Orthodox Church? Eastern Orthodox Church? Which is it?

You display a considerable disdain for it.

Instead of building bridges between us, you sow destruction.

You drive even the most sympathetic Orthodox away, and don’t for a minute think that this hatchet work of yours impresses the lurking inquirers (whom are many).

Your enthusiasm is enormous, but you need to learn to channel it more effectively. Making common cause with Orthodox would be possible, there is so much hope for reconciliation, but you tear down where others are trying to build. You even attack the traditions and practices Orthodox have in common with Byzantine Catholics, clearly indicating a hostility for things non-Latin and undercutting Byzantine Catholics own apologetic position with non-Catholics. This being Lent for most of them, it is a struggle for them to maintain a proper mental attitude for the season while participating on this site.

This is backfiring on you, you are losing friends here.

Yes. It is all very sad. 😦

2nd Gen. Like I said before. They are refered to as the Orthodox Church (a misnomer in my view because of their lack of orthodoxy) or the Eastern Orthodox Church (another misnomer). Even though I think these names are wrongly given, they have become the regonized and official names of that group or Churches and we can, for simplicity’s sake, refer to them by those names.

What they lack (if we can call it that), is ultramontanism. Something that was not present in the early church, and never present in Holy Orthodoxy.

If you call that unorthodox, I can not agree.

You keep taking the words right outta my mouth—er—keyboard. 👍

Why can’t we get one of “them” to say that?

They just insist on talking about everything else “except” the topic of the thread. 🤷

You know what one of them said?

Catholics stole the name of The Catholic Church!

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

You EOs. Love you guys. You think that just because you say something, then its true. 😃

What’s the name of Orthodox Christian’s Church?

You guys love that word. “Ultramontanism”. LOL :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Do you have any points to make, or are you going keep telling us how much you love us and the words we use?
Did you have any points to make? Or were you just gonna say thing that have no basis in reality, as in yours and michael’s last few posts?

That’s kind of demanding for someone who hasn’t answered the OP:

Now how’s about this time around?

Orthodox Church? Eastern Orthodox Church? Which is it?

Yes. It is all very sad. 😦
I agree with the two of you, this is very sad indeed. It’s always sad when someone feels the need to ridicule the beliefs of others instead of engaging in mature, loving dialogue and rationally discussing any differences that arise. The OP here has started several threads about Eastern Orthodoxy, and they all seem to serve no other purpose than to ridicule the faith. I’ve been following these threads, but have become increasingly disgusted with each one, and I doubt I’ll bother with any more threads started by the OP. I pray that this thread, and the others I’ve mentioned here, are shut down. The lack of charity on these threads is distasteful.

I would like to apologize to all Eastern Orthodox Christians who have read these threads that ridicule your faith. I would also like you all to know that not all Catholics who are loyal to Rome hold the disdain and hostility towards your faith that the OP, as well as a handful of others, have displayed.

I don’t love the term.

I use the term, coined by Roman catholics, because it describes a modern error infecting the church. In it’s creativeness it resembles moderrnism, and springs from the same roots.

You, I love.

Michael

Thank you my brother in Christ. You are correct. It seems that the OP has a special bone to pick with Holy Orthodoxy. Each thread becomes increasingly harsh. Thank you for your expression of love and charity. May your Lent be blessed.
