You clearly have an anti-gun agenda. “Gun slingers…” OH PUH-LEASE. Please re-read the excellent post where carrying a gun is justified for self defense and for defense of the innocent. Mass shootings have been stopped by someone with a concealed carry including one in a mall near my home. I am HAPPY to know that in certain places there are trained and armed citizens.

If GZ were truly out to catch a bad guy, why did, in all of the time he carried a gun, did he not take an opportunity to pull it out and shoot someone? Or stop them at gun point? He has a history of contacting authorities if he sees something suspicious. You might fault him for being overzealous in contacting police in an area where there have been multiple break-ins, including “hot” break ins where the occupants were home. But you can’t say he’s been violent or pulled out his gun without reason.

Did you know that gun crimes by those with concealed carry permits are at a lower percentage than law enforcement officers?

I truly do not understand the anti-gun mentality. I believe it has to do with most such prejudices and that is a lack of understanding of the facts.

The evidence supports GZ’s case, that Trayvon was the initial aggressor. It is NOT illegal to observe or report suspicious activity. That GZ had NOT been previously engaged in a confrontation during his tenure as Neighborhood Watch indicates that he was not likely the one who cornered Martin and instigated the fight.

👍

It is shocking that anyone would want to see an innocent man in prison to “send a message” about guns.

Another assumption about Zimmerman being innocent! If there wasn’t any evidence that he may be guilty this case would never have gone to trial.

Perhaps your right.

Apologies, I am skimming through to catch up.
This thread appears to be moving quick and I don’t have 30 minutes at a time to catch up.
I see, I thought that might be the case, so I suggested re-reading. The thread certainly is moving very quickly and it is hard to keep up.🙂

I don’t believe that at all.
Nor do I at this point, not with all the evidence that has come out. Without the pressure that was brought to bear, I don’t think Zimmerman would have ever been charged, much less brought to trial.

In my opinion, the reason it has gone to trial is due to the emotional response of the tragedy that an unarmed black teen is dead. In my opinion, if Zimmerman is found guilty of manslaughter, it will due to the same reason, the emotional response to that tragedy.

Not to take sides, but this “it should’ve happened because it did happen” reasoning makes little sense. There are countless instances where prosecutors have frivolously brought cases to trial with insubstantial evidence just to make a political point. The Duke Lacrosse case comes to mind. Prosecutors are not infallible, so just because something goes to trial doesn’t mean that it should go to trial.

Exactly; it’s easy to blame everything on the press and the President but it’s not the case.

In my opinion if Zimmerman is found guilty it will be because the jurors decided he was DESPITE the fact many feel he is completely innocent and Martin brought his death upon himself.

This is why they have judges whose job it is to evaluate the evidence before the case goes to trial. The Duke Lacrosse case may have been an anomaly, I don’t know that much about the case. Given the large number of cases that go to trial, I think the legal system does a good job in filtering cases.

Correct. And the standard for going to trial is somewhat loose. If it meets a very basic standard, it goes.

I still don’t see a shred of solid evidence from the prosecution. Why would GZ start a fist fight with someone much more physically able than himself? Why would he wait until he was being pounded into concrete to shoot if GZ was the aggressor? Why didn’t Trayvon just go home?

I’d like to see how there is enough evidence to prove that beyond a reasonable doubt anything that the prosecution claims.

Exactly… wrong… it went to trial because of race and politics. Z is innocent IMO. The media loves the race card… it makes them more money. And politics esp the left thrive on dividing us.

Why didn’t GZ just go home after the dispatcher told him not to follow TM? Why did GZ have to get out of his car when the addresses were plainly visible from his car? Similarly, why did GZ need to get out of his car to read the street sign if GZ was very familiar with the streets and given there were only three streets in the entire condo complex? Why did GZ say to the dispatcher that the f**king punk was getting away if he was not intent upon following him further?

It appears that you are making things up. Look at the interactive map and explanation posted in an earlier post.
