This is a terrific article about the Knights in Tillamook, OR. I earnestly hope that more Catholic parishes and organizations follow suit. By conserving and restoring rich productive land, we are being honest stewards of God’s Creation. (Psalms 24:1 answers the question of ownership). And by raising produce for food banks, we create a sustainable source of nourishment for those in need.
Finally, many parishes and organizations like the KofC could potentially morph this into a job-training program for the poor as well. Give a man a fish vs. teach a man how to fish. It makes the difference of a life-time. I may be old-fashioned, but I believe returning to a culture of productivity and hard work would save this nation
