Well, my mom was beaten to a pulp, strangled, and left for dead. But she lived.

/, but it’s the truth.
qui est ce, my heartfelt condolences to your family. I’m hoping that she and your family have been able to get over the emotional scarring and pain. I’m sorry she didn’t have the means to defend herself, it is terrible to live with that sense of vulnerability one carries after a physical violation of that magnitude…

You and your family are in my prayers.

No, I am not.

I didn’t say I was. Did I?
FYI…we also aren’t on the prosecution or defense teams, members of the media, Florida law enforcement, forensic team, etc… Just in case it comes up. 😉

I never said you were. Attention to detail, my friend.

has anyone wondered why this trial is not labeled as a hate crime ? And, is not being tried as a hate crime ?

this entire incident started in the media with giant cries of racism , as a white man who was playing hero and shot a poor defenseless young black teenager, that right there was the entire premise to this. Then it comes to light that the man is of a mixed race, an the cry stopped, an shifted to okay the guy had no right to carry a weapon, nor shoot a younger teenage boy ( because remember that was the photographs we were shown ), to wait a minute the victim is not this innocent looking boy he is a tall young teenager… ah so the mouths drool once again, how in the world can it be spun into, that this man set out to murder this kid for no good reason…

Yet the entire undertone of this trial is with out a doubt heated on the idea of this young kid was murdered because of his race. So I can only wonder why did the prosecution not go after that ? The media surly wanted everyone to think it was a hate crime or race crime.

any day of the week in America people murder each other constantly for the smallest of reasons, to the extreme, from one race killing the same, to actual race / hate crimes, and everything in between.

So why is this incident in the limelight ? IF this is not a hate crime, nor if it is not a race crime, are we to believe it is a case about the right to self defense with the use of a fire arm ?

Because the last thing I remember was Zimmerman was let out of jail, and then only re arrested when after what happened ??? and why ??? anyone remember ?

People use lethal force all the time in self defense and do not get charged of a crime or arrested and put on trial for self defense, it does happen, the person who uses lethal force may be questioned for a period of time, but if every single person in America who owned a fire arm, and thusly used that fire arm in self defense and in turn killed the person in self defense, can any one imagine how back logged our courts would be if a trial had to take place in every circumstance that happened ?

We are trying to be lead to believe that Zimmerman had a chip on his shoulder and a thirst for blood and has this hero mentality and not only had a fire arm but was itching to use it, so thusly he created a situation in which he had reason to use it an thus a crime took place.

or if someone wants to say how can a teenager beat the **** out of an adult, come on, there are plenty of instances where children beat their mother, heck in parts of Asia there are bloody super teenagers who learn martial arts and can whip the snot out of any grown man, this case might not be a cut and dry case any more, but I think that is due to the media trampling all over it and the police department not being allowed to do their job through the pressures of the community and the public out cry over the matter.

IF anything I do not think this incident deserves national attention nor the spotlight it has gotten. It should have been a local agenda and a local story.

If Zimmerman was apart of the Klan or some other hate group, then fine spot light that and point out what real racism and hate crimes are.

Thanks for sharing your view point.

Interesting points. Indeed, the earliest threads on CAF regarding this incident primarily focused on race. Obviously, there is even less evidence that it was a hate crime than there is that it was a murder.

I guess one the media was committed to the idea that this was the crime of the year, they felt they would have to continue to run with it.

The medical examiner said that those abrasions could have happened several hours before the altercation, during the altercation, or after the gunshot.
The ME’s testimony was just wild. He seemed more prepared to give a presentation rather than testimony in a murder trial. He is probably an excellent ME, but his testimony certainly didn’t show it.

I wonder how his testimony will hold up to the Defense’s expert witness.

I have it taped and haven’t heard the testimony yet but I heard it was a disaster.
He was giving a presentation and not even referring to official documents.
I doubt he will hold up well to the Defense expert witness if it was as bad as you say and others have said.

That’s why I posted the link to the comments made by one of the local analysts. Apparently, the ME referred to a book written by the defense’s expert witness in explaining his findings. If that expert witness trashes the ME’s findings, it could prove to be powerful for the defense.

I’ll have to go back and find that link. This thread moves so fast, I lose track of where I left off sometimes.

I believe he is an expert. Just not good at presenting. What is important are the facts. He presented in details how Trayvon died. Very graphic.

He said he used many books.

Of course he’s an expert. He wouldn’t have been hired for his job if he wasn’t. But, I can’t imagine that this was his first time testifying, so you’d think he would have a better grasp on how it all works. 🤷

Regardless, the jury gets to hear more than one expert opinion and has to decide who is more credible. If the Defense’s witness is more confident in his answers and contradicts Boa’s testimony, he could come across as more credible. Bao continually referred to relying on other sources and not on his own experience or training. He even testified that he wasn’t relying on his training or experience.

He also changed his testimony on how long it would take him to die, so the “facts” don’t seem to be clear. You are right…he isn’t good at presenting. All analysis I read says his testimony didn’t help the prosecution. That is also important.
