It doesn’t have to be overly compelling It’s the simplest and most obvious explanation. The onus of proof is on you to provide a compelling argument to the contrary.

A thousand years is extremely improbable. So is fifty, for that matter. Unless you can provide some explanation for why Adam and Eve - in a pre-fall state of perfect harmony with God’s will - would put off procreating for that long, when they had been given the explicit command from God to go forth and multiply. Seems to me, that this also would have been a sin…
Hey! Maybe the original sin was of a prudish, puritan nature. Maybe Adam and Eve sinned by NOT having sex for an unreasonably long period of time… I could have so much fun with this conversation. XD
