” because that marks the ‘change’ that Christ’s death has made, in that we are no longer dead in sin) are no longer dead?

Because your passage here is flatly contradicted by the New Testament.

Since we know that Scripture does not contradict itself, then if people in Christ are living and not dead any longer, then this passage from Ezra must refer to the state of humanity BEFORE Christ redeemed us.

Are you saying the scriptures contradict each other?

**Mar 12:27 He is not the God of the dead, but of the living. You therefore do greatly err. **
No, I never said that and you know it. That is what the Bible say, and I will not argue about that. Take that one to the ones who are in authority over you.

What is the contradictory?

Wait, you asked me to provide you with verse and chapter and I did. Let’s finish that conversation before you find something else to attack me on.
No, I’m not attacking you. No, you didn’t provide chapter and verse to explain how you KNOW that you have been ‘assured’ by the Spirit. You provided it on something different. Please finish the first conversation about your assurance before changing the subject, thank you.

Asking Mary, or anyone else in heaven to pray for you is no different than asking a person in your Church to pray for you…
I did not say that you can’t ask Mary or anyone eles in heaven to pray for you. Did you read my posts 22-25-35 I believe I made my self clear on this matter.

No, I never said that and you know it. That is what the Bible say, and I will not argue about that. Take that one to the ones who are in authority over you.

You said that in Ezra, those who have died know nothing. The Sadducees were speaking to Jesus about those who had died, and asking which of 7 men would be the husband of a woman they all had married. And Jesus tells the Sadducees, and you, that those people–those who had died–were no longer dead because God is God of the living.

IOW . . .since they are no longer ‘dead’ , then passages which speak of the dead as ‘not knowing’. . no longer refer to those in heaven.

And your contention then that they do not ‘hear’. . .is wrong.
