They did complete the Confraternity translation of all the Old Testament books in 1969 but the entire Confraternity translation of the Old Testament was never published as part of one complete bible.
If one could get a completed Confraternity Bible–both Old and New Testaments–and if all the names in it were the English familiar ones and if it contained the old conservative notes–there wouldn’t be many complaints about it.
Imagine that same bible with the New Grail Psalms.
You wouldn’t have to change a lot about it to have what I think would be a great bible–one that could be used in the lectionary.
I’m not saying that such a bible as that would be perfect–I am saying that it would be more in the ballpark of an ideal translation then anything else we currently have.
