Open Letter To Priests And Bishops: Resign If You Need To

This is an open letter asking those clerics who have been sexaully active, abused others, or covered up to resign their posts. Some minor offenders might need to work through some problems but the big offenders need to leave the priesthood,.

Excellent advice from a very faithful priest.
 
An excerpt:

“If you are sexually active as a priest, religious or bishop, please realize the gravity. It is not an act where you say, “I love you,” to the person you’re sinning with, but an act where you say, “I despise you!” to the whole Church and each of her members. You promised fidelity to the Church like a husband promises fidelity to his wife. Infidelity is unacceptable. If you are sexually active, please resign your position now!”

Please send a similar one to the public schools and other religions as well.
 
That is not the point. The linked letter was written by a priest.
 
So, I am making it another point- an all across the board standard for schools and other faiths- and a good model for their letters which we all await.
 
Well maybe you should make that your cause.
Obviously, the priest that wrote this letter is just concerned with other priests, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Perhaps you should write those letters if you feel so strongly.

The press does not print anything like that for non-catholic organizations- I have already tried. Remember. the so-called list of 700 Southern baptists was out of the press as soon as it came in. Sure, he is concerned with other priests, but the some is not the all. I feel sorry for the majority of priests and fiathful parishoners that are being used now as punching bags for the laity as many get on the band wagon of finger pointing and attempting to “call people out.” Good folk do not make headlines anymore.
