It happens to be a misnomer that has stuck, that doesn’t mean that these people are still harboring grudges. If they have no grudges they would probably still call them Franks because that’s how western Europeans can be known in some areas, especially Germans…
We still call Native Americans Indians around these parts. I know some white people still hate or disrespect “indians”, so do some Mexicans. But really the rest of us just call them Indians because that is how we know them, not out of intentional disrespect.
BTW, the blind repetition of these stereotypes spread across the internet is a pretty un-Christian attribute too. It amounts to backbiting and is a sin.
