The Eastern Orthodox share a close communion with us, but they are outside of the Church that Christ founded. They teach no heresy? How about denying Papal Supremacy? And therefore Papal Infallibility? Their view of the Sacrament of Matrimony is wrong as well. (They say that the blessing of the priest is necessary for the sacrament, it is not)
The Catholic Church acknowledges the Orthodox as an apostolic Church. They don’t extend this courtesy to the Protestant ecclesial communities. They allow for inter-communion in certain circumstances…no, it’s not the norm but it’s there.

how do you view the Eastern Catholic churches? They are Orthodox in practice or at least they SHOULD be according to Vatican 2…they are to remove the many latinizations that have been forced on them throughout the years…this includes their theology and their view on marriage…which is the same as the Orthodox. The Roman Church is not superior…that attitude unfortunately is pervasive and it sickens me…I’ll be very happy when I can officially transfer Churches!

The Eastern Orthodox was founded by schismatic Catholic bishops. The Eastern Catholic Churches are full members of the Catholic Church, in communion with the See of Peter.

I never said that the Latin Church was superior to the others. She is equal to to Melkite Greek Catholic, to the Syro-Malabar, to the Ukrainian Greek to the…etc etc. All of these ritual Churches exist within the unity of the one Catholic Church.

The Eastern Orthodox do have all seven Sacraments (or Mysteries), which therefore includes a valid episcopal line. That being said, they do not exist within the unity of the one Church. And there is only one Church.

yet their theology is no different than the “heretical” (as you claim) Orthodox. The role of the Pope is also different there. He provides unity…his job is not to micromanage…that is for each Eastern Patriarch to do…just as the Pope does with the Latin Church as he is Patriarch there (a title he has given up which puzzels me)

yet your attitude about differences in theology suggests otherwise…try telling a Melkite that their marriage isn’t valid b/c they believe the priest administers the Mystery…I’m sure they would be upset by that

Then why does the Catholic Church consider them a Church and not an eccelsial community? The East needs to return to the West but the West also needs to return to the East.

Leet us all pray the words of Blessed John XXIII which he prayed on his death bed in horrible pain from stomach cancer. "UT UNUM SINT"

The differences between the Church and the Jews are irreconcilable, unless they turn to Christ their Saviour. We can join in with secularists in fighting Marxism too, but the Eastern Orthodox were once part of the one, holy, Catholic and apostolic Church, and it is important for our times for them to return to the Church Christ founded.
I’m aware of the philosophical and theological differences with Muslims and the Jews, but despite that, those religions still contain far more elements of Truth in them than Marxism. At least after they’re confronted and no longer a danger to the rest of the planet, we can re-engage the Jews and Muslims in a religious debate as fellow Abrahamites.

I don’t really see a reason for uniting with secularists. They have no intention of returning to the fold of their fathers, or at the very least, make a genuine attempt and seem more on the bent on being the useful idiots of the Communists.

Should they realize their error and seek amends, that’s fine. I have no quarrel with a person who is truthfully trying to get to the Light on their own terms.

Unfortunately, many simply don’t care and it’s at a level where the more violent they become, the more it’s going to come down to an us vs. them scenario. It just seems like things are going to get worse before they get better. The question is, how much worse?

that isnt the issue

they believe that the Pope is one amoung equals, …
I already know that. There is very little about Orthodoxy I do not know. But we will never give up the office so they would have to join in when it came to electing a new one.

There are a number of secular conservative groups and pro-life organisations that are non-religious. However, even though we share a history with the Jewish people, they still do not accept Christ as God…and that is a pretty big difference. Plus, the Jews are set in their ways and are proud of their heritage as well, so for them, there still may be an ‘us and them’ mentality.
