Word is, she is going to be on the Democratic ticket. I am supposing she is not pro-life. I hope I am wrong.

What do y’all think as Catholics?👎
Oprah is such a good person… so there is definitely something to it… but hard to p(name removed by moderator)oint as the non-denominational, spiritual but not religious thing is pretty new

I know she has and agenda of taking as many people away from Christianity into this spiritualism.
🤨 Doubtful. I think she is searching herself and with the observation that she latches on to every little thing tells me she has no agenda except to share what she finds. Years ago I watched a show in which she had on guests who had experienced miraculous healings, most of them Catholics, some who had gone to Marian shrines. I taped that show and watched it over and over. I didn’t have cable, let alone EWTN, and I had no idea how to find good Catholic resources. I was barely hanging on to my faith. This episode, plus some Christian music, ministered to me during that time until I had a conversion experience and God sent breadcrumbs from Heaven for me to follow to a parish, a prayer group, Catholic friends, sources for video and audio tapes, magazines, and books, and a spiritual director… You would do well to pray for her instead of ranting about her on an internet forum.

Yes your probably right there are so many people Catholic and Protestants ( Christians ) getting this garbage of spiritualism that they turn inwards to themselves instead of worshipping the creator they worship other things and then God becomes a myth. Catholics who don’t know there faith and where it came from get caught in the trap of spiritualism, JW and Mormonism.

This is from Catholic answers a woman who was freed from spiritualism and is a Catholic again.

I’ll try to watch the video sometime but I can say that The Secret was the worst thing that Oprah ever promoted. If you want to call that out go for it. I’m not sure Oprah totally buys into it.

A lot of what she promoted was self-improvement, health and fitness, personal growth; and if there was a spiritual bent to something it just met another need. For example she introduced Dr. Phil to the world after he helped her with a lawsuit. She thought he could help her viewers like he had helped her. Personally I think he’s a hack, just like a lot of people she promoted. They were superficially helpful, but they managed to make a lot of people feel good for at least a little while.

I don’t know Oprah’s mind but from the way she talks and what she promotes. Is mostly spiritualism and self-help. There is no God in the equation. Oh yeah she’ll talk about God and say he’s an it when he really is the all-powerful and could take her out of existence with the blink of an eye. We are called to love all of humanity and I really do love Oprah because she is made by God but I don’t like what she is promoting. She uses Christian undertones to bring in Christians that are weak in their faith. That’s why we as Catholics and as Christians need to read the church fathers and the catechism of the Catholic Church and see the evidence and decide for ourselves. God bless

She uses Christian undertones because that is the faith she was raised in and because the people who are the founders or spiritual leaders of the movements that she promotes also use it. I’m not convinced she had an agenda other than to make money and try to push something good while she does it.

You write as though she has an agenda to lead people aeay from Christianity when she is just as bamboozled as others who buy into the quasi-spiritual stuff.

She was part of an organized religion Baptist she did at one time believe in God. Then she lost faith when the Bible said God is a jealous God she took it literally. There are some things that we do not understand in the Bible. We have to rely on the teachings of the church. Even in Peter he says that Paul’s writings or hard to interpret. Baptist believe in An Almighty God. I used to be Baptist at one time and they do believe and the trinity although some of them hate Catholics. And I’ve heard this with my own ears I used to go to Bible study. I used to talk to people that condemn Catholics. The Catholic Church does not condemn any religion including atheism. We are all made by God in God’s image and we do not know who is going to heaven or hell. But we have to make moral judgments about actions that people are doing especially against the church and Christianity. Saint Paul walked all over the Mediterranean preaching how people need to come back to Christ. In Corinth they were doing idol worship. So he was making a moral judgment and trying to bring them back to Christ. I’m not talking about judging them to hell I’m talking about moral judgment.
God bless
