Wasn’t that the point of the Gun Free School Zone act? Leave the children defenseless and on their own with possibly an unarmed teacher? It certainly hasn’t stopped any school shooters and in fact seems to have encouraged them.
One can’t help sometimes but wonder whether the notoriety of one of these events is an encouragement to the next one. Would these nut cases think to do a school massacre if there was no publicity of any of them? Would they even want to, if they knew they would receive no notoriety?

yes, yes, I know. Freedom of the press, and all that. But one really has to wonder about the media grinding on with these stories, hour after hour, day after day, leaving no stone unturned, no witness uninterviewed, no speculation unexplored, wallowing in the pathos. It’s really almost ghoulish. And to the real ghouls out there? Does it get their adrenalin up just a bit, perhaps?

It takes more than that to insert rounds into it though, especially for an untrained crazy kid…you know, about the same time it takes for an able person to run 10 feet or so.
You’re being “funny” again right?

Agreed.

To the malcontent loser that is no longer satisfied with the “OCCUPY” movement they watch all the attention the media is giving this story and think (and I use the term loosely) “This could be me getting all that attention”.

Every deer rifle I have ever seen is semi-automatic. Virtually every pistol nowadays is semi-automatic. One can replace a 5 or 10 round clip in a couple of seconds.
Yep, and one can run 10 feet or so in that same time frame, meaning a few people can subdue one crazy kid with a shotgun much better than a crazy kid with an assault rifle having thirty rounds ready to fire. Just saying.

When you repeat it like that it isn’t so funny the second or third time.

Sigh I’m done with you your posts contribute nothing meaningful to the discussion. Get a shotgun and shoot it then reload and fire again at a target while someone times you, I guarantee it will take more than “a fraction of a second” to do this. The point is firearms with less killing capacity over the same time frame as others are, obviously, less deadly, the point stands. Good day.

Actually did it last week end. Not that hard.

Or are you thinking muzzle loader? In a rush you can do that in about 20 seconds so yeah you could could cover 10 feet pretty easy and beat a person reloading.

No but it remains wholly true, and wasn’t funny the first time either. The point is simple: several brave souls can rush a shooter who is in close distance like a classroom who has a shotgun. Someone will die, but then it ends. Same scenario only the shooter has an assault rifle, everyone dies.

Actually, according to SCOTUS, every abled bodied male is already a member of the milita.

You don’t have to ‘join’, you already ARE milita.
And our military has stockpiles of weapons to place in our hands; far superior to anything I currently own.

Yeah it is. A quick look on YouTube will show that people reloading shotguns take more than a fraction of a second, even for professionals, but whatever Flash.

Ok, what protection do you have to stop government forces if they decided to come inside your home?
Not much if you lived in New Orleans during Katrina. The police went house to house to collect all of the guns.

Gee, maybe that would be a good reason to not have to register them with the government.

And no, I wouldn’t give up my guns if they came house to house. And no, they do not know how many guns I own.

I don’t know. What I mean is, what are the moral obligations of following laws and not registering guns if it were law? I just can’t see it as an unjust law as taught by the Church. 🤷

There was widespread looting and violence, including rape and murder. The police were unable to respond because of the devastation. If you have a family, giving up the only form of protection you have for those under your responsibility in a situation like that is immoral, IMHO.

I think we’re short of the ‘devastation’ you describe, and I didn’t say give up, I said register.
