Operation Rescue Founder, Randall Terry, asks Vatican to replace US Bishops

Terry’s comments, as quoted in the article, are inaccurate and uncalled for. The article quotes him as saying “the greatest single reason that child-killing continues in America is the fear or the outright treachery of US bishops.” Why do people like Terry insist that even people that agree with him on the issue are traitors if they disagree with him on methods? This unwillingness to work together with people who are on the same side as you is one of the big reasons that groups like Terry’s have made little headway.
A question for all:

Doesn’t it seem clear that more-and-more pressure to return to complete orthodoxy of faith is now starting to bear down upon the Bishops of this nation?
I think more faithful Catholics, who are supportive of the Vatican, are beginning to get disgusted with the pap we have heard for the past forty years and want some structure. I, for one, am realizing that if our Bishops don’t speak up, the faithful laity will have to do so. Whether it will make a difference, I don’t know, but we are honor bound to support our Faith in the ways we can. Otherwise are we really Catholic?

Which side are you on? This post sounds like one of those, “Don’t overturn Roe vs. Wade”, let’s educate instead.", pleas, but not really on the same side post. Clarify please. Thanks.

The bishops that Terry complains about have never said “let’s not overturn Roe.” And they have spoken up. Archbishop Wuerl spoke out when Pelosi questioned whether the Church had really decided when life begins, for example. He is a strong supporter of life at all stages. But some demand that the bishops excommunicate people on command. I don’t want Terry or anyone else given the authority to tell bishops who to excommunicate, or how to deal with any pastoral issues.

Are either of you suggesting that these bishops are not ‘really’ pro-life, or that they are on the other side of the abortion issue? If so, please provide some evidence to back up such an outrageous claim. As I have said, the problem Terry and others have is that they are not doing their jobs exactly as he would have them do it.

Yes. and the Bishops and Priests in the pulpit need our backing. When they speak out give them a pat on the back and thank them. It takes courage to speak out.

Its simply not true that Archbishop Wuerl and the other bishops he complains about aren’t doing anything. They aren’t doing what he wants them to do, so Terry thinks they should be replaced. Groups that spends their energies attacking people on their own side are rarely able to accomplish anything.
Tell us one good thing Wuerl has done to make those Catholic politicians in his diocese snap to attention.

Wuerl and Niederauer of SFO both spoke up when Pelosi and Biden tried to re-invent the Catholic Church’s position on abortion, BUT that is all they have done. Pelosi and Biden are still receiving communion and neither Bishop nor Archbishop has spoken against it. There are more Bishops/Archbishops sitting on their hands than standing in the pulpit in this instance.
