…why are such large areas that were formerly christian, zoroasterian and hindu are now under the oppressive rule of islam?
Oppressive rule of Islam? Honestly, my answer to this question will **** you off, I’m sure (well, if you’re American), because it’s based on American diplomatic history.
As an American, I’d be the first to tell you we are far from perfect, especially as it relates to international diplomacy. I am very interested to know what the Islamic states think we’ve done diplomatically which has led to the reaction we’ve seen.

How is Saudi, Taliban & Pakistan based on American diplomatic history?

Amy, you are finger pointing. One finger towards the americans, four fingers back towards at you muslims. Muslims are in dire need of learning how to take responsibility for their own failures.

We have done nothing to deserve the sheer hatred and violence directed at us by the Mohammedans. Our only “crime” is not conforming to their perverted worldview.

Trying to understand the Islamic mindset is a futile task. These Mohammedans are willing to blow up their own children for the sake of Allah:

Their hearts and minds went out the window long ago.

^ That picture is meaningless unless they are holding the Quran, or there is the shahada slogan written on them.

Hmm… I don’t represent Islamic states. I’m kind of nervous to answer because I think what I said is going to be very easily misconstrued. I certainly don’t justify religious oppression or intolerance.

You see, it was MY ANSWER to the question (and I didn’t answer the question) which would have been based on American diplomatic history.

I wasn’t saying that oppressive rule of Muslims was based on American diplomatic history. 😊

The shahadah is written on the banner around his/her head, and also on the banner across the chest.

I’m not familiar with the logo though.

Let me take one, specifically the Taliban, and refer you to a movie: Charlie Wilson’s War. Covers Pakistan too. For Saudi, there is more to look at in the 70’s and 80’s. But I just want to be clear that I’m not blaming Americans for everything… it’s why this thread is kind of embarassing, even the title.

Fine. Four fingers back at the Muslims. Fine. I’m not trying to say Muslims aren’t at fault–they are.

I understand if you simply must decline to answer (I applaud your tireless efforts thusfar around the boards… 😉 ) This is not the first time I’ve heard such an accusation however, so I hoped I could get some elucidation from a member of the Islamic community. It may be just your answer, your individual opinion, but it’s one I think that is shared with a great many folk in the Islamic world. I can’t speak for my less delicate brothers and sisters here, but I would not be **** off knowing what the reasoning is behind these accusations, whether the reasoning is based on fact or conjecture.

Why is it that Muslims **always **blame the other guy, I know this is a generalization but I have never had this type of discussion with a Muslim when they havent either blamed the Jew or Isreal or the US or the UK/
These countries from the OP were overrun long before Athe US came into existance.

I apologize for that, causing you embarrassment was not my intent in asking the question. I honestly have heard this before and that’s why I asked.

Muslims ALWAYS? You’re right it is an exaggeration. And it must be very frustrating to try to explain how suicide bombing is wrong only to get a runaround about Jews or Israel or Zionists or Americans, etc. I sympathize.

I was not in my post trying to blame America for bad Muslim leadership. I had an answer to the question which I have come to from studying American diplomatic history, and I do see American involvement, and Muslim countries DO have governments which can claim the support of the US government, while they cannot claim to be supported Islamically–and they aren’t.

I’ve started a separate thread on this subject if you’re so inclined to oblige an answer. This particular thread has performed miserably staying on topic! Mea culpa…
I would like to participate in a thread about US Diplomatic history (and you seem to be very informed on the topic!) but I’m really afraid that this thread is making me look pretty anti-American right now.

The reason that places like Iraq, Jordan, Syria, Egypt, Iran are being ruled by Muslims is because they are inhabited by Muslims. The reason that the rule is oppressive, however, is not because of Islam, but because of what was politically successful in those arenas and what it took to gain power–some of that is based on anti-colonialism, and some has to do with who America has been supporting, and some of it has to do with extreme religious movements.

An easy example is Iran–the USA reinstated the Shah in 1953, which allowed for a wave to build up in Iran that allowed some very extreme religious authorities to take hold in the revolution.

Was the US involved? Yes. Was it to blame? NO!! And neither is Islam.

Amy please show how American diplomacy affected those Christian/Hindu/Zorasterian countries.

I wasn’t saying that. I was saying my ANSWER was based on American diplomatic history… and it had more to do with the nature of Muslim rulers in the world today.

Nothing to do with Iraq 1000 years ago or Iran 1200 years ago, etc. As someone said above I think, America wasn’t even around. 👍

Hmm, just a gentle (name removed by moderator)ut on my part. What about British diplomacy? The Germans in Turkey? The French in Lebanon? If I’m not mistaken these countries set the tone for that which American diplomats stepped into. The British alone had immeasureable (name removed by moderator)ut in the Middle East and the Indian sub-continent and for a far larger period of time.

It is always easier to blame others for your own problems. America is a nice big target.

And the French in Syria. The French in Algeria. The English in India and Pakistan, certainly in Afghanistan. Infact, even Russia (Soviet Union) in Afghanistan. And the British in Egypt and “Palestine.”

You’re right. And I’m not disputing that at all. 🙂

Thank you! I just wanted to make clear that the canvas upon which this picture is painted reflects that this is not just an American problem. It’s roots are far deeper. But I appreciate your honesty. 🙂

Your personal insults have no place here. Continue in this and you will not last here long.

I am updating my ignore list.

You are, however representative of most every Moslem who has ever come to this board. Just here to bait and harass.

If what I said was a personal insult, then what you said was as well. 🙂 I hope you will stop replying to my posts now. 🙂
