One can’t help sometimes but wonder whether the notoriety of one of these events is an encouragement to the next one. Would these nut cases think to do a school massacre if there was no publicity of any of them? Would they even want to, if they knew they would receive no notoriety?Wasn’t that the point of the Gun Free School Zone act? Leave the children defenseless and on their own with possibly an unarmed teacher? It certainly hasn’t stopped any school shooters and in fact seems to have encouraged them.
yes, yes, I know. Freedom of the press, and all that. But one really has to wonder about the media grinding on with these stories, hour after hour, day after day, leaving no stone unturned, no witness uninterviewed, no speculation unexplored, wallowing in the pathos. It’s really almost ghoulish. And to the real ghouls out there? Does it get their adrenalin up just a bit, perhaps?
