Opinion: Trump turns the presidency into a dictatorship

Trump is entitled to have a staff that actually works for him in his judgement.
Just as Obama was before him.
Just as Dubya was before Obama.
Just as Clinton was before Dubya.
Just as Bush 1 was before Clinton.
And so on.

We have questioned that judgement often. As we did with Obama. As we did with Dubya. As we did with Clinton. As we did with Bush 1. And so on.

Trump is dictator. That’s it, end of debate, I own you.

So …
Why doesn’t Trump order a nationwide shutdown? Let alone martial law?

And …
Why does Trump continue to let government doctors with no skin in the game continue to make policy for him in contravention to his wishes?

Cognitive dissonance much?

As I said earlier, it was an op-ed. Just for kicks, go count the threads on the news forum and see how many are USA Today and how many are Breibart, for example, if you think this is some liberal trend here.

Why does Trump continue to let government doctors with no skin in the game continue to make policy for him in contravention to his wishes?
  1. Doctors do not set policy. They make recommendations.
  2. Trump is the one with “no skin in the game”, not the doctors.

  • Doctors do not set policy. They make recommendations.
  • Trump is the one with “no skin in the game”, not the doctors.
  1. Doctors make recommendations and anyone who doesn’t like them gets railed on by the media so hard that Trump feels compelled to go with them. That’s a bit inconsistent with the dictator you believe him to be.
  2. Trump would like to get reelected. If that’s not skin in the game, I’ve a bridge to sell you.

I would also suspect that how he is perceived by history in the face of such an awful event as this pandemic is certainty “skin in the game.”

Trump feeling compelled by the media? That is a good one! 😆

If Trump does not get reelected, he and his billions of dollars will be just fine. Doctors, on the other hand, along with all health care workers, are the real heroes of this crisis. You don’t see millions of citizens spontaneously applauding Trump from their open windows at 7PM every night, do you? They have dedicated their entire lives to their profession. They have real skin in the game.

To say that Trump has “no skin in the game” suggests he literally doesn’t care what happens to the US.

I’d say he cares more than you and I do. He gave up ownership & operations of multiple businesses just to run for president; has endured torrents of unending abuse by the media & haters; seen his wife, family and even his young son Barron mocked and attacked; and seen people like Kathy Griffin pretend to cut his head off. He’s endured these while confronting china; Islamic threats; and literally every problem the US faces at one of the most critical periods in world history

The fact that folks like you; Max; etc., seem willing to go to extreme lengths to criticize essentially every act he takes (he fires some obscure government inspectors and he’s suddenly a dictator), and even those who support him, demonstrate what he’s up against.

Seriously, I’ve wasted enough time on knee-jerk haters.

Compared to how much other people care, I think that is quite close to the truth. However I can well believe that Trump cares about himself.
I’d say he cares more than you and I do.
And I would say the opposite.
He gave up ownership & operations of multiple businesses just to run for president.
He’s going to get them all back again - hopefully next year.
had endured torrents of abuse by the media & haters;
You can call it that. I would call it earned criticism.

Last I saw it was still firmly attached.

" As supporters of the Inspector General community , and as advocate for government transparency and accountability, it is our responsibility to confirm that there are clear , substantial reasons for removal," the Senators wrote, asking for an explanation no later than April 13 and citing a 2008 SENATE REPORT about ensuring that WATCDOGS " ARE NOT REMOVED FOR POLITICAL REASONS." SEE GRASSLEY LETTER.
There was no mandatory 30 day letter sent to the Congressional Intel panel either.
The letter goes on:
“…By placing the IG on 30 days administration leave and naming an acting replacement, the administration has already effectively removed that I G and appears to have circumvented Congress role in this process.”
The legislative purpose of the 30 day requirement is:
"…To provide an opportunity for an appropriate dialog with Congress in the event that the planned transfer or removal is viewed as an inappropriate or politically motivated attempt to terminate an effective inspector general. "
The letter goes on: The inspectors General should ONLY BE REMOVED when there is clear evidence of wrongdoing or failure to perform the duties of the office, and not for reasons unrelated to their performance, to help preserve the IG INDEPENDENCE.
HR 928 110 Congress( 2007-2008) amends the prior 1978 act.
Sec 3 REQUIRES the president …to communicate to Congress in writing the reasons for removing or transferring an IG no later than 30 days before such removal or transfer.
Sec 7 sets forth the role of Council of Inspectors.
Section 5a of US CODE sec 2 establishes the purpose of the office of IG.
TO. CREATE INDEPENDENT AND OBJECTIVE UNITS. Separate from Trump.
Sec 3 establishes the IG INDEPENDENCE FROM TRUMP.
Clearly: Trump’s own statements describe retaliation for following the statutes mandate with regard to a whistleblower complaint.
The Senate makes clear the statutory notice requirement was not followed.
Clearly grounds were insufficient per the SENATE REPORT in the eyes of Grassley and the Committee. Their statutory obligation has been invoked. These are the areas of concern and inquiry. Your issues are not among them.
No letter was sent to the committee. Period. And the legislative intent was thwarted. An issue of procedural due process.
Clearly the grounds insufficient. The IG is clearly not at will.
These are potential impeachable offenses, which impeachment cannot happen while McConnells wife continues to benefit as part of Trump’s cabinet. You cannot bring charges against Trump per Barr.
This is Saturday night massacre set over weeks. This is more clear evidence Trump is unfit. It is a play toward dictatorship( removing institutional oversight)

Now firing some obscure government lawyers has become an impeachable offense.

Yep. Haters gonna hate.

The watchdog mechanism of the US government is " obscure"?
The most recent firing was the IG assigned to make sure Trump did not mishandle 2 trillion in taxpayer money.
That guy is obscure?
No! It is a crisis, and Trump is concealing in plain view. THAT IS OBVIOUS BY HIS OWN ACTIONS.
Hater? A hater is someone who calls someone else a hater when that other person is pointing out currupt acts intended to remove oversight of 2 trillion in taxpayer money.

Then the conclusion is that the president is making decisions based on his personal political position, not from the position of doing what is medically best to save lives.
Yep. Haters gonna hate.
Yep. Love is blind.

I knew this to be a lie.

So I looked it up. What I said was:
No way. This picture is disgusting and beyond the pale by any standards, which is why she did it. If it was the “norm” there would be no news article on it. It was totally outrageous and beyond any norm.

Kathy Griffin Beheads Donald Trump in Bloody Shock Photo World News
Our culture continues to go to dubious vistas. (Yet another example of Hollywood “taking the high road”) . . . . **Kathy Griffin Beheads Donald Trump in Bloody Shock Photo ** by DANIEL NUSSBAUM 30 May 2017 Kathy Griffin posed with the severed head of President Donald Trump in a bloody photo shoot for artist and photographer Tyler Shields this week. …And remarked that his head was still attached.

We’re just not going to agree. Leaving.

If the reason was the least bit reasonable why would you think the challenge would automatically win? If there is no need for any standard of reasonableness, why have the statute?
Not particularly wanting to get into the middle of the lawyer fight here, but there are statutes that require reasons for firings without having any standard of reasonableness. One of them is the “service letter” statute in my state. It requires that, upon employee inquiry in writing, a former employer must state the reasons for the employee’s termination. It doesn’t have to be reasonable, so long as it isn’t prohibited by a civil rights type statute.

Trump also made the controversial comment that “when somebody is the president of the United States the authority is total and that’s the way it’s got to be.” The comment drew a deluge of questions from reporters in the room asking Trump to clarify, but neither Trump nor Vice President Mike Pence would go far beyond what the president said.

Trump added: “The authority of president of the United States, when it comes to the subject we’re talking about, is total.”

That is right! President is title given to those in authority.
Nearly half of this country has an issue with authority. Psychology has much to say about people like that. ‘Undermine authority’ is the name of the game of fake news players.
Everyday, fake news reporters grab bites and swallow it up like dog with a bone.
(Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)

What will those fake news reporters grab up and swallow today, tomorrow, the next day…?
Entertaining
not
but the weakness of fake news actually punctuates the good work of President Trump and Admin.
