Orthodox and Catholicism ???

I went to a number of Eastern Rite Liturgies ( Melkite, Maronite, Ruthinian, etc.) before I became finally Orthodox. The only difference I noticed is the way the Eucharist is served. One church I went to the Priest dipped the Body of Christ in the Chalice then gave communion.
The service was the same. (except for the Maronite)

you went to all those kinds of liturgies and then at the Orthodox and didnt observe much of a difference??(except maronites)

so how come you finally became Orthodox, what was the most solid reason or what exactly determined you to leave the Catholic Church?

I will not speak for Robert, but for myself.

I never left the Catholic Faith.

Becoming Orthodox is the sum of what it means to be a Christian.
Becoming Orthodox was the fulfillment of my Catholicism.

If Rome were to return to Holy Orthodoxy I would be happy and eager to return to my old parish. In my heart I am still there.

The different Eastern Rite Churches use St. John Chrysostom’s Divine Liturgy, hence, no material difference. The Maronite Church uses an older form of the Antiochian Liturgy, hence the difference.
I was never Roman Catholic, so I never left the Catholic Church
( Roman). I was Protestant and had to make a choice. I chose Orthodoxy because the Liturgy was unchanged. If Rome had of kept the Old Latin Mass, I probably would have become Roman Catholic.
Now I feel totally Catholic, not Roman Catholic, I’m Orthodox Catholic. Look on my profile.

Yes, but if the capital of the Roman Empire moved to Constantinople, then Orthodox are just as “Roman” Catholic as the Latins are.

heh your words reminded me of Monsenor Vladimir Ghika, he was the nephew of the last Principe(dunno exactly but they werent named “kings”) of Moldavia, baptised and raised Orthodox, when people asked him why he became catholic he answered “to be a better orthodox”

well im happy for you, but what exactly made you turn to Orthodoxy, ofc if you are willing to share, what did you liked so much in Orthodoxy that Catholicism didnt have or was missing, what made you “become a better catholic”?

I just wanted to say “hello!” (Probably a little late. I haven’t been here for about a month) I have met a few Romanian Catholics in person and online, and I have to say I am very impressed by the Romanian Church’s faithfulness to the Holy Father. I myself translated to Catholicism from Coptic Orthodoxy about three years ago.

dont know what to say more , after 50 years of communism the catholics from Romania were glad to reestablish communion with Rome.
