Yes , sexual abuse is running absolutely rampant , but I do not concern myself with Mormons , Baptists , or Teachers , or whoever . Catholic Priests are ordained by GOD , and are ( should be ) held to a higher standard of ethics . I was an Alter Boy when I was in the 5th grade , but I never even heard of rumors of Priests doing such things . Had I been a victim of abuse by a Priest back then , my dad would have probably strangled them .

The solution to your shock is to pray for them, as they have fallen under the spell of the evil one. As bad as their acts were, they are still beloved of God - as are the victims. As we know, sin is never a personal or private matter. Like a cancer, it grows tentacles and affects all, sooner or later.

This, if anything, should strengthen our resolve to defeat the evil one at each and every level of existence. For our part, it is done primarily via prayer.

Catholics know the Church needs purification, and many are praying and working for that to happen. I will not leave the Church, because I know I would be leaving Christ and the fullness of His Truth.

It will take time, and every prayer and sacrifice will help. Thank God for the saints, and the many holy priests we have.

This is why the situation of the SSPX makes no sense to me really. The priests can’t validly consecrate the Eucharist yet they can validly absolve sins.
They can validly confect the Eucharist. Licety is a different matter. If I’m not mistaken, historically, some priests were ordained and given the faculties to celebrate Mass, but not to hear confessions. These were priests were “simplex” priests. If you’ve seen an EF ordination, you’ll notice that the new priest has half of his chacible folded. This is why. Only later does the bishop actually grant him the ability to hear confessions and forgive sins.
